Thus Spoke Zarathustra For roughly a year now, Wes Cecil and I have been working on a new illustrated translation of Nietzsches book - Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Wes Cecil is a philosophy professor and lecturer at Peninsula College. You can find many of his lectures in his channel. Honored to be working with Wes, one of my favorite thinkers in such a daring and meaningful project, on such an important book. The project consists of 4 books that include: commentaries from Wes Cecil @humanearts and up to 90 illustrations one for each chapter. However these illustrations are not to be interpreted in a descriptive sense. Carew Rice was born in 1898 in Barnwell, South Carolina. Rice began cutting his silhouettes in the early 1930s towards the end of the Charleston Renaissance, a time of cultural preservation and artistic renewal and growth in the city of Charleston, South Carolina. His grandson, Clay Rice, continues the family practice and has become an internationally acclaimed, multi-award-winning silhouette artist and childrens book author. Manson and his fave reading material. I have been hard at work on my book, reliving the past. These images are from “The Long HArd Road Out of Hell” Sessions, shot in my old pigeon poop infested studio on 26th street. It was a real rock and roll night filled with hard drugs and nudity, a very long long night ending long after the sun came up. I don’t know why but I have gotten Handsome naked in so many of our sessions. Lucky ME. I loved my time with Mr Handsome, I look back and feel a twitch. These images seem to fit the times we live in. The world is filled with false prophets using their religion as a cudgel against the masses once again tring to steal democracy right out from under us.
