Včera ráno jsme se probudili u městečka Mora, které jsme si později zašli pohlédnout. Poté jsme se vydali k severnímu pobřeží jezera Vänern, kde jsme poobědvali, dali kafčo a prostě si udělali pohodičku 🌅 Odpoledne jsme se začali sbírat a vydali se na cestu do vesničky s barevnými domečky Smögen. Tam už jsme bohužel nedojeli. Valimu zřejmě praskla vačková hřídel nebo její náhon a my tak nebyli schopni pokračovat dál v cestě. Začali jsme přemýšlet, jak situaci vyřešit - nejjednodušší byla koupě a výměna motoru nebo transport domů. Psali a volali jsme všude možně, ale vzhledem k časovým možnostem a nabídce transportu jsme se rozhodli nedokončit cestu po vlastní ose a Valiho poslat domů kamionem 🚛 Tak jsme si uvařili dobrou véču, dali si cuba libre a užíváme si poslední noc ve Valim tady ve Švédsku. Děkujeme Bohu, že nás nepotkalo nic horšího a mohli jsme tu strávit nádherný měsíc 🙏 Nemrzí nás nic z toho, co se stalo, ale to, že naše svatební cesta pomalu končí. Throw some passion on Gods purpose. —————— I left a grand opening of a new TRVFIT location today, and I passed through hometown on my way to check out another TRVFIT’s brand new location they’re about to move into. —————- I swung through the trailer park I grew up in for the first time in probably in 10+ years for a gratitude sesh. ——— Often conversations about me starting TRVFIT head to people making assumptions that family gifted me money to start or that it’s backed by an investor. I don’t often correct them, or entertain that conversation unless it heads in the direction that the person counting out their dream or passion they’d like to get started. Driving into Westlake Louisiana we came across a part of town almost completely destroyed. I felt prompted to pull over and take a few pictures. This sign was on one of the only pieces of standing fencing. I walked over to take a picture, as I did I found this sweet lady standing in the front yard. We began a conversation. Mary (81) had opted to ride out the storm along with 5 neighbors. I asked her what it was like, through tears she mumbled “It was horrific” she told me that all of her 5 neighbors who also rode out the storm ended up passing away. She was the only survivor. She described the roar and growl as tornados spun off of the storm. She described the banging and loud crashes as debris hit her home, taking pieces with it. She told me that several times she felt her home lift, but never fully went, she knew that God was with her. She endured hours of this storm in complete darkness as the power had gone out early into the storm. All Covid aside I held this sweet lady in my arms while she sobbed telling me that she is tough, and has never experienced anxiety, but since the storm has been to the hospital 3X due to panic attacks. “Any time I hear a rumble from a truck pass, I drop to my all fours”. Having battled anxiety myself, I was able to in some small way relate, and help provide a glimpse of hope. I cannot imagine at 81 enduring this type of storm. If you know my family in real life, youll know weve got the travel bug. As the colors start to turn this fall, Im reminiscing on our first getaway we took back in May when everything was that super green in spring. 💭 At that point, it had been 5 months since our last trip (our Christmas cruise last year), we were *only* 2 months into a global pandemic, & desperately wanted a change of scenery to relax for the weekend in the middle of nowhere. Funny how 2 months seemed like a long time... 😩 We often use @airbnb to book neat experiences & I found this amazing shipping container. I know these things are super trendy right now but I couldnt resist. This particular one was all by itself literally in the middle of nowhere about 2 hours south of CLE (oh yeah, theres a hot tub!😍) Part of our weekend included #hiking Dundee Falls, exploring Atwood Lake, & a dam nearby. The “Rainy season” in Florida usually means we can count on rain nearly every day and the occasional bear. Have you ever been slapped in the face with wet moss?! I have, just yesterday while taking a turn on my bici. Riding in the rain is more dangerous than riding in dry conditions for the obvious reason — slippery when wet. I lost my balance & could not keep my body upright. It is estimated at least 600,000 post-9/11 veterans are part of the population living with PTSD. “The challenges stemming from PTSD are not only experienced by the warrior,” said Lt. Col. (Ret.) Michael Richardson, WWP vice president of independence services and mental health. “When a wounded warrior is coping with PTSD, the ones who love them sometimes struggle the most.” Families of veterans managing PTSD experience secondary trauma symptoms — or indirect trauma — very similar to what warriors face: anxiety, depression, irritation, social isolation, and more. According to WWP’s mental health team, sometimes the symptoms warriors display in dealing with PTSD become so pronounced that they tax the family and create added dysfunction. For instance, injured veterans may lose interest in family activities, leaving family members feeling abandoned. In addition, the risk of physical and emotional violence is higher in families where one of its members has PTSD. So, family members may feel extra stressed trying to meet the veteran’s needs while not having their own needs met. This can cycle into the family’s sense of helplessness and depression. WWP believes that increased awareness can bring more attention to not only warriors coping with PTSD but also those families who are facing secondary trauma. With education, treatment becomes an option. WWP directs every hour, dollar, and action to helping warriors achieve their highest ambition. Some of its programs focus directly on treating PTSD and creating coping skills for wounded veterans of today’s generation. I am proud to support the mission of WWP through @wwpcarryforward. Ive been making calls on behalf of Democratic candidates in strategic swing districts with @sister_district for the last six weeks or so. Some days are hard, and I dont have any significant conversations. Today was not one of those days. Today I spoke with an 85 year old woman in Florida who has been a registered Republican since the Eisenhower administration. I asked her what issues she cared about, and she told me access to health care. I referred to the candidate @cindypolofl103’s dossier provided by Sister District, and told her about the candidates record on health care (co-sponsoring a bill to grant access to Medicaid for people under the poverty line). We talked for a while about how critical it is for everyone to have access to affordable health care, especially during the pandemic. By the end of the call she committed to voting for the Democrat I was calling for, and for Democrats up and down the ticket. This is powerful stuff you guys. Ive always considered myself politically engaged, but taking the next step and DOING SOMETHING to ensure democrats are elected is empowering and makes me feel hopeful during this very dark time.
