Azi e #WorldArtNouveauDay, sărbătoare dedicată anul acesta vitraliilor. Bun venit, așadar, în Sala Oglinzilor a Palatului Culturii din Târgu Mureș, clădire impresionantă ale cărei detalii arhitecturale speciale și destul de insolite pentru trecătorul neavizat sunt totuși de neratat. Vitraliile ample sunt spectaculoase și vorbesc atât despre avansul tehnologic și libertatea de expresie permisă astfel artiștilor noului stil (forme naturale, culori vibrante, structuri ample în fier, plumb și sticlă colorată - opalescentă sau transparentă), cât mai ales despre particularitatea curentelor locale ale acestui stil cu inspirații și idealuri multiple (Art Nouveau-ul belgian și francez poartă numele de Jugendstil în Germania și Finlanda, Stilo Liberty în Italia, Modernismo catalan în Spania sau Secession în spațiul austro-ungar) Am ales, spre exemplificare o primă poveste spusa de unul dintrele cele patru vitralii centrale din Sala Oglinzilor care prezintă balade populare maghiare. Kádár Kata (Două flori de paraclis) vorbește despre tragedia căsătoriei interzise în contextul relaţiilor sociale feudale. Mortul, care continuă să trăiască într-o floare, povestea îndrăgostiţilor în taină, care se regăsesc şi dincolo de moarte sunt motive folclorice şi ale creaţiei culte în Europa. Varianta lor maghiară există doar în Transilvania şi Moldova, spune etnologul Kallós Zoltán. Pe primul vitraliu o vedem pe trufaşa doamnă Gyulai, întoarsă pe jumătate spre fiul ei. Cu chipul lui blând, întors spre privitor, domnişorul Miklós i se adresează mamei cu o frumoasă rugare: Să-l lase s-o ia de soaţă pe minunata fată a iobagului lor, Kádár Kata. Răspunsul neînduplecatei mame este potrivnic: Nu mă învoiesc copile-al meu / Nu mă-îngăduie a mea stare. În cea de a doua imagine, fata de iobag se află azvârlită fără milă în lacul fără fund printre plante acvatice, alge, peşti, care, solidare cu ea, o cuprind alinând-o ocrotitor, învăluie trupul fetei date morţii. Cea de a treia înfăţişează două fire de flori care, înfăşurându-se în jurui paraclisului şi ridicându-se deasupra lui, se alcătuiesc într-un chip uman. L’œuvre installée en 1980 est un hommage au soleil et aux couleurs méditerranéennes réalisé par René-Maria Burlet (1907-1994) et Camille Nogret (1910-2009). Station Valmy (Ligne D) : On retrouve là encore des dalles de verre soufflées avec incrustation de dessins par Jean-Philippe Aubanel dans une inspiration océanique. 📷 St Michaels Church, Churchill, Worcestershire The church of St Michael, Churchill stands, as the name suggests, on a small hill. The church is almost surrounded by trees and high hedges, with its lack of a tower making the building a hidden, delightfully secluded and peaceful place. Much of the structure of St Micheal’s dates from the 14th century, though some fragments of earlier buildings have been used in the walls. It is a simple two-cell church with a nave and chancel only, made mostly out of local blue lias. The timber south porch was added in 1910 in memory of the Revd John Bates, a former rector and his wife Emma. The adjoining south wall of the nave was almost completely reconstructed in 1910 as it leaned dangerously outwards and had done so for at least a hundred years. Inside the minimal use of stained glass means that the church is bathed in light. Though the glass that is in the church is rather charming. The three-light east window was restored in the 1860s and contains a small shield of the Wysham family who were lords of the manor in the 14th century. Near the pulpit is a window, rediscovered in 1910 and glazed with diamond-shaped quarries, illustrating many flowers that can be found locally. The nave walls, now bare of plaster, reveal the lias stone and hints of earlier masonry - possibly Norman, can be found in the north and south walls. The simple octagonal font near the entrance is 15th-century, the cover is probably Jacobean. The nave seating was renewed in 1910 using earlier oak ends and the curtained vestry at the west end is made up from pieces of 17th-century box pews. Are you an avid churchcrawler with a camera? Léglise abbatiale Saint-Père-en-Vallée On doit probablement à la reine Bathilde, au viie siècle, non la fondation de labbaye Saint-Père, plus ancienne, mais un accroissement de ses revenus. Détruite par les Normands en 858 et à nouveau en 911, labbaye fut entièrement reconstruite vers 930 par lévêque Aganon, qui y fut inhumé. Les incendies de 1077 et 1134 la détruisirent presque totalement, à lexception de la tour ouest, bâtie comme un donjon. Les dégâts furent si importants que labbé Foucher décida de reconstruire entièrement léglise en conservant la tour épargnée par les incendies.
