Introducing the band: On Drums and Lead vocals is @dylsterr17 Dylan is a co-founder of Hazzerd along with Brendan M who started the band in August of 2012. He is responsible for writing 98% of the lyrical content found on all of our projects. As well as helping configure most of the song structures throughout our catalog. Dylan took over lead Vocals back in March of 2013 due to not being able to find someone who matched the sound we wanted. He brought a lot more to the table for Delirium, having more complex drum parts/fills and exploring much darker lyrical content, & utilizing his vocal performance much further than previous efforts. For the final post celebrating the year anniversary of Changes, I’m turning it over to Terry Cole, owner of Colemine Records (and the graphic designer behind the album art). Here’s what he has to say about the artwork: “Whenever Im designing an album I always want to thread the needle by making it feel classic, but also firmly rooted in the present. And getting the classic part right means details. Whether its coloration, scale, font choice, etc. all those things come together in the right package to evoke some very familiar feelings and hopefully open the listeners ears. Its the hype stickers job to put a fine point on it. For Neals record, we were hoping to evoke subtle hints to NOLA, but we were looking at a lot of ATCO record designs from the early 70s. The font was something we were waiting to use on the right artist. I first saw it on the back cover of Electric Ladyland and immediately made sure it was in my repertoire. And that photo of Neal! It was just so spot on, so I knew all we needed to do was give it the right color treatment and wed be most of the way there. In keeping with classic elements, we kept the back black and white, and Ive always loved having easy access to lyrics, so it felt great to be able to get all of that in a simple one panel for the back cover. The design on the back came from a photo of a furnace cover. Neal had sent us some design references and I realized we had quick access to a design that was in his wheelhouse. Neals album cover and package feels so in the spirit of him and his influences....and that feels good. I hope folks agree.” - @nealfrancismusic on Instagram

- Today I found an Australian first pressing of Dead Kennedy’s debut “Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables”. Tested played it and still sounds mint.

2019 is coming to an end. It marks our 10th anniversary as a band and another exciting year for us: the release of our album ‘Runway Markings as well as several new videos, a position in the charts, two intense tours and lots of good memories with great people. We are already writing new music for a new album and making plans for touring in 2020. We’re so happy and grateful to have had Andy Schiller of @electric_horseman_band with us on the road for the whole year. He became not only an essential part of our live shows but also a very good friend. Thanks to our label @cloudshillmusic @dq_agency for bringing us on the road and @olli_frank_hh for the consistent work and our friendship. The gig was not the best one you ever played, but it was the foundation of our friendship. It took a few years to get you back on German soil to headline the second KEEP IT TRUE Festival in 2004 and this was the beginning of the second reign of Manilla Road. Not like many other one off reunion shows you bulit up a complete new fanbase with many you people falling in love to the unique Manilla sound. And it continued till last night..... In these many years of our friendship I adored your intelligence and even more your genius humor. Even if most jokes were to pity Neudi.... You were not just a musician to me, you were one of the very few REAL friends in the music business. When I needed you, you were there for me. I always looked up to you as an idol. I still have your heartbreaking words to me in my ear you said to me at Muskelrock this year. They sounded like farewell...What a bitter taste they have now. We were planning on doing a KIT hymn, written by Mark Shelton, Rob Davis and Randy Davis and Tim Baker. We will lay this to rest now too. Noone would have been more fitting to o that than you. Peaceful rest Frankie, you’ll be missed by many. 