Some preventable actions include: flying your dirt bikes rather than idling on the ground, using rubber bands to tow your trailers instead of chains, and swallowing your cigarettes after you’ve finished smoking them. Saguaros do not generally recover from these fires. They take well over a hundred years to reach adulthood (like many of the reckless among us). They are the great keepers of this desert. Another lap around the sun was commemorated by yours truly yesterday. It was well spent, with @louisewrightphoto, road tripping from the wildlife haven of the Bunya Mountains up to this incredible oasis. Auburn River National Park didn’t seem very epic upon stumbling upon it during a google search. The images and description were not overly impressive. No one had even heard of it when I asked around. Which, to me, meant it sounded perfect for a visit! Of course, the Park is absolutely stunning. One of many of the less-visited gems scattered throughout the @outbackqueensland region of @queensland. От самых древних вулканов остались возвышености из окаменевших материалов извержений. Что посмотреть: ➡Вулканы в районе Хазарского государственного заповедника: Кипящий бугор, Чикишляр, Ак-Патлаук (самый активный, высотой 100м и диаметром кратера 200м.), вулкан Калицкого, Туйнукли, Кеймирская группа, Порсы. ➡К северу, в районе поселка Чикишляр находится «кочевой вулкан» диаметром до 60м. В 2006 году он был в море, а сегодня на суше. ➡Вулкан Кеймир диаметром 200м. и высотой до 10м. Расположен в нескольких километрах севернее поселка Чикишляр. ➡Вулканы северной группы Кеймир-Чикишлярского района: Экерем (погребенный) и Геок-Патлаук, высота которого 150 метров. ➡Вулкан Боядаг - один из самых больших, самый красивый и самый восточный. Сегодня это сильно расчлененная возвышенность, вытянутая в ширину более чем на 20 км. ➡Вулканы Алигул (с самыми мощными извержениями), Западный Порсугель и Розовый Порсугель - представляют собой кратерные озера. Где расположены? На Юго-Западе Туркменистана на площади длиной более 300 и шириной до 100 км. От поселка Эсенгулы и до Челекене (Хазар), в так называемой Западно-Туркменской впадине. Kirkjubæjarklaustur is the only village located on this extraordinary stretch of road between Vík and Höfn. With its six-syllable mouthful of a title most people just refer to it as “Klaustur” meaning cloister – a reference to a now vanished convent established in 1186. The town’s connection to the church is reflected in place names such as Systrafoss (Sisters’ Fall), a pretty waterfall on the west side of town which pours out from the elevated Systravatn (Sisters’ Lake). Cet été, j’ai décidé de partir à la découverte de la Côte-Nord. Cette région est un trésor caché du Québec. De la nature intacte, des saveurs boréales, des kilomètres de plage et une région qui est prête à vous épater. Dans les prochaines publications je vais vous parler de différentes activités et produits de ce coin aux milles et une facettes!🐳 Notre première destination est le Ruisseau Rouge. C’est un endroit qui est situé au Havre-Saint-Pierre et il mérite de se faire découvrir. C’est une place qui est très semblable aux paysages de l’archipel Mingan, mais c’est beaucoup plus facile d’accès. C’est seulement une petite randonnée d’environ 30 minutes pour vous rendre au ruisseau. 🌊 Si vous partez d’Havre-Saint-Pierre vers Natashquan, vous pouvez faire un pitstop pour aller voir cet endroit et même casser la croûte avant de reprendre la route (en apportant votre lunch bien sûr) !🥪 Faites attention à vous si vous voulez admirer le ruisseau d’en bas. This spring break I was lucky enough to spend my time outside. The canyons, arches, towering sandstone walls, rivers, and bright skies of Utah were beautifully welcoming. 