I can count on *one hand* the number of times I was able to stop at 1 drink, and the majority of THOSE times were because I was too brutally hungover to continue drinking without projectile vomiting. So I get the impulse. And I get the need to try to joke about it so it seems less scary. Because it really IS scary; realizing you have no control over the amount of drinks you have in one sitting. I mean, OP is straight-up saying they don’t want more than one but are binging anyway! What does that mean? What does that tell you about your relationship with booze? If this feels too familiar, it might be time to try a break from alcohol. Give sobriety a whirl. Or go over to @1000hoursdry and ditch the booze for 42 days. But do something.
