Obligatory first day of school pics. As usual my children are comfortable. This one woke me up asking what time she was getting ready for big school today. I said in a few hours because I thought it was 4 am. It was 6:30😫. Amidst a very crowded, intended to be socially distant but impossible on the sidewalk with several school age groups queuing to enter the building and a bunch of mums and dads and large dogs plus or minus baby in the pram ( per family), she went into the school without batting an eyelid. I’m grateful for her confidence and energy. She’ll be fine. How I felt you asked? No tears and Apart from being the token black mom and parent in an area that is very diverse, I was ok that she was ok. But that settled on my mind. Maybe because the current climate has me a bit uncertain of things that used to be status quo. Let’s see how this goes... This week, Peter met up with little Daniel and took him on a tour of the Herriot museum. Daniel is blind and can’t really speak, but after watching The Yorkshire Vet he started saying “moo”! Were so pleased that Daniel’s life has been enhanced by The Yorkshire Vet and it makes us all feel very proud. We’ve got another new episode on Tuesday full of farm animals and pets in need. Students enrolled in the Speech-Language Pathology Program at ULM visited students in our Early Head Start Centers this week. They volunteer to provide speech pathology services giving our children assistance with developing their speech each fall and spring semester. We are excited to have them back in our classrooms! We are currently accepting applications for pregnant moms and children under 3 for Early Head Start. The program provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income infants and toddlers, children with disabilities, and their families, and pregnant women and their families. Our first apartment together was a small one-bedroom in the valley. Well it was his apartment that he was sharing with a cat, and I just joined them along the way. When I was expecting Nairi, we thought it was time to move to a bigger place and rented a one-bedroom loft in Burbank. Vaulted ceilings stole my heart the minute I saw it. There was only one problem: the bathroom was right next to Nairi’s room, which meant you couldn’t use it after she was asleep! Let’s just say we used the bathroom in the apartment complex’s gym more than few times! Our current house has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and almost a walk-in closet (story for another post), yet somehow everybody is always hanging out on the living room’s couch or ending up in our bedroom by morning. My point is maybe we should have stayed in that one-bedroom loft. It was way cheaper. And there was always the gym’s bathroom. - @arevook on Instagram