📍Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park General Tips • 🇦🇺Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory Australia • 🥾 Invest in a good pair of hiking boots and try to break them in before your trip. The most amazing hikes here are often on uneven surfaces and running shoes don’t provide enough support. You really will miss out on the most spectacular views If you don’t go on these hikes. You get to see both rock formations up close and from different angles that you won’t see from the short walks or the sunset/sunrise viewing areas • 👕 Wear- light loose clothing and a hat. A fly net is strongly recommended. • 📝 The biggest misconception we had about visiting Uluru, was that you could walk out of your hotel and you were at the rock. All accomodation is located at the resort town of Yulara. Whilst the rock formations are huge and you can easily see them from viewing stations around the town, Uluru itself is around a 30 min drive away. The National Park is about a 10 min drive from Yulara. Kata Tjuta/The Olgas is a 45 min drive from Yulara AND Uluru. To get to Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park from the town of Yulara requires either a hire car or being at the mercy of tour bus times. Entry requires a parks pass which you can pre pay online or at the ticket booth to the entry. • 🔍 We highly highly highly recommended you hire a car during your visit particularly if you plan on driving up to Kings Canyon (a must to visit in our books!). We rented a car for a week so we could come and go as we please and weren’t at the mercy of waiting on tour buses or being surrounded by other people. We like to explore places if possible where we aren’t swamped by other tourists which is why we also started our walks early in the morning and why we visited out of “Peak” season (summer December-March). We would only see 2-3 other groups of people on walks/hikes which allows you to really enjoy the surroundings and get great photos! • You must buy a parks pass to be able to enter the National Park. Things have been a little bit tumultuous behind the scenes here so I haven’t had the urge to get back on the horse until now. Let’s just say I’m glad August is nearly over and I can put it behind me. That being said I’m really proud of this shot and it was taken at the start of August so it wasn’t all bad. The road out there on the other hand definitely was haha 😬. I’d barely slept the night before so I hit the road well before the sun had risen and the I can tell you the corrugations on the road definitely woke me up. Super happy with the highlights down the bottom where the first rays of sunlight hit the foliage on top of the cliffs and managed to get a triplet of 3 receding waves. While the desert biome has always held my heart along with the rolling, riparian hills that comprise my home, when I see a photo of mountains I long to spend days at a time hiking through glacial passes and forested valley floors. Each year from my main very full time job, I take a vacation somewhere that doubles as a bonus to my landscape photography passion. This year I believe I’ve narrowed it down to two choices: Yosemite or Denali National Parks. For those that have followed me over the years, Yosemite was the very first National Park I ever visited and fell immediately in love with it’s beauty. Im currently on a weeks holiday. Wandering out Yonder in Kalbarri, with what seems like the rest of Western Australia 😉. Seeing lots of Margies locals up here. But recognised a very noticeable Margaret River boy flying by this morning. Jackson McLeod flying his chopper back from the Broome holiday season for the start of the Margaret River holiday season 👍. Как менталитет 90-х повлиял на то, что мы все выгорели! Почему «дети 90-х» не умеют отдыхать, работают до нервных срывов и не могут справиться с болезненным перфекционизмом? А главное, при чем тут детские сериалы? Коуч трудоголиков Ольга Полищук рассказывает, почему это поколение успело выгореть уже к 30-ти годам: Когда вы впервые услышали фразу: «Лучший отдых – это смена деятельности»? Вы тогда уже пошли в школу? А как это случилось: отказывались делать домашку, ленились убирать комнату, хотели посмотреть «Зену — королеву воинов»? Установка про то, что каждую минуту своей жизни мы должны занять чем-то, что приносит ощутимую пользу, а «отдохнем на том свете», засела во многих из нас со школьной скамьи... Статья очень большая и интересная, ее суть в том, что отдыхать мы не умеем. Боимся упустить свой шанс, лёжа на диване между работой: Регулярный отдых, как синоним лени, — вещь такая же распространенная в головах 30-летних, как и миф о том, что только жесткое руководство может быть эффективным. Страх нажать на паузу часто связан с установкой — «останавливаться нельзя — иначе обойдут на повороте». Это страх, как и любой другой, разрушается под воздействием опыта. Если коротко: 🔹Регулярный отдых поддерживает необходимый уровень энергии. 🔹Энергия нужна как топливо для всех достижений и дел. 