So I’ve never actually done an introduction and being back east is making me feel like I should? So here it goes... I’m a Florida native, born and raised. I promise the locals are pretty incredible humans. 🌴 I fell for events after assisting in the planning of homecoming my senior year. I landed an internship that summer with the event planning company responsible for massive public city events in my hometown and almost died of heat exhaustion after a three day July 4th event. ✨ I’m a self taught florist. I watched online classes with @sarah_winward and asked for price sheets weekly from my floral supplier. I would then google every single item on that list and screenshot a thumbnail for each flower, creating my own little library. I’m still learning and I love it. ✨ I live in Portland, OR and mostly moved for the wine. I work at a winery part time and I promise Chardonnay can be really freaking good. And no, the city isn’t burning, but it is a little dystopian feeling at the moment. ✨ I’m a Gemini on the cusp of Cancer (also my rising sign), so yeah I’m emotional and feisty and either need to talk for 7 hours straight or sit in a silent cave for 24 hours. Oh and I get hangry. So just feed me every two hours. 👹 I love to bake. It is my therapy. I wish cardio was. Maybe in my next life. ✨ Negronis are my basic cocktail of choice. ✨ I love to teach. ✈️ Travel is the one big passion in my life (besides tequila 😜) which has always helped ease my anxiety. Well...the last 2 weeks have been an absolute shit show to say the least. The day after a derecho completely devastated my town, I also found out that I, along with my entire family, tested positive for Covid. From dealing with no power or service, throwing away our entire fridge while we can’t leave to restock it, being sick and also worrying about my family’s health at the same time, let’s just say I am completely mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted. I for one couldn’t agree more ! If you’re broad shouldered then no you don’t need it but for many the shoulder pad can give your figure a total revamp. Im not sure when I stopped feeling like sharing parts of my life for strangers to see. Or if life just became so busy I had no space to even think about social media. Or perhaps it was when I became a mother and my devotion is now with my son. . Do we share in hopes to inspire each other, or a need to be heard and seen? A way to feel validated or perhaps just for the fun of it. Each time I go to share something I ask myself why? I am sharing in hopes to inspire, educate, validate or just because I think something is interesting. Personally my favourite accounts are full of funny memes. . Life has been intense for so many of us and sharing my own life has felt insignificant, though I enjoy to see what my friends are sharing, so why would I not post about my own life experiences 🤷🏻♀️ . What a weird time it is, we think we know something and life is showing us how little we really know. I think it’s dangerous to hold onto any belief with dogmatic rigidity. The ego loves to think it knows everything. I’ve gone down so many different paths to find the truth about Co v I d and what’s really going on. I sway, like most people, I do not pretend to have the answers. How can we really know what to believe anymore. I guess this is where faith and love come in, beyond all of the politics and semantics are natural laws and spirit. But not the religious kind, the deep knowing that everything is unfolding as it should. So let go of trying to know and surrender to what is in this moment ❤️. . Almost 10 years ago I decided to jump on board with this company so I could get a discount on my fave superfoods shake and stay accountable to my own fitness goals!! 🤪 What I didn’t realize at the time was that my love for ALL things health and fitness plus my passion for helping people would eventually create a sustainable business. I love seeing them reach milestones and goals with their health & wellness and then go on to influence the people in their lives in a positive way!! I love seeing coaches on my team use this opportunity to do things WITH and FOR their family that they may not have been able to do before. I’ve never wanted to sit around and not work. I actually LOVE being productive. Production is the basis of morale and I’m happiest when I’ve got a lot on my plate and things are getting accomplished!! What I DID want was to be able to work doing something that didn’t FEEL like work! Something where I could call the shots and make my own hours. Something that if I invested time, effort, diligence and consistency....I’d be able to do other things too when I decided to! The best part is that my work travels with me and I can work wherever my phone works. I work in pockets of my day in between e-learning and the rest of the things I need to do. Today marks 3 years of my “Selfie-Portrait of the Artist” series. It feels silly and epic in that “quarantine-has-made-every-damn-thing-seem-more-pointless-and-poignant-than-ever” kind of way. What began as snide cynicism about the vapid navel-gazing of social mediaI has humbled me time and again. The world does not get to define me, it can only respond to my creation of self. To celebrate the lessons learned, my love of wordplay (hello, malaphors, mixed metaphors, double and triple entendres) and the staggering amount of time it took to get comfortable in my own skin (15 months and 10 days just to show my face), I‘m sharing a handful of lost portraits to my stories and thoughts from last years anniversary, resonating super hard, below: In the midst of a Tom Hanks / Wilson moment, I took a castaway photo in the bathroom of a casita I rented for a solitary month in the desert. It was during a time that I desperately needed to know who I was on my own, left to my own devices, suspended in a social vacuum with no one to influence and nothing to resist. No matter how random or clever, the pop-up portraits have become a weirdly life-affirming ritual that push me to explore beyond my one-dimensional-hospital-corners-existence. We’re so much more than a tiny icon on a glowing screen, full of unexpected strangeness and beauty.
