Recap: Didn’t have a real plan going in, just wanted that AO Series qualification of 203kg. 1st: 89kg Totally slipped on the platform which was awkward (golden rule for competing: don’t miss the opener). Oops 2nd: 90kg Favorite lift of the competition. Felt great, and got a number on the board 3rd: 92kg. PR! Could’ve been better on the way up due to squatting forward instead of squatting up. 4th: 111kg Super light CJ buuuut it was the magic number to send us to #AO2020 5th: 115kg Pretty conservative jump, was feeling fatigued but wanted to get heavy 6th: 120kg Aright lets do something rash. My last set of HSPU was a little slow (2nd video) and l was definitely on the verge of failure. vou deixar aqui essa imagem de 2014 pra falar de uma parada que eu to louca pra fazer textão. atividade física é uma coisa relativamente nova na minha vida (6 anos). Eu era 100% sedentária e como vcs devem saber eu tenho asma tbm, o que não me incentivava a começar algo tbm. Em 2014 descobri o Crossfit e fiquei obcecada, fui fazer educação física e todo o pacote completo. O que aconteceu ali pra mim foi que eu ganhei capacidade de fazer coisas e pensar em atividades que antes eram impossíveis pra mim (o Crossfit tbm me deu uma esposa mas isso não vem ao caso agora). Viajar e conseguir passear andando era uma coisa horrível, decidir fazer por um dia alguma coisa diferente era impossível. Agora eu consigo ir escalar pra ver como é, jogar beach tênis com meus amigos, fazer yoga, andar de bike com o pai da li, acompanhar minha mãe na musculação que ela finge que não gosta, ir no box que ela treina pra provar pras amigas dela que eu consigo levantar peso, participar de um campeonato de LPO pra ganhar a primeira medalha da minha vida e o que mais surgir. Tem diversas coisas q eu não gosto de fazer, tipo correr, e eu não me obrigo nem um pouco, até onde eu sei eu não sou atleta de nada então me dou esse direito de só fazer o q me deixa feliz e me motiva. Finally ...Get Up PR 🥰 It’s ugly but I’ll take it. 28kg/61.6lbs/52% Bodyweight (ish). . . I promised myself earlier this summer I wouldn’t touch the 28kg for a get up until September. Patience isn’t a virtue that comes naturally to me 🤷🏻‍♀️🤪, but I stuck to my promise. Kept at it every day mixing in volume with 20kg/22kg and slow tempo with 24kg. Strength training has taught me a patience and discipline that this little bag of crazy couldn’t have found doing anything else, it really is a process and a practice. Henry Rollins said it best, the iron never lies. . . There’s an intricate fluid system in our ear canals that greatly influence our ability to maintain equilibrium. ⁣A simple tilt or turn of the head can have an impact. ⁣ 3️⃣ 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 - Pretty self-explanatory. Take away our ability to see and maintaining balance becomes more difficult. Pregnancy is a trip man. The truth that every pregnancy is different is very much based on the fact that before your first born, it was just you. Second rodeo you’re chasing a small human around who goes REAL hard from the moment he wakes up to the moment he sleeps, all while praying he doesn’t stuff any more matchbox cars down the toilet while your cooking. It’s glorious but it’s also exhausting. I’m soaking up the time and often reeling myself back to the present moment, because once baby girl lands, we’re in for a whole new world #cantfreakingwaittho. Workouts this time around are much different. Very early on, moving the barbell felt like crap. Occasionally I flirt with some light powers or front/back squats but the bulk of my training is body weight or slangin KBs/DBs. I’m very cautious about my abs because I was a knuckle head during my pregnancy with Colt and pushed way too hard too soon postpartum, that I didn’t allow my body time to heal. I’m very confident that being cautious now and after baby girl is born will make rehab and progressing back to CrossFit & weightlifting smoother. Any movement that causes my abs to dome or simply doesn’t feel good I scrap and sub for something else. I have reoccurring dreams about muscle ups and heavy CJs but thankfully I’m patient and wise enough to know that the next chapter of training will be the best yet. The modality is different right now but my determination to learn and grow has remained. This chapter is