Beste team, Als kind raakte ik geïnspireerd door @bart_wellens en zijn doorzettingsvermogen in de cross. Daardoor ben ik zelf op de fiets gestapt en beginnen crossen. Het was voor mij op dat moment ondenkbaar dat ik amper een paar jaar later ook mijn carrière als veldrijder in dit team zou beginnen. Om bovendien ook nog eens de kamer te mogen delen met mijn jeugdidool in de laatste jaren van zijn carrière gaf me nog meer motivatie om er vol voor te gaan. Dat zijn mooie jeugdherinneringen waar ik nog regelmatig aan terugdenk. Daarna moest ik zelf vol aan de bak om het te maken als prof. Met trots kan ik zeggen dat ik in die opzet geslaagd ben. Dit was onmogelijk zonder alle hulp die ik van het team heb gekregen. De eerste jaren onder leiding van Hans Van Kasteren, waar ik veel van geleerd heb. Daarna nam Sven Nys de fakkel over. Eerlijk, in het begin had ik mijn twijfels. Maar hoe langer ik bij Sven in het team zat hoe meer ik tot het besef kwam dat hij alles met heel veel liefde voor de sport doet. Zoiets moedig ik alleen maar aan. Naast de bekende namen die het meest in de media komen zat daarachter een fantastisch team aan verzorgers, mecaniekers, ploegleiders en renners. En zeker niet te vergeten de drijvende krachten achter de ploeg Kris Wouters en Karen Ramakers. De grote motoren zoals ik ze graag noem. Zij zorgden er altijd voor dat wij nergens iets tekort kwamen. Tot mijn allerlaatste cross, gisteren in Diegem, voelde ik me deel van de ploeg. Dat apprecieer ik enorm. Bedankt allemaal voor de mooie jaren. Ik ga ze nooit vergeten. New Campsites to Enjoy! We hope you all enjoyed Parks Day and would like to remind everyone that 180 new campsites have been added for the 2020 season as part of the ongoing campsite expansion program. This includes 39 backcountry sites at Circlet Lake, for a total of 60 tent pads. This photo is from the new backcountry sites at Circlet Lake - theres a video of the construction on our Facebook. Located in Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island, the Circlet Lake campground also has several new amenities for campers that will reduce the environmental impact on the lake and surrounding area. BC Parks has also started construction of a new campground in Manning Park that will provide more than 90 RV sites that are targeted for completion in the fall. Via Idra. Era un sogno nel cassetto, tra il 16 ed il 17 luglio, io, @gabrielesboarina e @matteociaira l’abbiamo realizzato. Una via alpina ticinese che passa da 12 capanne, Corno Gries, Cristallina, Garzonera, Leit, Tencia, Sponda, Barone, Cognora, Efra, Cornavosa, Borgna e Monti Motti. Lunga quasi 110km di cui 90 su sentieri alpinstici bianco e blu sopra i 2000m di quota. Un dislivello di 9’000m positivi e quasi 11‘000m negativi. Un’attraversata molto tecnica, poco corribile, a tratti esposta, assolutamente da non sottovalutare. Su parecchi passaggi bisogna arrivare lucidi, carichi d’energia e consapevoli di dove mettere mani e piedi. Si tratta di un percorso pericoloso, non per tutti, bisogna avere una buona base alpinistica ed un’ottima condizione fisica, sia per chi volesse farla nel minor tempo possibile sia per chi la volesse farla in 12 giorni come la gente normale. Siamo partiti il 16 luglio alle 12.54 in zona Passo della Novena e siamo giunti a Tenero il 17 luglio alle 22.18. 33ore 34minuti e 5 secondi, un tempo che non dimenticherò facilmente. Una vera e propria avventura, con momenti di gioia, di crisi, di stanchezza, di carica, di sonno, d’euforia,... Ricca d’emozioni, e sono contentissimo di aver condiviso tutto questo con dei grandi soci come Gabri e Matte. Il tempo meteorologico è stato dalla nostra, per l’80% nuvole ad alta quota, visibilità perfetta, assenza totale di nebbia ed una temperatura favorevole per fare attività fisica. Un grande grazie a @marcodelo99 che ci ha fatto da servizio taxi fino alla Novena e poi assistenza a metà attraversata alla capanna Barone. Un altro grande grazie al team Capanna Leit, per il super trattamento. El poble de Tor s’ha fet famós per una truculenta història sobre la propietat de la muntanya que fa un segle que dura, i que ja ha provocat tres assassinats. El valor d’aquesta muntanya ve donat per la seva situació estratègica, ja que és un dels passos entre Andorra i el Pallars Sobirà passant pel Port de Cabús a 2.301 metres d’altitud, i també pel fet que en el vessant andorrà es troben les estacions d’esquí