🔹Понимание своего состояния важно, потому что из этой точки мы принимаем решения. 🔹Если вы живете не по средствам, и ваши расходы энергии регулярно превышаю доходы, то по внутренней кредитке скоро набегут неподъемные проценты, и сумма долга сильно возрастает. 🌹 Do you feel a bit more ‘back to normal’ yet? Or maybe just that the #unprecedentedtimes normal really has become the ‘New Normal’ now? How sick are you of hearing, ‘New Normal’?! 😬 . This week Darcy’s gone back to school, Pearl has started back at her baby group class thing and I went to London for my @swarovski shoot (quick, it’s on stories!) so it’s felt very ‘back to normal’ I think. Or as normal as it can look when you’re doing staggered drop offs, masks, reduced numbers etc. . I wanted to do a little Friday night appreciate post for Liam❤️, who throughout this whole not-very-normal experience, has been a total rock. I’ve found it a bit of an emotional rollercoaster and having his steady calm by my side each day has been exactly what I need. Not much flusters Liam, he’s a sturdy kinda guy- unless he’s hangry haha! . Hurrah for all the calming influences in our lives, hurrah for finding good men (or women, or people) and hurrah for it being the end of a fairly normal week! It ain’t often things are as spectacular as you envision. Feeling pretty bladdy lucky to have seen the heart of Australia, glowing like an ember at the end of another hot day, and remarkably with hardly anyone else around. Well folks, weve reached the end of my takeover for Smithsonian Magazine. Thank you very much to the editorial team for giving me this opportunity, and to all of you for tuning in! When I originally went to Sudan, my hope was to explore a story that was different from the norm. By the time I left, I was overflowing with ideas but unsure of which thread to follow. Guidance to this came to me while boarding my flight back to Nairobi at the very end of the trip. Shortly after I took my seat, an elderly Nubian woman sat next to me and was perplexed as to what a young American was doing there. When I said I was a journalist, she sighed and asked which conflict I was covering this time. I answered that I wasnt there for that, but was instead hoping to show people a different side of Sudan and actually encourage more to visit. After sitting introspectively for a few moments she smiled and said Finally, somebody has come to tell a story that nobody else has been willing, to show the world a positive side of our country. While I thought she was being awfully generous in describing my efforts, her words did resonate. I wanted to step away from the headlines that most of us are familiar with, centered upon war, famine, and political instability, and show that while these issues are critically important to understanding Sudan, they are not the only narrative. This is Southern Paiute territory. There were different bands in this area that arent here today but that were here in the past and their descendents still live on. The Paiutes are still here. Our people, they relied upon this land to provide for them and to keep them alive and the earth gave them everything that they needed. Today, Paiute people view Bryce Canyon basically just as your normal visitor, but we still consider it part of our homelands, part of our aboriginal territories. This is still a part of our country. We still claim it. Heres to another 15 🥂 The joint owners of Kalgoorlies Super Pit Gold Mine have just released a statement saying that due to more gold deposits being found, the mine has extended its life another 15 years and that production will increase from ~450,000 punces per annum to over 675,000 ounces by 2027. Big news for the Kalgoorlie Boulder town! If there’s anything we’ve learned as we come up on the 1 year anniversary of starting In Creative Co. (woah), it’s that we create our best work when we’re taking care of ourselves. Sure, year one was all about making connections and well, creating, creating, AND creating. But as we journey through the rest of 2020, we’re all about making sure we take the time to pause and B R E A T H E. Creativity isn’t something that should feel rushed or forced, rather, its something that deserves the time to flow. While we know SOMETIMES magical things happen under pressure, burnout is a real thing, and certainly not the ideal situation for creativity.