all about strengthening my mental and spiritual game and frankly, learning to move differently is a blessing. My favorite new addition is weekly virtual yoga with my homegirl and personal coach @anna.alm.bran. While my body is rapidly changing and growing this baby girl, it’s very easy to feel out of whack. Anna has helped me stay centered and in tune with my breath and I can’t even tell you how important and powerful it’s been. Here’s a video of 85k back squats from a week ago. Is it humbling to squat what I was snatching regularly? No. Because getting strong and back in shape is easy and familiar territory. Today’s main lift was 3 sets of 1 minute max rep log presses. Log Press requires a lot of extension, external rotation. and compression so accessory work consisted of drills that restore posterior expansion and address pelvic orientation via abs/obliques and hamstrings and ribcage orientation via posterior and pump handle expansion and serratus. . 1️⃣ Fat Grip Band Pulldown. Why reinforce a shoulder blade moving over a flattened ribcage? A short seated position in combination with a MB hug forces airflow posteriorly and lets the shoulder blade glide over a now concave ribcage. Plus, hamstrings via driving heels into the box. 2️⃣ Ball Nordic Slider. Abs and hamstrings work together to stabilize and manipulate the pelvis/pelvic floor and ribcage/diaphragm into alignment. Reaching (upward rotation of scap) requires posterior expansion and serratus. 3️⃣ SL Hamstring Curl on a ball. A goodie from @davidgreyrehab. Intermuscular coordination at the calf and hamstring. For this one I challenge @coachdanallison. Vids or it didn’t happen. Its a doozy! . As @compoundperformance_ so eloquently puts it, movement lies on a continuum and the closer you stay to the center the more options you have available to you. What a day! 🥳 I haven’t been lifting a ton the last few months (lots of quarantine CrossFit) but did a meet real quick to try and qualify for the AO in Vegas 💃🏻 this fall with my girl @crossfitlex. Swipe for my heaviest snatch and clean + jerk of the day! We qualified, went 6/6, got 1st in my weight class & most importantly, had a blast. There’s always work to do, but man I’ve come a lonnnng way in putting less pressure on myself and just enjoying training/competing. The more I appreciate what my body can do, lean into the process + worry less about “failure”, the more fun life (and working out) is. STORY TIME- Heading into the final day, @karipearcecrossfit was in 11th place, 49 points out from snagging the 5th and final spot to advance to Aromas for the second part of the @crossfitgames. Meanwhile @bethanycf and @daniellebrandon7 were pushing through some injuries to get wins where they could, and take experience into the upcoming season. On Saturday night, these two inspiring ladies decided that they would do whatever they could to help KP learn from each event so she could give it her best effort. They went out there and smashed Nancy, and helped Kari get her game plan. The same happened for the handstand hold and Annie. In an individual sport, (where these women are some of the best in the world) they decided as a team (unprompted) to do something bigger than themselves, and compete to the best of their abilities to help a friend who had a long shot opportunity to qualify for the next stage, succeed. On a Saturday I have a fun session in the gym. It’s a session I get to do all the exercises I wouldn’t typically put into my programming however, fun saturday is very much a big part of my training. It’s not a session I take easy or don’t push the weight up. It’s a session to do other things mainly cleans, DB snatches, Slam ball tosses, KB swings, Ski Erg etc. I don’t worry about the volume of the session compared to the week before, it’s a training day I train to my energy level as it’s the 6th day on the trot and my 3rd leg day (sorta), it’s a day I go in and work hard without worrying if it’s 10kg or 40kg. I love training and if lockdown taught me one thing it was I like training if I’m using bands or using a barbell because it’s your intensity and the mindset you have on a session that makes it fun or not. And yes I use the word fun because even though it hurts it is fun 😂 So here is me having fun, swipe if you want to see me not do a squat clean on my first attempt. Alltså våga ta i, dra ner repsantalet, äta för att prestera, våga vila för att utvecklas. Nä snarare gjorde dom tvärt om. Träna för mycket hiit, tränade för många pass på raken och åt för lite kolhydrater. Min vision i träning är att folk ska våga ta i och känna sig som superwomen/superman eller vad man du vill vara super som! 