de La Massana i Pal que formen el complex Vallnord. Per tant, a part de la lluita per la propietat de la muntanya, antigament per l’explotació de la fusta, s’hi ha d’afegir la lluita pel seu ús entre les empreses amb aspiracions immobiliàries que veien la zona com la prolongació natural de les estacions d’esquí abans citades i els contrabandistes que utilitzaven el port pel contraban sobretot de tabac. No deixa de ser curiós el fet que el pas en la part andorrana consisteix en una carretera de 7 metres d’amplada perfectament asfaltada que finalitza en la pista sense asfaltar de la part pallaresa. D’aquestes conspiracions i lluites que van culminar en els tres assassinats, se n’han fet molts reportatges i estudis. Was mich immer am meisten bewegt... wie viel an Laufform, Selbstbewusstsein und -vertrauen Läuferinnen/Läufer in nur ein paar Tagen in den Bergen gewinnen können. Und: Ich stelle immer wieder fest, mir macht das ruhige Laufen mit den Langsameren genau so viel Spaß, wie auch mal mit den Schnellsten den Berg hochzustürmen. Und abends sitzen wir sowieso alle zusammen und keinen schert‘s, wer der Fitteste ist. Jeder wie er kann. Great 11 days on the Northville – Lake Placid Trail. Established by the Adirondack Mountain Club in 1923. Starts in Northville, 50 miles northwest of Albany, NY in the Adirondack mountains of Upstate New York. The largest state park in the United States. Winds northward through valleys and over ridges, crossing rivers and wetlands 133 miles north to Lake Placid. Planned on finishing but ended up hiking 80+ miles but only 50+ on the trail so a 1/3 completed. Wow what an a amazing area! Most nights fell asleep to the sounds of owls, loons, beaver, coyote, mountain streams, a little rain and in the lean-tos mice! Met some great and interesting people and had an easy time hitching back to my car back down in Northville. Carried a little too much stuff, food mainly as I missed the Northville Post Office by 10 minutes and carried what I had planned to mail to the Piseco PO. - @sigpatagon on Instagram

Hitting the weekend running with this comment regarding our Norvan LD shoes! . “When I got my hands on the Norvan Long Distance (LD)2 trail stoke was high. Then COVID hit and trail stoke reduced to all time low. The urge to get on trial forced me to think outside the box to sustain running and biking shape during the COVID pandemic. . Overtime as restrictions lifted and attempting to physically distant myself from other humans. I began to plot running/riding routes as remote as possible that provided max value. Without a break-in period the LD2 handled 20+ mile (or shorter) runs and 30 mile rides without any issues on variable terrain with mixed conditions. Seriously! Any trail condition (but ice) from sea level to 14K feet. Ok a bit about the shoes... Sole construction and make up appear to be a between high/low density foam providing support and responsive performance. The Vibram rubber offers confidant grip, flat 3.5mm lugs are not too aggressive allow for stable application and adaptability. . Also, workout well with flat bike peddles whenever a casual ride or out on a run/ride combo. Synthetic upper construction dries out fast, quite durable that’s reinforced in high abuse areas with padding in the heel and integrated tongue. Toe box is quite roomie providing sufficient protection keeping my toes nice and happy. For the amount of use and abuse Ive put these shoes through they are holding up really well. LD2 clean up nicely whenever out and about in town. . All that for 9.2oz! Amazing for a comfortable long distance running shoe. If looking to go lighter check out the Norvan Superlight (SL) at 6.5oz. I dubbed the Norvan SL as Flight & Light (FL), they are light and give me trail wings. Just keep in mind SL and LD2 are quite different shoes. With Fall around the corner, trail stoke high again. . Attempted to summit Tricouni Peak on Sunday but enjoyed some pretty lakes instead. We started too late and found the peak was covered in snow and in a cloud by the time we got up to Reflection Lake just below it. This is a stunning trail. 