Tyre tube used for crossing river Every evening when Chapak Tadvi, a farmer living in Dhamasiya village of Chhota Udepur district, leaves for his home, he waits until he finds somebody to help him reach his home. Not that he is looking for a lift on a bike, but Tadvi wants someone from his village, who can pull an inflated tyre tube, on which he is supposed to be perched, to cross the Ashwin River. Countless Iranians as well as officials from the UK, Germany and the U.S have called on the Iranian government to rescind the death sentence against wrestling champion Navid Afkari. Yet he remains on death row despite evidence that he did not commit the alleged crime and that he was tortured during interrogation into giving a false “confession.” Meanwhile Navid’s two brothers, Vahid Afkari and Habib Afkari, were similarly convicted unjustly with Navid, and sentenced to 54 and 27 years in prison respectively. All three were also condemned to 74 lashes.⠀ ⠀ Navid filed a complaint with the Iranian judiciary on September 13, 2019, detailing how he was forced to give false confessions while being subjected to “the most severe physical and psychological torture” during nearly 50 days in police detention. In an audio file shared on August 30, 2020, Navid is heard saying that the Medical Examiner’s Office in Shiraz carried out an examination of his injuries that were caused under torture. “The evidence is there if the court wants to investigate [the acts of torture] … There is not one shred of evidence in this damned case that shows I’m guilty. But they don’t want to listen to us. Today would have been the final round of the 2020 Masters golf tournament which is currently being replayed on tv and sparked this post. I no longer cover it regularly, but I did for 10 straight years. Last year, Tigers win was his first major win in 11 years and sadly for me, a year I wasnt on it. My wife, @rebhow, always used to say that grown mens faces while walking around Augusta National resembled childrens faces at Disneyland. This tournament is special to me for so many reasons and not being allowed inside the rope makes it one of the more difficult ones to cover. 📚🔬 Taping for Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome ℹ️ℹ️ BACKGROUND: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is characterized by anterior knee pain and/or pain in the retro-patellar and/or peri-patellar region. ℹ️ Pain typically increases with activities such as: Squatting. Kneeling. Stair climbing. Prolonged sitting. ℹ️ The underlying causes of PFPS are multifactorial and may be associated with biomechanical and or neurophysiological changes at the pelvis, hip, knee or ankle regions. ℹ️ Taping is frequently used as part of the multi-modal management for PFPS, including: McConnell Patellofemoral Joint Taping (PFJT). Tibial Internal Rotation Limitation Taping (TIRLT). ℹ️ Clifford et al. (2020), investigated the effects of TIRLT, PFJT and no taping on perceived pain and lower limb kinematics during a lunge and single leg squat (SLS) in people with PFPS. 🔬🔬 METHODS: This cross-sectional study compared the effects of TIRLT, PFJT and no taping, on knee pain and lower limb kinematics during two pain-provoking movements in people with PFPS. 🔬 Participants with PFPS (n = 23) performed a lunge and SLS under three randomised conditions: TIRLT, PFJT and no taping. 🔬 The Codamotion system captured and analysed lower limb kinematic data in the sagittal, transverse and coronal planes. 🔬 Peak knee pain intensity during the movement was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). 📊📊 RESULTS: Participants reported significantly less pain with the TIRLT and PFJT techniques compared with no tape during the lunge and SLS. 📊 There was no evidence of altered lower limb kinematics accompanying pain reductions with either taping technique. ✅✅ CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Both forms of taping may be useful adjuncts as the short-term benefit of pain relief may enable participation in more active forms of rehabilitation. 🧠🧠 Thoughts? Dry gangrene is often due to peripheral artery disease, but can be due to acute limb ischemia. As a result, people with arteriosclerosis, high cholesterol, diabetes and smokers commonly have dry gangrene. The limited oxygen in the ischemic limb limits putrefaction and bacteria fail to survive. The affected part is dry, shrunken, and dark reddish-black. The line of separation usually brings about complete separation, with eventual falling off of the gangrenous tissue if it is not removed surgically, a process called autoamputation. Being a part of the #laderaranch community, we feel it’s important to keep our friends, neighbors and customers updated with latest information about our business. . As some of our customers learned yesterday on Friday July 3rd, unfortunately we had to temporarily close our Ladera Ranch store. Last week, one of our employees informed us that their immediate family member had tested positive for COVID-19, and that they went to get tested themselves, even without displaying any symptoms. . Upon receiving