🤩 Mitt mål är att få dela detta med mera personer. I haven’t posted in a while. Life has been off the chain. October started with heart testing, November minor surgery, December brought in pneumonia. I started working out 2 weeks ago after all this. I signed up for this individual competition back in October. I like to follow through on things so I decided to stay true on this that I signed up for so I competed for “fun” and not stress myself out 😏 haha ya right ?! I really did stay mostly calm and said I’m gonna do my best of what I can do right now not being 100%. Well I paced almost every workout almost perfect I was so proud of myself. Never placed lower than 4th and ENDED UP FREAKING FIRST OVERALL!! This was my first individual competition since 2014 CrossFit Central East Regionals. I’d like to say I’m ready for more 😏!! The first week I felt stronger week over week since I started losing weight back in March. It was across all lifts too. First video is a 385lbs deadlift from this week, weighing in around 169lbs. For comparison sake, second video is a 365lb deadlift from back in March when I weighed around 188lbs. . Third video is one of my sets of 285lbs on the Candito deadlift, included here because it’s just a bad ass looking lift at the top. . Squats have been a struggle for a while, but every now and then I have a good day. I started my training week today with a great squat session, including a smooth 320lbs single that Is just the beginning! . I’ve still got 4-5 more pounds to lose to reach my goal of 165lbs, and after that, if this week is any indication, I will someday be stronger at 165-170lbs than I ever was at 185lbs+.. . Don’t Neglect Your Ability to Move. ••• It’s easy to get carried away with fancy training techniques with different tools and instruments but nothing can replace ones ability to control and manipulate their own body weight. I often try to provide the perspective of when playing your sport, there are no dumbbells or barbells present and although it is important to provide overload on your body with such tools, grading our ability to control rotations and produce high amounts of force quickly should be done without weights. ••• In the videos above, the @chapbasketball squad is demonstrating portions of our warm up protocol from yesterday’s session. So a rhino and a giraffe walk into a gym... This past weekend @jcummings512 and I did the @caffeineandkilos Battle Royale. 30 minutes of pure fitness! We managed to pull out a win and earn $1000. Jenn isn’t the biggest fan of burpees or thrusters but she did what needed to be done and was able to keep up with me for the whole workout. Then I hit a big power clean at 357 lbs and she stepped up and hit an equally, if not more, impressive 202 lb power clean. • Some days things don’t go well. Sometimes they do. Since I have videos of all of my games workouts I thought it would be fun to do a little recap on each workout from the weekend. I do apologize for the video quality, my phone was the backup recording device, so we weren’t too worried about its setup position. Workout 1 (friendly Fran): my worst finish (5:26, 22nd place) and my proudest workout. Why? Because I went out hard and I DIED but I didn’t give up. First video you can see me walking up to the barbell for my final set of thrusters, I vividly remember feeling like my body was starting to shut down and I really didn’t want to pick up the barbell. But I said to myself “you have a choice right now, a choice to fight, or a choice to give up.” So I chose to fight. I still fell apart (like legit blackout status) and was doing singles for majority of the final set of C2B. My body may have failed but my mind DID NOT. We learned a lot from this workout and I’m seriously so proud of my effort. Ps this was only the 2nd time in my crossfit history that I’ve gotten sick from a workout🤢 (other time was open workout rowing and thrusters😆). I Also learned to always run to the finish line after the workout🤦🏼‍♀️.
