As Terry ran through the Atlantic provinces in April, May and June of 1980, school was still in session. Despite running an average of 26 miles a day, he was determined to tell his story and explain why he was running to as many people as he could. This meant that there were some very lucky schools who could boast of an in-school visit from Terry Fox! The students were enthralled by him; how he talked with ease about being a cancer survivor, his willingness to show how his artificial leg worked; his sense of humour; his dedication to his run. Donna Jordan has a vivid memory of seeing Terry on May 2 in Corner Brook, NL: “I was 10 years old and had an instant schoolgirl crush on this very handsome young man speaking strange words I’d never heard before; words such as ‘cancer’ and ‘amputation’ and ‘chemotherapy’. He spoke these words without fear. I was convinced he was the coolest boy I’d ever laid eyes on. He allowed us to touch his prosthetic leg and told us how his hair wasn’t curly before the chemo. In return, we sang ‘Thank you God for giving us Terry.’” Today, millions of Canadian students still relate to Terry, his dedication, his try. Hay un cierto grado de rebeldía que nos aleja del formato clásico del hit y, después de haber alcanzado cierta saturación, nos impulsa a explorar territorios nuevos. Pero lo que sí sé es que poco a poco empezamos a resignar el vértigo y la adrenalina a favor de otras cosas, que es de algún modo la etapa en la que estamos ahora. Investigar, experimentar, aunque eso signifique vender menos discos que antes. Es un poco la idea de ya no apostar a que todo lo que hagamos tenga una gran repercusión en el público. La propuesta actual pasa por un disfrute más personal de los discos, gozar de la música más allá de lo que pase en los grandes teatros o estadios. No es que renuncie a todo eso, que siempre seduce, pero lo que ocurre es que la sociedad ha cambiado mucho últimamente, al igual que nosotros, y tal vez esté llegando la hora de pensar más en un oyente individual. Vicente. Também é possível identificar-se um madeiro, carregado pelo frade de cabelo e barba longos, que se pensa ser o caixão que guardava as relíquias de São Vicente, ou um leito de pregos, relacionado com o martírio do Santo. Tonight we are releasing the Mdou Moctar Mixtape Vol 2 at 12am PST. Thank you to everyone who bought Vol 1. we appreciate all of your support! The idea of releasing these mixtapes arose when we were forced to cancel our spring tour due to the Coronavirus. Touring is the primary source of income for our band, and not being able to tour is a financial strain on our families. Since the release of Vol 1, the world is dealing with another major crisis, and our band supports the protesters fight against racism and police brutality all over the world. We know that there are a lot of organizations out there that need your financial support to help with this fight, so we are making Vol 2 pay what you want (suggested donation of $8). The money will go to the 3 band members who live in Niger, and a portion is being donated to #blacklivesmatter. Link in bio Mixtape Vol. 2 explores the high-energy Agadez wedding performances of the Mdou Moctar band. Weddings in Niger celebrate the ceremony of marriage, but even more than that, celebrate the bond of community. They happen frequently and are open to the public. Tuareg weddings are rarely held indoors and range in location—from the desert/bush (en brousse) to center-of-it-all family compounds. The band starts the revelry before the party even appears. With music already blaring, guests begin to show by foot, motorcycle, and desert-roughed Land Rovers. The drums mimic the shuffle of camel pack sand-strutting. LOUD is the lowest volume. The amps are turned way past 11. The guitars are beyond distorted, absurdly and wonderfully in-the-red. The blasting, rumbling vocals blow out the PA speakers. It’s a glorious soup of happy noise. The music is a marathon session. The band plays for hours, with musicians spilling in on out to keep the party going. Dancing guests shower the players with money and increase their generosity as the band plays faster and faster. The party might not end until the generator runs out of fuel. While “punk” is an alternative to the mainstream, these “punk” wedding shows are the norm. There is no genre or categorical divide. It’s music.’ - @mdou_moctar on Instagram

Why are hair influenzers and none hairstylist product lines selling shampoo or modiFrying the CGM yet still calling it the The CGMethod? Then why call it the CG method? Is it for more Likes only? Is it because of a quick profit turnaround? Is it the result of over layering & buildup up from sulfate-silicone and oil attachment? Have you ever seen the long term result or felt the hair of a person using a product you so highly recommended one day and recommended something completely different the next? When you are promoting products and ingredients with no science background or not having hands on experience with other peoples hair that is not just your own, (Sorry mannequins do not count) you must start to ask these questions. My first question would be how can one possibly know what your hair likes if you are constantly bombarding your hair with different products daily? ShamPoo for curly hair is the like drinking salt water when you are thirsty, resulting in dry mouth. Using products containing heavy buttery, waxy oily, silicone & sodium hydroxide ingredients 100% stick to the hair like goo!
