Man was not made for religion, religion is made for man. It must not hurt relationships neither must it replace reasoning. The first men were godly without a religion. In the end, God might be forced to utter not in my name. Humanity must trump religion now, and always. No death should happen for faith reasons. Man must live in freedom always; without the fear of death. Humanity must breath. The future awaits our victory. The future, therefore, must not belong to those who would kill a fellow human merely for the utterances he has made. Whoever murdered another man, only him should be killed by the hands of the law and not the mob. Only the law is authorised to kill the murderer, not the mob. Only the rule of law-unshackled by religious dogma and untainted by inordinate legal manipulations. Never the prejudice of the powerful, or the blind sentiments of the fanatic. Humanity must be free to choose, like God has implanted in us the ability of choice. Take away that fundamental freedom, and watch as you strip away the very essence of what makes us humans. Team — this hits close to home with me. A1C Elizabeth Jacobson wasn’t just the first Security Forces Airman to die during Operation Iraqi Freedom, she was also the first woman in the Air Force to be killed in that conflict, and she was 21 years old. Liz was a well known and loved member of Team Goodfellow. A photo of her was beautifully framed by my wingman, Chief Thomas Good, and hung proudly in the Command Chief Office in the 17th Training Wing, where it still hangs today. I also framed her photo in my office at the pentagon...as a daily reminder of “why” I serve and to “whom” I serve.
