After 4 hours of posting this #painting, @instagram has bowed to the wishes of a couple of ignorant people who don’t understand art or know anything about art history, and decided to remove it for “violence or dangerous organizations”. . . If you can’t get the underlying message of this #artwork and think this somehow encourages or promotes anything evil, then you need to open your eyes and look again. . . If such artistic #censorship were to go unchecked, then many of the masterpieces in the world’s biggest museums would be gone (Caravaggio’s “Medusa”, Goya’s “Disasters of War”, Bosch’s “Garden of Earthly Delights” just to name a few. And let’s not mention Shakespeare’s Macbeth). . . “My art is a question, not an answer”. - Gottfried Helnwein . . Art that challenged their ideology, was labeled as “degenerate art” and forbidden by the nazis. . . So please like and share this image again, we must stand up for #freespeech and fight artistic censorship! . . All the best from the team at Studio Helnwein . . Friends, Family, Peoples of the Earth, Throughout my musical journey, Ive only ever performed or recorded music as part of other people’s projects, but never carved out something to claim as my own, until now. 2020 has taken me for a wild ride. At times, I’ve found myself deep in the depths of uncertainty [job loss, social isolation, etc.], forcing me to spend a lot of time pondering, questioning, & envisioning. But these dark times were also [thankfully] contrasted with a few moments of intense clarity. I discovered a renewed vision for what it is Ive been trying to say and do with music all these years. With that said, I invite you to join me in my newest musical endeavor, @heavyjoy_. https://soundcloud.com/heavyjoy/restart Much much more to come soon. I sincerely hope you enjoy. -Ben - @benjaminkaufman on Instagram
