Linda Louise Eastman, que el 24 de septiembre hubiera cumplido 79 años, se había ganado el prode y la grande de navidad casándose con el soltero más codiciado del mundo. Después nos enteramos que el matrimonio se precipitó cuando el bueno de Paul se enteró del embarazo de la linda de Linda. La alegría por el nacimiento de Mary, 5 meses después del casamiento, duró poco: la interna de Los Beatles estaba al rojo vivo y Paul entró en una etapa de depresión y excesos a la que Linda le puso el pecho, mientras daba el ídem a la pequeña Mary y se ocupaba de su hija mayor, Heather. La pareja, lejos de llevar la vida de glamour entre ricos y famosos que todos fantaseábamos, se fue a vivir a una austera chacra en Kintyre, Escocia. Y sólo los separó la muerte de linda, el 17 de abril de 1998, a los 56 años. Entonces ¿a qué se refiere el derecho constitucional a la protesta? Por un lado, un gobierno primitivo que destruye lo que queda. Por el otro, una oposición congelada, dependiente de terceros y fracturada por intereses encontrados que no puede resolver por ausencia de reglas de juego comunes para dirimir sus diferencias e incapaz de desarrollar estrategias creíbles para presionar el cambio.
