I still have an ED. It may no longer be visible, from the emptiness of my eyes, or my ever shrinking body, But I still have an ED. I no longer avoid public meals, or put my packed lunch straight in to the bin, but I still have an ED. I eat more than most of my friends each meal, But I still have an ED. I may not look, and act like the anorexic girl any more, but I still have an ED. Eating disorders are mental illnesses. They don’t go away, once the suffer starts acting like a normal person again. The thoughts don’t vanish once we gain a few kilos, it takes more than that to rewire someone’s brain! The majority of people with EDs are fighting alone, most people don’t look sick, and it goes unnoticed when they seem to eat a little less. Please think about what you say. Please remember that you don’t always know what’s really going on for everyone. The amount of things I have heard this week, that would have caused me to jump even further down in to my ED only a few months ago baffles me. Diet culture is everywhere in our lives, and disordered habits are seen as healthy! We need to help the people who are struggling, not leave them until they are on their death beds to consider lending a hand! You can’t see how much someone is struggling from a glance at their body, so please be more careful about what you say! I hardly ever post anything to Instagram, but today is a monumental day for someone very important to me. I’ve known Kelly for over 3 years now, and I’ve seen her experience some serious ups and downs. I’ve also seen her working on this record through those ups and downs in different ways every single day. This record has been pushed back, held up, and turned down with “it’s just not the right time” more often than I can stand, but she persevered and today the music is here. The rest of the album will be coming next week, but your first chance to hear it is today. I remember a phone call I received just over two years ago. I was in the prairies on a bus, and Kelly had just finished a day of co-writes in Nashville. She was feeling very emotionally drained but at the same time incredibly excited to share this new demo of a song with me. She played me a rough version of Church and I immediately got goose bumps. I knew instantly that this song was going to be a special one. It has gone through rewritten verses, chord changes, multiple recorded demos, and now it has finally arrived as the finished product I always knew it would be. Valentine’s Day is a hard day for a lot of people, but the truth is not everyone is experiencing only the happy side of love. This is a song about divorce, but it is definitely a love song. This is about the strongest kind of love there is. You are willing to take the blame for something you couldn’t help, and a pain you never wanted to cause for someone you loved so much at one time. Someone is always going to be the villain, whether they deserve it or not, and owning it is an incredibly difficult thing to come to terms with, and it lasts for a long time. I’ve been obsessed with these @toryburch jeans for over a year, when they first came into my store (Swipe right to see why - that fringe!) ‘Body’ has hit 1m on YouTube. The first video I’ve shot to do so! Almost 2 years ago @juliajacklin and I drove out to the Hay Plains, NSW with an enormous star (Britney inspired made by the wonderful @jordanisabellla). We didn’t get to the field where JJ dances till the sun was starting to really move down quick. We fumbled setting up the star before it was too dark to shoot. Shortly after wrapping and the sun dipped over the horizon, 180 deg behind us the moon began to rise, like the sun had just done a quick lap of the globe. It was insane. Its unbelievable how talented these designers are and I loved being able to see designs from students that were my age” - @alvssa_ ALYSSA’S HIGHLIGHTS: - Future Runway: It’s such a wonderful opportunity that PPF has provided where fashion students are able to showcase their designs on a runway. I personally loved the looks with matching sets or oversized blazers. It’s cool that business attire can now be worn as just everyday wear. I also admired the representation of culture in different looks. - @departmentonbeaufort First of all, the classical music along with the singing was so beautiful and went together nicely with the collection. I loved the use of the wide brimmed hats and the small case-like bags. Also it was interesting to see suits worn with sandals. It added a very casual vibe to an outfit that’s usually quite formal, and it’s definitely something I want to recreate. This week I asked one of our returning Young Ravens what she learned about yoga last week and she replied that it is my body and I dont have to do anything that makes me uncomfortable Yes! If this was her one takeaway then we have fulfilled our mission. Our Young Ravens program is so much more than doing yoga poses. We teach body autonomy, body awareness, and empowerment while letting young people express themselves in a way that feels safe to them. Your child may not learn perfect alignment for every yoga pose, but they will learn some tools to help them build resilience in this wild world we live in. We do still have some spots remaining in our Young Ravens program and it is not too late to join. Prices have been pro-rated to acknowledge the classes that have passed.
