Today is National French Toast Day! Growing up I used to love my mom’s mayai vara pao or anda bread, not realizing it was so similar to what others called French toast! There’s a sweet version and a savory version. Here’s the sweet recipe: – 3 slices of bread, cut each piece in half if you like – 1 large egg – 1-3 tbsp of white sugar (depending how sweet you like it – 1/2 cup of milk Whisk everything together. Then heat a pan with a little but of oil. Soak one piece of bread at a time in the batter. Put it in the hot pan. Cook on both sides until golden brown. Serve with a cup of chai and enjoy!
