I have been so caught up with other projects, work, and life in general that I almost let the month go by without posting about my 𝟙𝟘-𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕕𝕖𝕤𝕚𝕘𝕟𝕚𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕒𝕣𝕪! 🎉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In June 2010, I began my design journey and released my first self-published shawl pattern, Kaliope, which is pictured here. I remember the experience like it was yesterday—the excitement of writing and knitting my very own pattern from scratch; being so nervous to hit publish, giddy once it was done, and then so motivated by the love and encouragement I received from the little knitting community I was a part of to continue releasing patterns. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because I’ve worked full time ever since I started designing, every pattern has been a passion project. A very select few of my ideas have actually come to fruition so far. It is my continued goal that my portfolio speaks to my love of knitting and designing wearable pieces that you can feel incredibly proud of! ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have several new pattern ideas I can’t wait to bring to life in the coming months. In between, I am also working on revamping some of my earlier patterns, either to bring the pattern files in line with my more recent pattern styling or to expand the range of sizes for sweaters. And I plan to make them available for purchase through more platforms. New Pattern: The Cruise Blanket ✨🌊 Crocheted in a simple stitch with two coordinating colorways of our hand dyed classic bulky from @sewrellayarn 💙 This project was super quick to work up and gives a statement making color pool effect without any fancy techniques 🙌🏻 We just work the right side of the blanket in one color and the wrong side in its coordinating pair! One of our most used recipe methods at #SewrellaYarn is a pour dyed method - the Cruise colorway used here is pour dyed and the crocheted result looks like this! Any of our pour dyed colorways would make a similar effect, especially when worked up in this pattern with a coordinating tonal (I used Lido Deck here). The free pattern comes in 12 sizes from baby lovey to king size - and I even have recommendations for value yarns to substitute if you’re not looking to splurge! The last couple of days did not go how I expected AT ALL. And that’s the thing about life, we never know what the next day will bring, it’s equally exciting and uncertain. Today started off with a visit to the doctor for my husband. When workout bands go wrong it’s not good lol. We had to go to two different urgent care places after dropping off my kids at my sister’s house. Shout out to her all the way for being cool with me waking her up early and leaving my kids in her care. My boys love her even more now because they skipped part of school and got a candy bar. So hours and stitches later we were all back at home. So glad there was no major knee damage and everything should heal just fine. Phew. While I was busy catching up the kids with the school day, my husband offered to help me with some work. He felt bad I had to take the day off. I almost didn’t ask for help....but weaving in ends isn’t fun...and he offered soooo.....swipe to see my amazing husband helping me out! And then we finalized our decision for our children’s school plans at the 9 week mark. So many emotions floating around! Let’s just say I’m ready for bed to get some rest to tackle a new day tomorrow.
