Mapa de Lopo Homem, 1992 . tinta a óleo sobre madeira e linha de sutura. 110 x 140 cm. . Nesse quadro tomo como partida um mapa de 1519 do cartógrafo português Lopo Homem. Nele tenta-se uma conciliação dos novos dados geográficos decorrentes dos “descobrimentos” com alguns aspectos que se tenta preservar das antigas concepções ptolomaicas. Apresentam-se as regiões da Ásia , que os portugueses estavam ainda reconhecendo, ligadas às novas terras no “Mundus Novus Brasil” por uma fantástica terra austral na parte de baixo. Abri com faca o quadro deixando uma ferida aberta ao centro, criando uma linha mais real do que as rabiscadas nos mapas, feita de entranhas e sangue e tudo aquilo que o documento oficial jamais mostra: interioridade. A sutura parece não dar conta da tarefa de camuflar toda a violência. . #filmtipfriday Our signature Exposure Reference Sheets are the feedback you’ve been waiting for, right in your inbox! They clearly show your exposures for each and every frame! But did you know you can also use them to identify camera issues? ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Lets swipe right and go over some of the most common camera issues we see and how to identify them with your #ExposureReferenceSheet: ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🎞️ Light Leaks: Notice the white markings across the top and bottom of the film? These are due to a light leak. If you have light leaks, your camera needs to be serviced. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🎞️ Open Camera Back: The section of white seen here is overexposure caused by the back of your camera being opened mid-roll. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🎞️ Sticky Shutter: Take a close look down the right side of each frame, notice how dark it is? This is caused by a shutter sticking when it opens/closes. If it continues, your camera needs to be serviced. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🎞️ Base Fog: When identifying base fog, you want to pay attention to the density of the spacing in between each frame. When a roll is affected by base fog, this spacing becomes a light gray as opposed to a dark black. You also want to note the contrast level within each frame—when a roll is base fogged, every frame will appear very flat with little contrast.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🎞️ Film Wound Too Far When Loaded: All that unexposed space before the first frame is a sure sign this roll of film was wound too far upon loading (e.g. for medium format, it was wound past the word start). When your film is wound too far, your final frame will land at the physical end of the roll which is a designated space for film processing + scanning. This space is used for clipping your film and for roll numbering. When a frame lands here, it can become distorted due to these processing needs.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ 🎞️ Advancing Issues: When evaluating the spacing in between each frame, you want them to be consistent. Notice how this roll has uneven spacing from frame to frame? This is a red flag that your camera has advancement issues. If the spacing is just slightly off, that is A-OK. I am excited to announce my solo exhibition at @flintinstituteofarts called “Black Matters” starting today July 6th - October 11, 2020. When I created this work in 2009, I didn’t think that it would be even more relevant now as it is or act as a continuing series in some ways. . I am honored to have had my 13 pieces collected by them and to be one of the first exhibitions shown during their reopening. Given the recent trauma and events that sparked a resurgence in justice and police reform , I felt compelled to add 3 new pieces from victims of police brutality. IBM  today, for the first time, published its road map for the future of its quantum computing hardware. There is a lot to digest here, but the most important news in the short term is that the company believes it is on its way to building a quantum processor with more than 1,000 qubits — and somewhere between 10 and 50 logical qubits — by the end of 2023. Currently, the company’s quantum processors top out at 65 qubits. It plans to launch a 127-qubit processor next year and a 433-qubit machine in 2022. To get to this point, IBM is also building a completely new dilution refrigerator to house these larger chips, as well as the technology to connect multiple of these units to build a system akin to today’s multi-core architectures in classical chips. John & Yoko were producing, with John on vocals and guitar/piano, Ringo Starr on drums, Klaus Voormann on bass and Yoko on wind. Engineering were Phil McDonald and John Leckie, recording 61 takes of Mother and 2 takes of Isolation. They all finished around midnight. O ponto principal da sustentabilidade é fazer uso de recursos naturais com baixo impacto para que as gerações futuras possam ter acesso à eles. Logo, o que estamos fazendo para garantir a manutenção desse legado? Cada vez mais vemos áreas degradadas, cheias de lixo, entregues aos grandes fazendeiros ou pecuaristas e também temos que lidar com as queimadas. Em épocas de tempo seco é normal pegar fogo na mata, o que não deve ser normal é deixar por isso mesmo. Por exemplo, é comum uma pessoa ter câncer, incomum é não querer buscar tratamento para não deixar a doença se alastrar. Entende que é isso que o Ministro do Meio Ambiente ta fazendo com nosso Pantanal que já tem mais de 15% de área destruída? Enquanto isso seguimos com diminuição no nº de multas, fiscalização e pouquíssimas medidas de combate empreendidas pelo governo. Com nossas matas destruídas, não é só questão de não ter mais espaços de visitação ou as próximas gerações que não vão conhecer, mas temos que pensar também nos animais e plantas mortos, alguns que já tinham uma população bem pequena. Pom Pom, Lady of The Sycamore 2020 The painting came after I saw a small painting on a wooden panel, once part of a shabti box and now in the collection of the Egyptian Museum in Berlin. The scene depicts the mythical lady of the sycamore, the goddess of the tree that provided eternal life and knowledge of the divine plan in the afterlife. In the first painting, she is offering water and fruit from the tree to the kneeling mortal and her Ba, the animated manifestation of the deceased that appeared just before resurrection.
