RAEN 2020 harvest is all in as of yesterday🙌. Unreal year. Covid... This environmental challenge. Fires from Washington, Oregon and California. It’s the first year where the fires arrived early enough to affect our choices at RAEN given Pinot Noir buds early, ripens early and is one of the first to be picked. Mid harvest, roughly 50% done and the fires broke out forcing us to make decisions I think we can be proud of. The vintage itself was incredible leading up to this and I remain optimistic and know great wines up and down the coast will come from this vintage. I can’t wait to see, taste and be a part of them. Apart from harvest, what I’m about to say is not political. Our human existence is not blue or red. We are a part of this earth and the preservation of Mother Nature and humanity is one in the same, and ultimately a unifying cause. We know our climate is spiraling out of control, and those that don’t see this, need to get outside and spend time in nature to understand what I’m saying. In this time we should all stand together to fight climate change- no matter our differences. When looking at our country, and most countries globally, there are massive divides similar to here. But there should be one voice bringing us all together, and that is how to preserve earth, nature and humanity 🌎... This photo marked our last pick, and accurately captures the mix of feelings present through the latter half of this harvest. Masked up due to Covid, excited to sort the last bin of fruit and terrified of that orange sky above. Friar Noel Danielewicz went to the Piedmont Columbus Regional Northside ER after experiencing shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, and chills. He tested positive for COVID-19. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to ICU and put on oxygen.⁠ ⁠ He recently celebrated a birthday while hospitalized and took a few selfies while in his room alone. This guy just doesn’t have a cool mustache 👨🏻, he is the world-renowned expert in spine function, injury prevention, and rehab. I was lucky to meet and spend almost an hour ☕️ with Stu McGill while he was in Pensacola working with the military and speaking at @ihmclectureseries. I researched Stu McGill in college and learned from his free resources (backfitpro.com) back before I had any $$$ for speciality certifications/cec/ceu’s and conferences/workshops. His research on the spine shaped my approach to training everyday people and athletes. He made me aware of the functional anatomy of the spine and how to understand the mechanisms and pathways to pain. Also, how to assess the unique pain triggers of the individual (neural, mechanical, and sometimes psychological) and then plan an exercise intervention for the individual that begins with removing any causes/triggers to build a stable foundation to move better. What I learned through this and my industry is that we can help individuals move better with less pain BUT we can also be the Cause or Trigger to their pain with bad training programs & not having a better understanding of training. That is why it is imperative as an industry to be dedicated to self improvement, self awareness, and continuous learning. That is why I love our mission statement @fitnessimpacttrainingfit . Im Rahmen einer Feierstunde hat Oberbürgermeister Daniel Schranz der Oberhausenerin Aynur Celikdöven für ihr herausragendes soziales und ehrenamtliches Engagement das Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande überreicht. Aynur Celikdöven arbeitet als Facharbeiterin in der Metallindustrie, ist verheiratet und hatte zwei Kinder. Ihre Tochter erkrankte Mitte der 1980er Jahre an Leukämie, konnte aber dank einer Knochenmarkstransplantation geheilt werden. Ihr Sohn erkrankte ebenfalls an Krebs und verstarb 1999 im Alter von sieben Jahren. Daraufhin gründete sie im Jahr 2001 in Oberhausen den Verein ,,Weg der Hoffnung e.V.“ für krebskranke Kinder und deren Angehörige, die beraten, aufgeklärt und vor allem gestärkt werden sollten. Die 54-Jährige unterstützt Familien, die oft aus der Türkei kommen, auch in Bezug auf Sprachschwierigkeiten und pflegt stets einen engen Kontakt zu den Betroffenen. 