I donโt normally do this, but... these ainโt normal times. Trump has banned diversity training in the federal government claiming it is divisive and un-American. To who? The only people who see diversity as divisive are the ones who want to maintain systems of white supremacy. Next will be 8A certifications and contracts that make it possible for Black and minority owned contractors to compete for federal contracts. Then those who feel emboldened by these actions in the private sector will eventually follow and do the same. The reason we are in 2020 and still have headlines congratulating Black people for becoming the 1st Black person to do xy and z isnโt because they werenโt qualified, prepared or better, it is because of these systems that are set up to block us out and bury us. It is baffling to me that with so much overt racism (and just about every other ism) some folks still fix their faces and their fingers to say they donโt plan on voting in November. I agree, voting wonโt change everything, but not voting will. The H1-B visa policy plays a very crucial part in every indians life who aspires to work at the silicon valley. According to official data, indians had bagged 2.78 Lakh or nearly 72% of the total H1-B visas allotted till 30th September 2019. The largest sponsoring employers include leading MNCs like Apple and also Indian headquartered tech companies like Infosys. The Department of Labour has developed a draft regulation for the restructuring of wage levels and requirements in the H1-B visa program. The regulation will be issued as an interim final rule, with immediate or near-immediate impact. This means that the employers and other members of the public world would not have an opportunity to provide public feedback before the rule takes effect. The proposed rules will create challenges in hiring of H1-B workers and could impact Indian aspirants adversely.