this information, we took swift action to temporarily excuse the employee for isolation, and shut down operations. We brought in professional sanitation services @prosanitizers to deep clean our store and contacted local clinic @afcladeraranch to see if we could get our entire staff tested. The team over at AFC Ladera Ranch were kind and gracious enough to quickly take in our entire staff last minute and administer rapid antibody tests (which all came back negative) and the main swab tests. . Although we have a very strict protective gear and cleaning protocol in place for the store, our Ladera Ranch location will be temporarily closed until further notice unless we are certain we can return with a fully cleared staff and continue to provide the safest dining and working experience for everyone. Kerala to Launch Menstrual Health Management Campaign Following the high incidence of reproductive tract infections and consequent infertility among women, the state is set to launch a campaign that targets adolescent girls between the ages of 10 and 18. The campaign aims to reach 15,000 girls as a continuation of the She-Pad project. The focus of the campaign will be to generate awareness on Menstrual Health Management at an early stage amongst women. It will also demonstrate the safe and responsible use of menstrual hygiene materials. Check out this collaboration post with my bro @pheasyque covering #allthingskettlebell this time covering one of our favourite movements the Turkish Get Up. — The TGU is an incredible total body exercise that will not only greatly increase your strength but will also work to improve your rotator cuff stabilisation as well as overall body stability, mobility, awareness and coordination — Although the movement is a primitive rolling pattern, it is very complex so follow the Phases to get your Get Up game down! — 1.) ▪️Start with the KB next to the shoulder ▪️Roll to your side into the fetal position and cradle the KB with both hands. ⚠️KB resting across the palm at a 45° angle. ▪️Roll onto your back and place the KB on your chest. — 2.) ▪️Press the KB overhead ▪️Lock out the elbow, stack the shoulder and activate your lats to maintain your upper torso strength. ▪️Bend the knee on the side of the body thats holding the KB at a 45° ▪️Place the opposite arm on the floor approximately 45° from the body. — 3.) ▪️Drive from the foot on the working side, roll up onto your elbow. ▪️Once youre stable roll up onto your hand. ⚠️ Keep eyes on the KB at all times. — 4.) ▪️Lift off the ground into a bridge, making sure high enough to be able to move your straight leg under your body. ⚠️ Keep that arm locked out! — 5.) ▪️Take your straight leg and pull or sweep it under your body, placing it next to and behind the hand on the floor. ▪️Youll end up in a position that makes your legs appear to be 90° from each other. — SiX.) ▪️Take your support hand off the floor and move your body upright, keeping the KB overhead. ⚠️At this point, take your eyes of the KB and look straight ahead! ▪️Windshield wiper the leg thats on the ground so that both legs are now parallel to each other, in a lunge position. ◾️ Drive from your back foot, through your hips, and into your front foot, standing up from the lunge. NEURO COMPROMISE 4. COMPARTMENT SYNDROME: can lead to vascular compromise, neuro injury or necrotic tissue. Risk of cellular destruction and hyperkalemia. 5. HIP DISLOCATIONS (not if prostetic) 6. SERRATUS PLANK PROGRESSIONS FOR BULLETPROOF SHOULDERS Serratus anterior is an important muscle that controls how well our shoulder blade moves as we raise our arm overhead. Without this muscle functioning properly, pain with overhead pressing is a given. This simple bodyweight serratus anterior plank progression can be incorporated into a warmup or as a training exercise to get this muscle going. Its quite literally impossible to not have this muscle engaged when doing this exercise. I love the pike position progression because it really challenges your core and gets you into an overhead position (if you were in pain) relatively pain-free. KEY POINTS: Be sure to let your shoulder blades passively tuck together and not move any other part of the body. MAINTAIN tension! HOW MANY? High repetitions, with lots of holds at the top. Even though you feel tight by locking the scapula in place you actually lose a significant amount of shoulder stability (remember joints are designed to move). - During a bench press the scapula should start in depression, it should then move into retraction, and finally into slight protraction. Moving through each of these positions is incredibly important for surrounding musculature to do their job without overly relying on accessory stability musculature. - One of the best ways to learn how to depress your scapulas in the bench press is to raise hand to shoulder height with a straight arm, try to lower your shoulder without changing the position of the hand. - There are many ways to improve scapular function for the bench press. The easiest and most effective way is to improve your horizontal rowing technique.