2003 gründete sie außerdem in einer Kleingartenanalage in Sterkrade den Treffpunkt ,,Engelsgarten“ für betroffene Familien und deren Kinder, die sich in der Krebsnachsorge befinden. Neben ihrer beratenden Tätigkeit organisiert Aynur Celikdöven jährliche Aktionsabende für Knochenmark- und Stammzellenspenden. Bereits im Jahr 2017 wurde sie für ihr ehrenamtliches Engagement mit der Ehrennadel der Stadt Oberhausen ausgezeichnet. „Für mich ist es eine große Freude, Sie hier begrüßen zu dürfen. Alice has really missed Athletics during lockdown. Thankfully the season only had to finish a bit early, although we still don’t know when next season will be able to start. Aths is her favourite sport & her coach is always so supportive. He gives up countless hours every week to manage the team, train them, coordinate & train for comps like relays. I honestly don’t know how he does it!! Our club presentation day had to be on Zoom this year and her coach organised to secretly deliver medals to all the winners houses so that their parents could surprise them during the Zoom presentation. It meant so much to Alice, I totally teared up as I got to present her with a medal 🥰 She really can’t wait to go back!! I believe that we can use our own experiences to help others. True story. I use to make fun of club tents. When I played lacrosse in high school club wasn’t as big as it is now. I was an under the radar kid out of Rocky Point who was lucky enough to have a coach who took his personal time to help us be seen by college coaches. My fondest memory of those recruitment tournaments was the fun. He dared me at Marist College to slide into the mud. Of course I did it. I never not accept a challenge. As I was training many players with my company @laxonli I was noticing a common theme. Kids who were under the radar. Players who were loosing their love for the game. That’s when I decided to form Lax On Elite. Some days are tougher than others when you’re building something. It’s also a reminder that it’s worth building it. 300 Games - Mark Cutter Thompson The club wishes to congratulate ‘Cutter’ on playing his 300th game for the first XI against Canterbury. Mark played his first junior game as a seven year old back in 1985/86 and ended up playing 98 games with 1339 runs and 98 wickets with the juniors, finishing in 1993/94 as under 16 captain and a regular in representative sides. Making his senior debut in 1990/91, Cutter played in his first senior flag with the third XI in 1993/94, winning the third XI bowling award. In the third XI final series, Cutter took 3-23 against AYC in the semi-final. Then in the grand final against Mulgrave, Cutter was player of the match with 5-31 and 3-50 in respective innings, and a match winning 39 not out with the bat. Spending 1994/95 with the first XI, Cutter played in the First XIs A grade premiership. Over the next two seasons, he spent time with the second XI and even played with the Club XI due to injury, belting 166 against a hapless Ashwood. But since 1997, Cutter has played almost exclusively with the First XI. By 2000/01 Cutter was the regular opening First XI bowler and over a five year period starting in 2000-01, he took 101 first XI wickets and won three bowling awards. 2006–07 was Cutter’s greatest season with the club as he played a leading role in getting the side to the A turf grand final. Cutter won his first Club Championship award with 253 runs and took 36 wickets from 230.3 overs. This included scores of 64, 31, 38 and 35 along with hauls of 4-35, 3-29, 4-72 followed by efforts of 5-48 in round ten and match figures of 11-76 against Ashburton in the last home and away game that enabled the first XI to win outright and steal a place in the A turf finals. In the grand final against Bulleen, Cutter made 35 and took 4-65, then 1-35 from thirty-nine overs. Cutter was then appointed first XI captain for the 2007-08 season and led from the front with another 22 wickets to win the first XI bowling award for the fifth time in seven years and was again Club Champion. William Lawson Park’s new playground opens in time for Daylight Savings 2020 👏 Blacktown City’s young – and young in spirit – can now enjoy an upgraded playground at William Lawson Park in Prospect. The $122,000 refurbishment was funded through Blacktown City Council’s Work Improvement Program for 2019/20. Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland MP, also secured $20,000 funding towards a picnic shelter from the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Programme. The new play space, located on Myrtle Street in Prospect, now features 2 multi-play units with a variety of climbing and sliding elements, a junior and senior swing, a multi-person rope swing, an inclusive double carousel spinner, and a rocker. The new picnic shelter, situated next to the playground, provides shade and picnic facilities to those using the equipment as well as the many sporting clubs and teams that use William Lawson Park. This scholarship fund will provide support and grants to the women behind the Green Berets looking to further their education and professional pursuits. We are honored to name this scholarship after Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon Kent, a brilliant and revered woman in her own right, and also a Green Beret wife. Senior Chief Petty Officer Kent was killed in action on January 16, 2019, in Manbij, Syria, while on a mission with teammates. She was a stellar operator, accomplished linguist, loving mother to Colt and Josh, and loving wife of Joe Kent. Shannon’s sons’ names pay tribute to the legacies of warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Colt was a boy’s name which Shannon and Joe had selected when first dating; Colt carries the middle name Blake after Navy SEAL Blake Martson, with whom Shannon had worked. I am so beyond blessed and excited to announce that my legal dreams are coming true. Next fall I will be working full time as a student ada in the districts attorney’s office in New York. The Manhattan da’s office is where I want to work post grad and getting this opportunity is truly amazing. I was so bummed when I did not get an internship with them this summer but it turned out for the best because there will probably not be jury trials this summer and the experience would not have been the same. Hoy, hace un año, celebramos la Cumbre Mundial de los Premios Nobel de la Paz en Yucatán y, como escribieron en una caricatura, todo el mundo quedó ‘poch’ Yucatán, es decir, todos se enamoraron de esta tierra (cosa nada difícil, por cierto). No puedo imaginar un evento que haya marcado de una forma tan profunda mi vida y la de muchas personas más, que haya puesto a Yucatán en un lugar tan digno y honorable en el panorama mundial, o que haya reunido a tantas voces constructoras de paz, como esta Cumbre. Más de 30 líderes que han transformado el curso la historia del mundo actual se reunieron en nuestro estado para dar cuenta de que tenemos muchos temas pendientes como humanidad, pero también para dar una señal esperanzadora de que sí podemos construir un mejor mundo. Desde el inicio de la Cumbre, que empezamos con un minuto de silencio por los afectados en el sismo de la CDMX, seguido del himno nacional en lengua Maya, así como por múltiples conferencias sobre la paz en el deporte, en el arte, en el periodismo, en las redes, en las comunidades indígenas, las diversas actividades que llevamos a cabo para celebrar la paz y la diversidad en distintos rincones, comunidades e incluso en la avenida más emblemática de esta capital, y hasta la emotiva clausura donde, en medio de conmovedores discursos ondearon varias banderas defendiendo diversas causas, no hubo un momento en que no sintiera la gratitud de ser parte de esa celebración de paz y del deseo de un mundo mejor. El haber podido contribuir a esta Cumbre con gente que además admiro y quiero tanto, fue un doble regalo de vida. Todavía hoy, cuando la violencia normalizada me toma por sorpresa en las noticias, en las redes sociales o en los lugares tanto cotidianos como inesperados, recuerdo los enormes regalos recibidos en esos días y pienso que, si bien todavía tenemos muchos pendientes con el mundo, también todavía está en nuestras manos el formar mejores sociedades, y eso es algo con lo que me siento comprometida todos los días de mi vida. First day of Medical School Orientation ✅ Meet Shasta! We were gifted this spider plant by one of our professors today. Although Shasta and I already had a little mishap when I dropped her and lost some of her soil (y’all know I’m a little clumsy sometimes), she’s now safe with her replanted roots and ready to grow in her temporary little home. I first planted the seed of medicine back when I was about 8 years old. And though I’ve grown in different directions and sometimes required a repotting mission of my own, I’m so blessed to be exactly where I’m meant to be: ready to start this new exciting chapter with classmates I adore, professors I aspire to be like and at a school that already feels like home. Adding another trophy to the cabinet 🏆 Do you too have memories that you never forget as a kid? One such memory of mine was the 2008 Wimbledon Final I had never played tennis in my life but yet was glued to the TV cause of the sheer class of these players. It took me 12 years after that day to actually step on a tennis court and have a go at this beautiful sport. I started on the 3rd of June 2020 and played every weekend for 2 hours. Started off with just trying to hit the ball like a tennis player and not like a cricketer ( I am an Indian after all) Trying my best to keep the