🥁🥁🥁🥁 My sincere condolences to his family and friends. The first time I met and saw Frankie Banali play was with Randy Rhoads, Chuck Wright and Kevin DuBrow at the Whiskey a Go Go in 1981. The last time I saw him was when we performed together at the Namm Jam in January. Chuck told me that was Frankie’s last performance and I was amazed at how much energy he had at that show. He kicked ass! Many fun times and memories in between. Life passes fast and it’s hard when you see your family, friends, hero’s and fellow musicians disappear so quickly. I’ve never been the biggest Quiet Riot fan. In fact it wasn’t until I heard ‘Stay With Me Tonight’ off this record that my ears really pricked up. I just dug the vibe of it, the moody Hammond B3, Paul Shortino’s bluesy wail... this was more up my alley than the band’s previous work. I know most QR purists will probably be gagging at this, but all these years on I still love that song. Of course this whole album marked a huge change for Quiet Riot, with Kevin Dubrow and Chuck Wright out of the picture, the latter replaced by Sean McNabb (who went on to play with everyone from Lynch Mob to Dokken to XYZ to Great White and more!). And though the album didn’t do very well, I think that had more to do with the fact that Quiet Riot as a band had had their time as opposed to it being a bad album. There are still some great tunes here - ‘Don’t Wanna Be Your Fool’ and ‘Run To You’ for starters. To say I was impatient for a new album from them is an understatement for sure. When this song came out as an EP I just about lost it. I still very much enjoy this album though I will always take Laugh Tracks over Blue, though I will say Laugh Tracks set the bar so high I really dont think it wouldve been fair to try to hold Blue up to its standards. The riffs are still fresh, Bryan and Isaac sound like maniacs, I think the only thing I wouldve liked from this album was to deliver a dirtier mix similar to Pop Culture and Laugh Tracks. Otherwise this album delivers the hits for sure. If you havent peeped Im kinda clueless as to where youve been all this time as its been kinda inescapable. The albums that shaped Mizmor - pt. II Wolves in the Throne Room - “Two Hunters” (2007) This album was such a huge inspiration to me leading up to the first Mizmor album (2012). It was definitely my personal gateway into black metal and remains one of my favorite’s of all time. Although other black metal albums would enter my sphere of influence over the coming years, “Two Hunters” might be solely responsible for the BM component heard on Mizmor S/T, which is saying a lot for this equal-parts doom/black metal fusion album. What grabbed my attention right away was how melodic and beautiful it was, without going so far in that direction as to forsake the darkness. I was drawn in by the slow warmth of “Dea Artio” only to fall in love with the blistering heartbreak of “Vastness and Sorrow,” still one of the most affective melodies in the genre to my ear. I had heard some songs from classic Norwegian black metal bands in passing over the years prior to discovering this album, but, although brutal, none of it had pulled my heartstrings, so to speak. I connected with this album so strongly as I was falling away from my faith in God because it filled me with a sense of yearning/longing. The chords and melodies, the tempos and tremolo picking, it all sounded so epic and grandiose, but also so personal and emotional. These were the same feelings I got when looking at the Alps or meditating on (or mourning) the idea God, and all in a very melancholic way. This album showed me that black metal doesn’t have to be one-dimensional and started me down the road to appreciating more and more of it. WIITR took the prettiness of post-rock guitar work and coated it in the frost bite of BM in an ingenious way. This sound has evolved since and many bands have gone on to take this further into the post-rock direction, which compromises that essential balance of consonance/dissonance that makes dark music moving, for me anyway. Without this album, Mizmor may well have just been a doom band. Formed in New York circa 1988, Winter played slow, deep and hard nuclear doom with a crust punk rawness, that came across like #Hellhammer jamming with #Amebix. Their penchant for mammoth sized and funeral-paced, wasteland droning has become a touchstone reference for bands across the whole spectrum of underground metal. Their pre-internet infamy led to Winter demos being tape- traded in hallowed adoration by fans and bands alike, gaining notable fans such as #Fenriz from #Darkthrone. Deserving of their special place in the pantheon of one-off classic albums, the Swans-like noise and down-tuned Earth-like riffs of Into Darkness went on to spawn countless doom and sludge bands, being an influence for an entire doomed generation. The Winter come-back show at #RoadburnFestival in 2011 was massively anticipated and held a captivated audience. Packing out one of The Netherlands largest stages, that particular Winter show, after many years in obscurity is a rare event that is still highly regarded today. The band is a rare jewel amongst collectors, and audiences alike. Svart Records is proud to re-release Into Darkness once more, having only been reissued once in a limited edition during this millennium, putting the album back in print for a new generation of listeners.
