hi guys! i hope you all are doing well! things on your timelines may be shifting back to “normal” but the black lives matter movement is more than just a trend and i hope you all regard it as such. that being said, i think as we start to post cosplay pictures or selfies or whatever it may be, activism needs to be blended right alongside that. for me i will continue to share important information, resources, and links to petitions and places in need of donations on my story and occasionally in posts like this! i wanted to share this particular post because i think this outlines exactly what we are fighting for now. this is going to last, months, years, maybe longer. we may all feel burnt out at times, but if we continue with energy and passion to bring about justice i think it’s possible. social justice has been something i’ve been passionate about for a long time, but i feel that it is easy to get distracted by whatever petty drama is happening in the cosplay community. that being said there are real, tangible problems of racism within the cosplay community that need to be addressed and dismantled. follow black cosplayers, request them to guest at your local cons, and stop supporting cosplayers who are racist and do blackface/brownface for the love of god. we have work to do within our own small community and in the country at large. racism can be seen in more than just cops, it’s in everyone in the ways we submit to the systems that make it easier for nonblack people to live. let’s keep the conversation going and continue to act against racial injustice and inequality in every way possible. from social media, to friendships and family, to protests, to politics, change has to happen on every single level. #blacklivesmatter - @bex_cos on Instagram

Hello! Ive been paying taxes atleast since I began working as a MCDONALDS employee when I was 15 years old. I literally needed a workers permit, and to have a signed note from my mother, just so I could wake up at 4am on a Saturday & make $8.65 an hour and Ive been paying and doing my taxes ever since. As my wages have increased, and as someone who has worked as an educator I have increasingly been taxed at around 33 percent of what Ive grossed. So with that in mind - My unemployment benefits, the little bit of money gained weekly $15.00 an hour x 40 hours $600 dollars is really nothing compared to what Ive paid into it, and what other countries have done for their people. Fam, whatever the fuck you do with that money is your business. If you are currently an #educator, #instructor, #teacher and you fear for your life, you should be able to stay home and stay safe.
