A big moment in my journey happened today & I didn’t even realize it when it was happening... When I started this journey my one goal was to be able to fit in those small cute boutiques you know the ones that only carry small, medium, and large AND they’re large is like a size 8 yeah.... those boutiques. I thought if I could find in those clothes then that would of meant I made it I was officially “Normal” I officially can go into any store and fit anything. I worked so so so long to fit the clothes. To try to change my body to fit what society told me I should be. I tried to shove my body into jeans that didn’t fit all so I could say I fit in a size 12 when no one asked me. I lived my life uncomfortable and constantly shoving my love handles into jeans and readjusting when I sat down. I’m going to tell you something that completely changed my life.... it’s not our job to fit the clothes, rather it’s the clothes job to fit us. It’s not our fault that so many stores are not inclusive of all sized bodies. & it’s not our job to kill ourselves to fit in their clothes... it’s their job to make clothes that fit all bodies or loose business. Today someone asked if I got my shirt at @vspink & I told them no... I can’t fit in their clothes. & her response was “You’re one your way girl” & where it was so sweet it couldn’t be anymore wrong. I’m no longer working my ass off to fit into stores that only want to cater to one body type. I don’t want to shop at a store that will only have me when I fit their idea of beautiful or I make myself skinny enough to be worthy. I want to shop at stores that support my body at all seasons of life & are truly inclusive to all bodies because they are truly beautiful at EVERY SIZE. There are good days, and then there are grape days 🍇 🍇 For the first time, I stomped grapes at @bluemontvineyard, And I must say ..it was quite the experience. While I had a good time, my somewhat controlling, type-A, while clumsy side came out. Ha! My feet were slipping and sliding all around the bucket, while grapes splashed all over my clothes. I think the key to enjoying this type of experience is drinking lots of wine first...because I was much too focused on staining my clothes and falling on my face. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 What I enjoyed most was the rent-a-row experience that was included in the grape stomping package. This is a casual, socially distant, but very romantic experience! My date and I enjoyed the rolling vista views of Loudoun Valley, the fresh mountain air, and the stars in our private row of vines. ❤❤❤ Anyway, Im happy to have crossed this off my bucket list of vineyard experiences. My name is Schantel of Maxine Baked and I started my business last summer to honor my late grandmother and to share my love of all things sweet. When I was ten years old, I bought a clearance-rack, phonebook-sized book of publishing houses and their P.O. boxes, I highlighted my favorite ones, and I sent them all a copy of my first completed book – a short, hand-illustrated novel about a flying go-cart (💁🏼♀️). I didn’t hear back from any of them. But that little dream has been simmering in me ever since, so you can imagine how I felt when I opened my mailbox to receive a paperback copy of this lil guy in the mail. 🤯😭💛💫💫 My producers and I decided to take a step back from Alaska financing for just the month of August, since so many of our contacts are on vacation right now. The break has given me time to finally put the finishing touches on this secret little project and release it into the world! I can honestly say FUNDED! was 100% inspired by you guys and your outpouring of questions for me. After looking through my photos, I noticed a slight pattern I tend to lean into. Yep I sure did ...🤗 You know that pattern that you mostly gravitate to in your stories, your feed and a few more things in between. I was reluctant to share what mine is for the slight purpose that I was going to have to defend who I am and some of the things I enjoy. I’m gonna be honest - my anxiety has been kicking my ass. Between hearing voices and racing thoughts, I’m lost and confused. And to top it off I’m now suffering from additional physical effects like continuous shaking and grinding my teeth. I go to therapy; I see my therapist and psychiatrist but it all seems useless because they can’t make it go away. I, too, can’t wish it away no matter how much I try. So I deal. I try to smile and pretend I’m not drowning inside but it’s all a lie. The truth is I’m just trying to get by. This has been an unprecedented year and along with adjusting to masks and sanitizer, I have my own struggles. It’s a lot. So here’s a daily reminder that #mentalhealthmatters. Pinch me because I think I am dreaming. This picture was taken June 2019 attending the AMAZING Womens E3 Summit presented by the National Museum of African American History and Culture and now I am pleased to share that the I have gone from an attendee to producers with the stellar Bond events team. What I am saying? Its a powerful collab of women for women but it is much more than that. In my belief system it is a testament to the power of remaining patient especially in the wake of COVID when work is uncertain when no money is coming in (who can relate?) and trusting that Gods plan is waaaay bigger than whatever you could imagine. Why is money so uncomfortable? Seriously, why is it so uncomfortable? Talking about money is uncomfortable. Asking for a raise is uncomfortable. Having money is uncomfortable. Not having money is