🍀Blurb Set in the Industrial era, Charles Dickens’ Hard Times is a realistic classic novel written during the Victorian period. The novel talks about the arduous situations each human goes through. Although the city novel talks about it fictional, it is a true reflection of the Victorian society. From middle-class workers who just like machines served their whole life to work to the swift change of humans behaviour to being mechanical. It’s a story about Mr Gradgrind’s system, Bounderby, Louisa’s trappings, the darkness of Tom, Sissy Jupes imaginative world and James Harthouse standing apart from the menfolk. The novel takes a big twist when gradually facts are kicked off by fancy imagination. . . . ☘Opinion The language is simple and colloquial. As you read, there comes a point when you can predict with ease what’s coming up next. What surprised me was how the novel shifts from the main plot and revolves about only a few protagonists and their life. The characters are well- sketched and undergoes some transformation by the end of the novel, except for Mr Bounderby and Louisa. . . . ☘What I disliked the most I personally feel facts can lift you to prosperity but emotions can never be ignored. Life has a meaning which can only be found through emotions and love. Moreover, I was expecting Sissy Jupe to play a greater role. She is a perfect embodiment of fancy and fun. But, the plot surrounded mostly around Gradgrind’s system of facts. Also, when James Harthouse was introduced in the novel, there was a growing streak visible between Louisa and him. Louisa was always seen fulfilling the wishes of others, doing everything she could for her brother, Tom. This should be pretty obvious, but it is important to do. This will give valuable context to the documentation and code that you look at later.⠀ ⠀ 📔Read the documentation: Start by reading any available information about the architecture, best practices, custom components, and vocab terms that may be available about the project. This will give you a high level understanding of how the project works.⠀ ⠀ 👩💻 Fix a bug or do a small deliverable: Once you have enough context, then the best thing to do is get your hands on the code - build something! Fixing a bug or creating something small is a good way of getting exposure without being so overwhelmed with so many different parts of the code.⠀ ⠀ 👥 Use your team: They are there to help and will have useful knowledge of the practicalities of developing in the codebase. Typically there are code area owners who are most familiar with an area because they wrote it or worked in it recently. They are great resources to use when you get stuck or want someone to explain a part of the code you will be working in. 💡 Accept you wont understand everything: And you don’t have to! Codebases can be massive. Most people will never be completely familiar with every part of the code. You will continuously increase your knowledge of the codebase as you work in different parts. starting is the hardest part! when it comes to my goals, I often find that starting is the hardest part, whether my goal is as simple as wanting to wake up early or more complicated, like pushing myself to study for an exam. take this morning, for example. I got back from yoga and felt super lethargic; the last thing I wanted to do was to study for my orgo 2 (or ochem 2, depending on what state you’re in) exam that’s a couple of weeks after spring break. I’ve been in this position many times before though, and I know that I’ve found myself regretting time I’ve wasted during break or over the weekend, so eventually I forced myself to sit at my desk and study, and actively add notes to the lecture notes I made in class. (The notes on the laptop are the notes my prof took and posted before she lectured :) of course rest is important, and you should make sure you do what your body needs, but balance is key as well! too much of anything is a bad thing and the same goes for lounging (or as I like to say, löafing) around when you have responsibilities to tend to. like the Ingrid Michaelson song that was stuck in my head earlier today, when you really don’t feel like studying sometimes you have to “do it now” (highly recommend that song btw, it’s a good one :) I hope you guys had a great Monday as well! hello & welcome to my chaos. sorry I’ve been MIA!! It’s finals szn and I feel like everyone’s in survival mode. It’s a different ~vibe~ this semester with everything online though. It didn’t really hit me that it was finals week until yesterday ahahah. 06.05.2020 ✨ The last days I did get a lot of work done - I feel really productive and I do like our new online lectures. It gives me much more freedom to work whenever I like and I can pause, take a break or just listen to a part again and again and again 😂🙈 How do you get along with online school / lectures at the moment? ✨ I do get the challenges of studying at home but I just try to focus on the positives side of online lectures. - @andotherlawstories on Instagram

08.05.2020 ✨A little note for you - It‘s ok to take a break 💕 As a matter of fact, everyone deserves a break every now and then. ✨ Your body wasn’t made to run at full speed all the time. Not war your mind made to fade day and night. Work hard, but find time to give yourself a break. Find a time that works for you. For me it’s always weekends - I visit my parents and spend time with my boyfriend. It’s important to give yourself a break. ✨ Do you have any plans for the weekend? Foco nos estudos em período de isolamento social e ensino a distância: Durante a pandemia alguns alunos estão tendo a oportunidade de continuar estudando com o auxílio do colégio ou universidade em casa. Mas como focar estudando em casa? Como conseguir ter a disciplina de continuar estudando todos os dias e acompanhar o conteúdo? O que eu tenho feito pra continuar com tudo em dia o máximo que consigo é continuar acordando nos meus horários normais e assistindo as vídeo aulas assim que elas chegam (o que as vezes não acontece mas eu juro que tento!). Manter o sono regulado é uma das coisas mais difíceis eu sei, mas definitivamente é o que mais me ajuda a manter a produtividade nos estudos. Eu estudo sempre no mesmo lugar, sem bagunça e distrações por perto. No silêncio, eu não tenho uma playlist de estudos como a maioria das pessoas, não consigo me concentrar com nenhum tipo de música. Eu nunca estudo o dia todo e as vezes nem todos os dias, ninguém é uma máquina de produtividade. Essas são algumas coisinhas que funcionam pra mim! E com vocês? Como conseguem manter o foco? LAST FIRST EXAM OF NURSING SCHOOL: ✅. I feel like it went really really well!!! There is one question I know I got wrong and a couple that I made educated guesses on, but other than that I feel like I kicked butt! I won’t know my grade until tomorrow around 3pm (even tho we took the exam online😑) but oh well lol. I’m so grateful to have this first exam under my belt. Only 2 more exams and then the comprehensive final within the next 6 weeks! Still needing good vibes sent my way before I get my grade tho😂 - @nursingpremed on Instagram
