Taking on a new test knit ⤵️ I’m working on two test knits right now, and am particularly excited for the release of this one! This is the Ursina sweater by @jacquelinecieslak, a Sport (& Worsted!) weight version of her very popular Ursa sweater. This is the cropped version knit up in Cat’s Eye on Merino Sport in size one, which fits me with minimal ease. Modeled photos to come! - My favorite, most frustrating project I have ever done. I knit this for the Make It With Wool competition 4 years ago, and placed 2nd nationally. It took me 7 months to knit, and so many tears. It was the first cable project I had to frog, 2 inches worth, and I didn’t know if I’d finish.

#tbt to when my obsession with @lionbrandyarn Jeans started. If you know, you know.😂 It was a hard time for me. I was struggling with health issues and killer imposter syndrome. This was my first commisioned design. I almost didnt meet the deadline because my back went out. I was crocheting and writing while laying flat on my couch. It went to testing and I was in the same position. It wasnt until just before release that I was able to move freely. Listen, I dont reccomend this AT ALL! But I wonder what would have happened if I wasnt forced to slow down. I was struggling with the design, it wasnt working the way I wanted. With so much time to be still and think, it came to me. I have yet to top this design, at least in my mind. It taught me a lesson. Its why you will never see me pump out designs fast. I take my time. Slow down. Be still. It will come to you. TEST KNITTING CALL! Im looking for testers for my newest sweater design. The Pillars of Uruk pullover is knit in the round from the bottom up, with dropped shoulders and colorwork inspired by a mosaic pattern found on these 5000 year old pillars in the ancient Sumerian city of Uruk (swipe to see them). Back when these columns were new, Uruk was the biggest city in the world, home to over 40k people and some incredible art and architecture. Its also the city ruled by the legendary king Gilgamesh (of Epic of Gilgamesh fame), who built its walls. Why yes, I did want to be an archeologist when I was growing up! Sweater and test knit details: Yarn: worsted or aran weight Gauge: 17sts/24 rows over 4 Sizes: 36/ 40/ 45/ 48/ 52.5/ 57/ 60/ 64.5/ 69/7 3.5 at the chest, meant to be worn with 4-8 of positive ease Time frame: Pattern will be sent to testers on Sept 12, with a completed sweater due date of October 23. My Be Thankful cardigan is the perfect thing to wear on a crisp fall day like today. . I completed this one back in early Aug, but had to wait a month for the buttons to arrive. Thats what happens when I order from etsy without checking seller location, lol. Then I had to make myself find the time to actually sew the buttons on and redo a wonky bit of neckline bindoff. I still havent put this on the blocking mat, but Ive worn it twice because of how cozy it is. The KFI angora merino is fabulous even if it sheds all over my other clothes. Note to self: dont wear this with black knit pants again. 🙄 . Im pretty happy with how the blending of the two completely disparate colorways turned out. Its far more rose than I normally ever wear, but it was a good save after I screwed up. The yarn has been discontinued for years. I picked up three skeins at a thrift store for $6 total. I thought I was buying two more of the same colorway on Ravelry, but I misread. The Ravelry purchase was rose, purple, grey, and mauve instead of the gold, green, orange, and mauve of the thrift store yarn. Overall, its pretty great for under $20 of non- matching angora merino yarn! .