tennis ball on the court and not hit it for a SIX. After a couple of weeks I was finally able to hit the ball and hold a decent rally. @elspethtoop made sure to try and teach me everything she knew about the sport. I regularly practiced every weekend with her with the objective of improving and learning a new sport 🎾 Finally after 8 weeks of hitting the ball around I decided to enrol my self into the “CORONA CUP” and believe it or not I ended up lifting the trophy. Firstly thank you for reaching to this para, but if you’re wondering why am I sharing this experience. Well the answer is simple. I picked up an alien sport which I had NEVER played before or had no knowledge of, at the age of 27. With the simple thought process of “how hard could It be”. I practiced religiously and made sure I had fun while playing and within a short period of time I was able to not only improve my skill set but also able to enjoy the sport more. Which got me thinking, why don’t we approach all the hurdles in life with the same attitude? Why do we quit or make excuses before we even try ? Why not just give it a short with all you got and see where it takes you! What’s the worst that could happen? Who knows it might actually be easier than it looks, and even if you fail at least you tried and gave your 100 percent. Even if you didn’t end up doing great, well you would have still learnt something out of this experience which shall help you tackle other hurdles in life. I literally cried my eyes out yesterday just thinking how far I’ve came and feeling so grateful for everything in my life today. 💛    I want to share this in hopes it will inspire someone out there to not give up.    Jan 2019, I quit my second full time job as a project manager at branding company downtown Chicago. I was living alone in Chicago. I didnt really have family support so I was struggling mentally. I spent the next 8 months working at my boyfriends mom’s flower shop which she had recently opened and driving for Lyft. Gemma became my support and an angel in my life. Loved me like her own.    July 2019, I decided to move to California with the love of my life. I was making food on the side to make extra money for moving.     A year later today- I am living in California with the love of my life, working in Talent management at Univision Creator Network with some of the biggest Latino creators in the US. I will be a published author next month, I’ve built a support system in California and met some incredible people and I am just getting started.    All this to say, where you are today does not define where you will be tomorrow.⠀    Enjoy the journey, the struggle, move forward with faith and conviction. But most importantly stay humble. Be proud of your journey and confident in where you are heading .     My mentor Gabriela once told me “Go to the edge of the clift and build your wings on the way down”. This is something that I’ve applied in my life always. Quero me dirigir a você . Nessa sua trajetória, que não será fácil , porque nunca é , você irá encontrar e se surpreender com muitas pessoas . Algumas delas , irão tentar te prejudicar , te humilhar , falar coisas que irão te jogar lá pra baixo e desencorajar você para que você não consiga alcançar seu objetivo . Você poderá escutar coisas do tipo você é um fraco ou você é ruim , você não vai conseguir ou quem sabe melhor você desistir , isso não é pra você . As suas noites de sono serão péssimas , irão rir de você e você deixará algumas lágrimas pelo caminho . Sim , você irá chorar . Mas nesse ponto eu te digo para guardar seu lenço . Limpe seu rosto e fique em silêncio. EM SILÊNCIO. Caminhe e tenha ao seu lado a sua fé,a sua família, seus verdadeiros amigos , os quais você conta nos dedos , e todos aqueles que de alguma forma te estenderam a mão e confiam e você. Essas pessoas existem sim e elas sempre irão acreditar no seu potencial . Continue caminhando , evoluindo 1% ao dia , subindo suas escadas sem pisar em ninguém, jamais faça para os outros o que fizeram de ruim com você, respeite as pessoas , cuide bem do próximo , seja humilde e jamais deixe de acreditar. Tenha fé . Persista todos os dias , pois um dia a mais é um dia a menos até você conseguir. E esse dia chega. E quando chegar, olhe para trás e verá o quanto você cresceu, evoluiu e quem estará em silêncio dessa vez serão aqueles que duvidaram . Today we celebrate the graduation of the Master programme Crisis and Security Management. Working with so many wonderful people led me to pursue a career at ISGA and, since graduating, I am now a tutor for the BSc Security Studies.
