Как врачи развивают стоматофобию у детей. ⠀ На иллюстрации картина врача-художника Шикото, «Интубация» (1904). Мы видим маленького ребенка, который, сидя на коленях любящей матери, доверяет врачу серьёзную и болезненную процедуру. Мать держит малыша за ручки фиксируя их, ассистент придерживает головку малыша: крепко, но без насилия. Ребенок напряжен, но не вырывается из рук и не паникует, доверяясь взрослым. В целом это то, чего и желают добиться врачи в лечении детей. Им не нужно, чтобы ребенок с радостью ложился под шприц и нож: им достаточно, чтобы ребенок доверился. ⠀ Как-то услышал такую фразу от детского врача-стоматолога: «Ничего страшного, если ребенка подержать». ⠀ Некоторые врачи лояльно относятся к тому, чтобы физически фиксировать ребенка, когда тот сопротивляется. «Немного утихомирить», так сказать. Мол, ребенок и сам после процедуры поймет, что это для его блага, получит награду от мамы за терпение и успокоится. ⠀ Как эксперт, преподающий психологию, хочу разъяснить, почему я не рекомендую удерживать ребенка насильно. Если без физического воздействия убедить его не удается, то лучше отложить лечение. ⠀ А в случае, когда откладывать лечение нельзя, лучше применить медикаментозные методы от седативной премедикации до седации. И вплоть до общей анестезии. ⠀ Если вы ребенка успешно зафиксируете, то «ничего страшного» не произойдет только в рамках одной процедуры. Но впереди ребенка ждёт ещё много медицинских процедур. И эпизод становится предпосылкой к развитию стоматофобии, а иногда панических атак уже во взрослом состоянии. С последствиями уже придется работать неврологам и психотерапевтам. ⠀ Добавлю даже больше: фактически у всех людей, кто приобрел стоматофобию, был эпизод, когда его насильно удерживали в кресле стоматолога. ⠀ Прошу коллег, которые все еще думают, что «нет ничего страшного в том, чтобы подержать ребенка», поразмыслить над этим, и впредь думать не в рамках одной процедуры, а в комплексе. ⠀ Если вы хотите, чтобы ребенок вернулся к вам еще раз и доверился вам более охотно, то лучше применять другие методы воздействия. Last selfportrait, always a mystery For a long time, this painting was the only self-portrait of which it was established that Rembrandt had painted it in his year of death. In his face expression you can clearly see that also Rembrandt knew that his time was coming. The finish of this painting is minimal, and an obvious thought would be that the self-portrait was left unfinished with Rembrandt’s death. Princess Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise, the second child and only daughter of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, was born on 15th August 1950 at Clarence House in London. Some facts about Her Royal Highness: • Princess Anne is the seventh Princess Royal in the British Monarchy, having held the title since June 1987. It is a title traditionally carried by the monarch’s oldest daughter and held for life. • Princess Anne started undertaking public work at the age of 18, when her first engagement was the opening of an educational and training centre in Shropshire in 1969. • Princess Anne is an extremely accomplished equestrian - at the age of 21 she won the European Eventing Championship and was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1971. She also competed at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games as a member of the British Equestrian team. She was the first member of the Royal Family to compete in an Olympic Games. • The Princess Royal has been President of Save the Children UK since 1970, and it was the first major charity with which she became closely associated. She spends a significant amount of time visiting Save the Children’s projects, both overseas and in the UK, meeting fundraisers and volunteers, and visiting our shops around the UK. • Princess Anne married Mark Philips in 1973. They have two children - Peter Mark Phillips born in 1977 and Zara Phillips born in 1981. • The Princess survived a kidnapping attempt in 1974. Shoutout to creator/designer Nikola Salvi!! Although he didn’t get to see to the end of the creation of the Trevi in 1762, his designs mostly made it to the end product before he died in 1751. Salvi’s designs of the Trevi truly were the best-in all of Rome and the surrounding areas-as he was picked in a contest by Pope Clement XII of the best possible structure. Salvi oversaw the construction of the Trevi for 19 years until his death. Following his passing, Giuseppe Pannini, another exceptional artist, finished up Nikola’s work. However, the Trevi was so amazing that it had to wait for the perfect artist to complete it (it couldn’t settle for second best). Before Nikola’s work was chosen by Clement , Pope Urban VIII had chosen Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1629 to design a fountain, though the idea died out with Urban soon after. #trevifountain #bffsince1730 - @trevi.fountain on Instagram

The Civil War affected the everyday lives of many people on the Cumberland Plateau. Lots of families lived on farms in isolated places. Many people just wanted to be left alone, but homeowners had to be on the watch for strangers. Marauding confederate or union soldiers would kill people, kidnap teenage boys to make soldiers out of them, steal food and livestock, and destroy crops and burn homes. Julia Marcum was sixteen years old when she lived with her family on a farm near No Business, Tennessee. One evening, her father who was a union sympathizer, hid in the barn when he heard that confederate soldiers were in the area. On her way upstairs to get candles, Julia grabbed an ax to defend herself if necessary. A soldier followed her up the steps. Julia hacked at him with the ax. The soldier stabbed and blinded her in an eye with his bayonet then shot her at close range, hitting and destroying a finger. When her father heard the commotion, he stormed into the house and shot and killed the soldier. When word of the incident reached a unit of confederate soldiers who were stationed nearby, they sent their physician to dress her wounds. Julia healed well enough to teach school for a number of years following the war. Eventually, the war wounds festered to the point that she could no longer work. Julia petitioned congress to grant her a pension since she was unable to teach due to her wounds. In 1884, by a special Act of Congress, Julia Marcum became the only woman to receive a pension for active civil war duty. She received $35 a month. Julia became a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization whose members fought on the union side during the war. Because she so bravely defended her family against marauding confederate soldiers, Julia was considered to be a union soldier. On this day in 1786, Major General Nathanael Greene died on his plantation in Mulberry Grove, Georgia. Nathanael Greene was born in Potowomut, Rhode Island, to the Greene family, a prosperous Quaker family. In the 1770’s Greene became active against the British and helped establish the Kentish Guards, a state militia. After the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the establishment of the Continental Army, and Greene was appointed general. Greene served under Washington in the Boston campaign, New York and New Jersey Campaign, and the Philadelphia campaign, before being appointed quartermaster general of the Continental Army in 1778. In 1780, Washington appointed Greene as the commander of the Continental Army in the southern theater, leading successful campaigns of guerrilla warfare against British general Cornwallis. After the war, he retired to a farm in Georgia, hoping to become a successful planter, but died there in 1786. General Greene built a house in Coventry, which stands to this day.
