Yacimiento arqueológico de Acinipio. “El yacimiento arqueológico de Acinipo, se ubica en una gran mesa caliza de origen terciario, con una altitud media de 999 mts. sobre el nivel del mar. Su prominencia en la Depresión de Ronda le confirió un claro valor estratégico, factor este que fue tenido en cuenta en época preromana y romana a la hora de emplazar el núcleo poblacional. Acinipo es uno de los asentamientos cuyo nombre aparece por primera vez en un texto clásico como el de Ptolomeo y Plinio. Este yacimiento ha sido objeto de atención por muchos investigadores; las primeras noticias aparecen ya en, el siglo XVI con Lorenzo de Padilla, siendo Fariña del Corral, en 1650, quién identificó el teatro como de época romana. Aunque la mayoría de los restos visibles son romanos, no podemos olvidar los importantes restos prehistóricos de la ciudad. Los hallazgos más antiguos se remontan al Neolítico, teniendo continuidad en la Edad del Cobre y la del Bronce. Va a ser en la fase prehistórica y con el impacto colonizador fenicio cuando Acinipo tenga un auge importante, que se verá rematado en época romana, precedida de la fase ibérica. La factores que intervinieron en la ubicación de Acinipo, en el espacio actual son múltiples. De una parte su prominencia en la depresión, como uno de los puntos más altos de ésta, le confirieron un claro valor estratégico y de dominio visual del territorio circundante. De otra, el enclave romano de Acinipo se encuentra en una zona de fácil comunicación con otras áreas de la provincia romana. Los accesos al Valle del Guadalquivir, a la costa gaditana y al rosario de depresiones del surco intrabético, son bien perceptibles, lo que le permitió fáciles contactos y relaciones comerciales con otras áreas, según se desprende de los hallazgos numismáticos (Acinipo gozó de la potestad de acuñar monedas). Otro factor que influyó en la ubicación de este núcleo fue la disponibilidad de tierras potencialmente fértiles para uso agrícola. Estas tierras explotadas desde el Neolítico, tuvieron una gran importancia en época romana, e incluso en nuestros días siguen siendo las más aptas para la agricultura de la Depresión de Ronda.” - @rondaesmaravillosa on Instagram
