Turtles aren’t trash, but this trashy art was inspired by a piece of hard plastic trash plucked from the ocean. Inspired by our concern for turtles’ habitat and our interest in protecting them from human detritus. If you’re out in the water where sea grass grows, you will notice the similarity between aging sea grass and the strips of plastic that are woven to make sandbags, rice bags, dog food bags, etc., and that degrade and end up in waterways and our oceans. Somebody should have forseen this hazard and decided this “invention“ of woven plastic bags was not a good idea.
