Al terminar el libro entendí por qué es tan reconocido en el género; es la máxima representación de una distopía. Y habiendo leído otras 7 novelas de esa categoría, debo decir que 1984 logró marcarme. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Con Winston visitamos la sociedad futurista de Oceanía, región compuesta por América, Reino Unido y Oceanía como los conocemos. Oceanía es gobernada por un régimen totalitario cuya figura líder es la del Gran Hermano, y quien no lo adore está en peligro constante frente al Partido. El nivel de control del Partido es impactante; vigilan a las personas 24/7, enseñan a los niños a espiar a sus familias, manejan todas las comunicaciones y hasta alteran la historia. Me marcó mucho el “doblepiensa”, técnica que las personas interiorizan para aceptar las locuras del Partido. Me hizo pensar en cuando nos negamos a reconocer algo que nos incomoda.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Empezamos a leer 1984 cuando ni sabíamos del COVID-19. Y aunque las distopías incluyen elementos de la realidad, estarlo leyendo cuando inició la cuarentena fue duro (mejor leerlo con buenos ánimos 😅). Saigon, about a bit over a year ago I started doing research for @wmenswear AW20 ‘The Radical Spirit’. Since we have launched the collection this month, I’m going to be posting about the whole process. This photo marks the very early days, sniffing around for hidden treasure. Here I’m wearing a Viet Cong trench coat that inspired the new reversible Nam Coat. It has been challenging not being able to travel to Vietnam this year, but it gave me a whole new level of appreciation. @ikerson2 shirt design As a Onondaga artist, I wanted to create a piece that showed the Haudenosaunee peoples support for this MMIWG2S epidemic. This graphic art piece is meant to help spread awareness towards this very important movement for the MMIWG2S (Murdered Missing Indigenous Womxn Girls Two-Spirit). (The Doll) In Haudenosaunee teachings there is a story of the corn husk doll. Corn being one of the sustainers of life to the people along side beans and squash form what is referred to as the Three Sisters. The Corn Spirit was thrilled to be one of the sustainers of life that she asked the Great Spirit if there was anything more that she could do for her people. The Great Spirit told her that a doll could be formed from her husk. The Corn Spirit then made the doll from her husk and went from village to village playing with the children. Traditionally the corn husk doll didn’t have a face as a reminder to the people that one person is no better than the next; showcasing that we are all just as important. Continuing with this concept, I felt it was a great way to represent those Indigenous womxn, girls and two-spirit. For one is no greater than the other but are all equally missed but never forgotten. (The Dress and Red Hand) The red dress relates to our lifeblood and that connection between all of us. This symbolizes both vitality and violence. The red hand over her mouth symbolizes the inability of many victims to speak for themselves. (Designs) The Haudenosaunee designs behind the doll represent a variety of elements, including the spirit of those elements in this world and the next. The top design represents the sky world tying into those who have been murdered and have left Mother Earth to continue there journey into the sky world. Beneath the top design, you’ll see diagonal designs that represent the fires of different Nations. These nations are united for this MMIWG2S epidemic. Underneath the diagonal designs you’ll notice the Circle of growth design from our mother earth. Lego Breaking Bad | Tuco Salamanca Probably the second most time consuming figure of this wave is Tuco, who’s painted in his flashy outfit from the junkyard drug deal at the end of season 1. The head was a yellow head painted brown, with the grill also painted onto his teeth. The torso/arm pattern was a huge pain to paint, but it turned out cleaner than I ever imagined it would. @fishyfigs design of this outfit provided me a great reference for how to condense it down to Minifigure scale. I painted blood on his hand from when he beats No Doze to a bloody pulp, and his knife has some of Heisenberg’s crystal painted on. I often wonder if it looks ‘glamorous’ to others or mysterious and wise - and it can be some of those things. But, what I do is work from the heart to heal each soul I read. Its more than just a tarot reading. It’s tough work. It’s deep work. There can be heavy themes. However, it is work that I absolutely love. And for every one of you glorious and brilliant souls I get to call a clients; I’m beyond thankful, grateful, lucky and honored to do this work and be here for you. This work found me and I moved towards it. I didn’t become a reader because it was on trend or cool. I didn’t become a reader when it WAS cool. I have always been this way. I don’t need to explain to you why I have taken time off because I know you care about me and my offerings. But I want to explain because I feel it needs to be heard. My mother said: are you sure you want to say no to people? And I replied, I have to say yes to me. This is BOUNDARY work and it has been a huge theme for many of us right now. Boundaries are about giving yourself what you need to be nourished and strong. To drink from your cup to feel full and complete; and that can come with a hard NO. It’s ok! Here’s my latest finished creation, 1st piece of a collection named “Nature Awareness”. A collection based on or inspired by different cultures that I find myself attracted by/in. And of course I started with the Nordic people’s culture since is the one I had the most to do and have been part of my life the past years and the rest of the coming ones as it is now part of myself. Love for Nature and that which we are all made of/from and which connects us. I would like to add a couples of words about the drawing itself and what it represents. Since runes mean so much more than a couple of words can describe I advise you to seek deeper and see what it means for you. It is said that Runes are part of a forgotten language of our “inner selves”. The background was made having in mind the Silver Birch, associated with the Ur-rune and believed to represent “the shamans pillar” which provides access to inner worlds. This symbol can make you think at rebirth and new beginnings. It stresses the need to be free from things that have now served their purpose. Can also help you strengthen the image of what is desired and bring into focus the intention. After a very unusual academic year for pupils across the United Kingdom last year, many are beginning to return to school, college and university for the first time in many, many months! This panel features St Benedict who is the patron Saint of school children and students! He is depicted here being sent off to school by his parents as a young boy in this 15th century panel. The original artist and location of this panel remain unknown, but it is believed to have been made between 1460 to 1480 by a Norwich artist. St Benedict is a venerated Saint in the Catholic, Anglican and Easter & Western Orthodox Churches as well as being a patron Saint of Europe. Pope Benedict XVI said of him that with his life and work St Benedict exercised a fundamental influence on the development of European civilisation and culture and helped Europe to emerge from the dark night of history that followed the fall of the Roman empire. As such, the early Middle Ages have often been called the Benedictine centuries. St. Benedict contributed significantly to the rise of monasticism in the West. His Rule, The Rule of Saint Benedict was the founding document for thousands of religious communities in the Middle Ages. To this day, this rule is the most common and influential Rule used by monasteries and monks, more than 1,400 years after its writing. Today the Benedictine family is represented by two branches: the Benedictine Federation and the Cistercian.