3 turquoise lakes, one spectacular waterfall, and cute marmots en route. Just the lakes and back was 9.6km and 555m gain taking the boulderfield route (going left at first fork at sign VS muddy wetland route on right). Bridge is out here (see last pic) but we just forded the river (took off shoes and went barefoot through river to avoid getting wet). Route is not a dirt path, but a boulderfield mainly, well marked with flagging tape and cairns though except through downed tree area but can still find way. Road up is a bit rough, but SUVs with decent clearance and a careful, experienced offroad driver can make it up - some avg ditches, one big washout but can navigate side, and last km loose sharp rocks. Didnt see anyone til the end, and then just one solo dude and a cpl w their pup. Couldnt leave CDA without checking out a fun climb I scoped out on Strava, and I somehow convinced @rosannekelley to come along. Good thing otherwise there wouldnt have been many photos taken. lol. This was my first long climb. 2200 feet of gain in about an hour. Rewarded by a great view and chilly descent. Managed to squeeze in 122 miles and 8000ft of climbing in 2 days. Attached is a map that details much of the outreach and mitigation measures we have undertaken in the City. This has been an all hands effort between all departments and numerous volunteers. The red area is UCSC campus and UCSCs property at the end of Delaware. This is the only property in City limits that has been evacuated. The green shaded areas are the bulk of the neighborhoods in our WUI(Wildland Urban Interface) that were contacted. The blue is our critical water infrastructure facilities that were hardened. Au sommet de la Punta Basei, Parc national du Gran Paradiso. Hier on vous montrait une photo des lacs durant la montée et aujourdhui place à une petite galerie du sommet 😍 Des beaux points de vue dans les Alpes on en a déjà vu plein, mais je crois bien que celui-ci rentre aisément dans notre top 3 des plus beaux! La Punta Basei est un sommet à 3328m et comme il est relativement isolé on a une vue incroyable à 360°. Depuis là-haut on a bien évidemment le grand paradis et ses 4061m face à nous mais on aperçoit également très bien limpressionnant Mont Blanc et tout son massif 🤩 La particularité de cette rando? Elle est vraiment accessible! Seule une partie de la montée depuis le col du Nivolet est un peu raide (mais équipée de câbles) mais tout le reste est vraiment facile! Les 30 derniers mètres jusquau sommet sont plus sport dirons-nous et tiennent davantage de la petite via ferrata que de la rando... And so our unexpected busy season comes to an early end for our foreign guests. Where we normally have a good mix of international guests from all over the world, this season we were lucky that especially our Dutch riders were still able to come and ride with us this summer! We are very grateful for everyone who made it out here this season, despite the craziness of the pandemic. Thanks to everyone for your trust in us, your enthusiasm, and really fun rides together. Heartwarming to welcome all these returning guests and meeting new riding friends too! Another long day yesterday with @laurentbibollet starting at midnight from the valley floor! We climbed Nantillons glacier via the summer route first, finding wet snow and easy mixt climbing, then on its right side to the bottom of Spencer couloir! Plan A on aiguille de Blaitiere didn’t look that good but the line we partly skied in 2014 with @dcapoz (from 50 m below summit) on Rocher de la Corde looked appealing... Climbing quickly the first 200m, we had to rope on for the last 50m to have a safer progression... Amazing ambiance and unique view from this aesthetic (and not well known) summit... After testing the snowpack with the rope and doing a 10m rappel a bit lower, we enjoyed pretty nice corn snow on technical steep ramps... After such a long long approach to come here we thought we should rather try to do some more turns so we climbed a ramp in the North face of Pointe des Nantillons. Snow was pretty bad with a hard crust (and the line is really short) but we were just happy to be here enjoying the mountains. With the afternoon storm being a bit late, we decided to try a last couloir facing West ending at the pass between Grepon and Bec d’oiseau. Quiet short again but aesthetic with steeps sections, we were lucky to find good corn snow. Then Nantillons glacier was sticky and wet and we found snow patches bringing us back to the main trail and a well deserved lift down... It was probably the first time I was skiing so late in season and it felt like a great way to end the season 😊 No informations about previous descents of those lines!
