This was my first Headroom by @trilliumbrewing, a double IPA with 8% ABV, and definitely the best beer I‘ve ever had so far. It matches everything I expect from a beer, rated it with 4.8 on Untappd. Crisp Apple / @angryorchard / sparkling / 5% . This has been my go-to cider when I find myself in a Wetherspoons - it’s much better than some of their other offerings! It’s been a while, but I was recently reunited 🍺 I’ve mentioned before, but I think my taste for cider has changed recently since reviewing so many, because this didn’t taste how I remember! It’s actually very sweet, almost like an alcoholic apple juice - with a little bit of tartness at the end. Looks like this is produced from concentrate and may even have added sugar (forgive me if I’m wrong), which is probably why it tastes more like an apple juice than a cider! At the beginning of my cider journey I probably wouldn’t have minded, but these days I prefer something a bit more traditional/natural tasting. Still giving this a 6.5/10 though as it’s a decent pub companion and we’ve shared some sweet memories. The Seasonal Brewing Co. @seasonalbrewingco Grapefruit and Rosemary Gose If you haven’t been down to Seasonal Brewing in Maylands, then you need to get that bottom of yours down there. Why? Firstly the beers are awesome guys. Something to please all visitors. I always enjoy the hazies they do and the range of seasonal beers that pop up as well. They also support other local producers with mead, cider and other options. Love to see the craft beer community and locals working together. Then there’s the food. Huge fan. Never had a bad thing there. Chef is a legend. (Go the Brussel sprouts or the Reuben croquettes.) Great atmosphere there with some fascinating art pieces. Inside and outside. Now they have added a new whisky bar. Curated by whisky lovers with knowledge on quality whisky. There are some great drops there. I really enjoyed talking whisky with the guys. Their ideal is to keep the prices reasonable as well as serve 15 ml pours so that a wide range of whisky can be tasted. Realistically, this place is a great night from start to finish. Close to the city but without the inconveniences of the city. Not only is the venue awesome, you can take their beers home. Currently they have a gorgeous gose in cans you can pick up from the venue or from your favourite local craft beer store. This one is a delightful fresh grapefruit juice lightly accentuated with rosemary. Not a thick grapefruit resinous thing. This is light refreshing grapefruit gose, with its salty finish providing an awesome palate cleanser. Easy to drink and enjoy at 4.2%. Great stuff coming from Seasonal! Get amongst it. This is the first time I’ve ever tried @goldenroadbrew ‘s Mango Cart and frankly, I did not enjoy it. Right as the can was opened I smelled an insanely fruity and juicy aroma of generic tropical scents. I was honestly kind of excited at first, but upon the first sip I only tasted juice. That is a quality I dislike in a beer. It was surprisingly more reminiscent of a pineapple cider than mango, but that may have just been me😂 Although I am aware of the appeal, this is not a brew I will be having again. I just personally prefer dank, earthy, hoppy flavor profiles and this one is essentially the opposite. “The Profanity Petition” 🤭 The start of this school year is my 13th working with kids. Being back in the building today got me reminiscing about my first job at the group home (which I wrote a little about in my “Secret Garden” post). This pink drink reminds me of one of my favorite kids ever - who I’ll call Joey - because he tried to steal a pink scarf from me soon after I met him. He pulled it off the coat rack in the office and wore it all around the house, and when I asked for it back that night, he said it was already in his dresser. “It looks great on me!” he grinned. At the time, he was sporting a tri-hawk that he had gotten at Super Cuts. I considered letting him keep the scarf - I had plenty more - but my boss was quick to point out this would be a boundary issue, and also dont ever let a teenage boy keep any article of clothing from you. ✅ Joey had his ups and downs - some downs included kicking holes in the wall, and getting into a brawl with his father at Target that required police intervention - but ultimately he did well in the program. He was a savvy self-advocate. One time, he submitted a petition to be able to say the word shit without getting consequenced. Usually petitions were a means to request a room change, or use an iPod late at night, or go for a community outing. It was hard to say whether or not Joey was kidding when he wrote: “I am petitioning to: Be able to use the word shit without getting consequenced everytime. I have been wanting to do this since: I moved in here and cant say shit. I havent been able to do this because: You guys think shit is a bad word and I get in trouble for it and I am trying not to get into trouble anymore. I feel that I am ready to do this because: Shit really isnt that bad of a word. Before I came here I used it a lot and it wasn’t a big deal. A problem like this would essentially cripple our planned limited & seasonal releases through the remainder of the year putting our production schedule in a heap of mess. After a couple weeks of stressing out, asking around for cans and worrying what we would do...we dug a little deeper into the warehouse to realize that we had some pre-printed cans that could do the job in helping us continue to bring you fun new beers! Our new series of Orleaner Weisse beers is scheduled to be releasing this week starting with this tasty Salted Watermelon Mint version! So, until we can obtain more blank cans we will be using our Green Wave cans (and maybe others) as a vessel for delivery! I am lucky enough to have an early crack at @coopersbrewery new Hazy IPA. Coopers malt, wheat and Coopers yeast combine with the hop combo of Strata and Ahtanum; the latter I hadn’t heard of before. In the paperwork supplied, it suggests this beer fits in closer with the New England style IPA rather than a West Coast style. I disagree, it has a bit more bitterness to it, which is not necessarily there on a New England. Initially the aroma produces a rose like floral bouquet before going down a citrus path. There is some sweet tangerine and orange juice alongside the customary Coopers yeast. It has a good mouth feel, medium-full that is supported by a balancing carbonation. I wouldn’t say the flavours are overly juicy as such but there is definitely the citrus present. Again, through orange, tangerine and a little bitter grapefruit. In standard Coopers fashion it finishes dry and a little bready on the back palate. I know people are excited for this hazy, but let’s be honest, Coopers have been hazy for quite some time; even before it was the cool thing to do. - @the_craftbeerking on Instagram

I haven’t had @kaijubeer Krush in a few years and revisited it after receiving one from the legend @thebrewskibloke in a beer trade. Significantly better than I remember. Nothing too fancy, just a simple drinkable pale. To be honest I didn’t really get to smell, look or taste it too much because it was gone quick smart. It definitely went down well after a long day, that’s for sure. Something special for #trackbeertuesday - I finally cracked my last can of What Could Go Wrong in order to compare it to the offering from @highlandparkbrewery. First up, Highland Park: it smells incredible, loads of fruit aroma. Taste wise, it’s like Kia-Ora, orange, sweet and no sign of booze. Possibly a bit too sweet but with a great bitterness and lime sharpness cutting through. Bloody lovely stuff, just so much much Citra. I cracked open @trackbrewingco’s and the aroma was a bit muted. It’s hardly surprising given that it’s four months old. But upon tasting it’s an immediate explosion! Sure there’s booze but so much fruit and the strata absolutely shines, adding a whole level of dankness I didn’t realise the other was missing. I guess the different colours show the main difference and comparatively Highland Park’s seems diluted. But don’t get me wrong without the track to compare I’d be singing praises of this tall glass is orange cordial. So the cuvee solve everything? Nope it’s a boozey glass of booze. Still delicious but it’s the sort of chaos I’d drink at uni. Not that I’d pay £15 on it, although I guess it being around a third of a can, it’d be an amazing £5 cocktail.
