Today we’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Akron, Ohio’s very own SON OF GHOUL! 🎉 In 1982, Cleveland’s own Ron Sweed AKA The Ghoul hosted a GHOULARDI “look-a-like” contest. The winner was a young Ghoulardi fan by the name of Keven Scarpino, bearing the gravest resemblance to Cleveland’s favourite blue-turning KNIF! Not only did young Keven earn first prize that day, but he also received the title of SON OF GHOUL by Ron’s Sweed’s The Ghoul himself! 🎉 After working for Canton, Ohio’s WOAC, the newly crowned Son of Ghoul began a technician job for George Cavender, who had a character known as The Cool Ghoul (Not to be confused with John Zacherle or Dick Von Hoene). Later on, Scarpino was given parts in minor sketches of “Thriller Theater”! 🎉 SOG left The Cool Ghoul’s “Thriller Theater” and WOAC altogether in 1986, auditioning to become the Horror Host’s successor instead. Earning the top spot yet again, Scarpino changed the name of the show to THE SON OF GHOUL SHOW and the rest is Horror Host History!