uncomfortable. Spending money is uncomfortable. Seriously, whyyyy? It is because we have been taught that it should be kept a secret. And like some things we have been taught, we just never questioned it- enough. How is this discomfort serving us? If we were choosing to be uncomfortable, Maybe then, we would know what our work value is and ask for it. Maybe then, women won’t make so much less than men. Maybe then, we wouldn’t carry so much shame / fear when asking for what is truly ours. Maybe it would improve communication in our relationships. Honestly, when I started letting go of the taboo around talking about money, that’s when magic started. I could talk to my spouse about it. Our relationship got deeper. I started saving more money, making more money, having more, giving more, enjoying my spending. So my question for you is this? What part of money/finances do you find uncomfortable? This completely hand painted (not stenciled) staircase is still my favorite project to date and I just thought I’d share a flashback to two and a half years (I think 🤷🏻♀️) ago. 18 books /steps in all. It legit still amazes and humbles me that someone trusted me enough to do something so prominent when I was just getting my feet wet as a painter. ✨Welcome to International Coaching Week! Today I am going to share a bit of my story and why I became a coach. I will start by sharing I love coaching because it’s an opportunity to partner with someone to create and to uncover new possibilities. As a coach, I don’t profess to be an expert at your life. You are the expert! I partner with you to: -explore your goals -acknowledge -validate -challenge you to create amazingness! ✨As a child, I grew up being called “Paula Positive,” a person with an empathetic ear, a genuine heart, and a positive outlook. I am a natural encourager! Later in life, as a professional, wife, and mom my expectations shifted to living life perfectly. I made plans based on ideals and visions that were not realistic. I was reacting instead of embracing life to the point of becoming sick. In 2018, I made a declaration to shift my focus to embrace my life, in being open to vulnerability. I recalled finding joy in encouraging and empowering others, so I enrolled in a coaching program. The program challenged my fears, expectations, assumptions, and limiting beliefs. Today, I consider myself a recovering perfectionist. It’s safe to say that I’m learning to celebrate wins (big and small). I learned that: - Its ok to not know the outcome of every situation - It’s ok to change plans -It’s ok to show vulnerability and to not have all the answers It’s all a part of the process called life! It’s the natural hair and clavicle for me. #FunFact: I’ve worn protective styles for most of my life (relaxers + weaves, braids, crochet, etc.). I went natural I think 6 years ago, but never wore my natural hair out because I have really thick hair that’s hard to manage and I’m lazy, plus the look took some getting used to. I wasn’t ready to see myself sans enhancements. I started wearing my fro occasionally in 2017. Fast forward to 2020, I’ll get cute, wear my fro and go, though wigs and protective styles are still my go-to’s (becauseI can’t do a twist out to save my life). Wearing your natural hair is a revolutionary act, and I love that I finally have the confidence to do so. Also, IG filters are so clutch, you don’t even have to apply an actual lash. I woke up this morning to a flood of new followers and I just wanted to say a quick hi and intro before my crazy tribe wakes up. I love to garden and dream of living off my land. I love photography and my children are my muse. I believe in Jesus, but don’t give him nearly as much credit as I should and I’m working on that daily. You would probably find me not only chasing after my kids, but my 6 chickens as well. Or hear my loud laugh from down the street. And at night, after everyone is tucked in, we say happy birthday to each other (my little Gideon started this tradition). Many of you are trying to diversify your feeds, which is a beautiful thing. It also makes me believe that you understand injustice is a community problem, not just a black problem. 1 Corinthians 12:26, “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. My hope is that we listen, learn, and grow with each other, but also act and find ways to support and make changes. I’ll be using my platform for the next few days to talk about topics geared toward our children when it comes to race and injustice. I believe true change, not only starts, in our hearts, but in our home. Being silent about race or saying “I don’t see color” enforces racism as children will then draw their own conclusions from what they see or hear. had an amazing date night here pre covid - absolutely enjoyed the cosy and buzzy ambience with good wine and food. there’s nothing quite like the the classic french bistro experience, dining over candlelight to live music in an intimate yet bustling setting traditional french bistro food is served here at affordable prices (£15-20 for mains) - i found the mains to be good but not exceptional. like most good french bistro food i’ve had, the dishes had great flavours but the meat could be more tender. they went very well with the house wine though, and i enjoyed the meal overall. would recommend this place for a classic french bistro experience for the post covid times! not sure what covid measures they’ve taken, but can’t imagine this place being enjoyable with proper social distancing or vice versa - @londontumtum on Instagram

How is it August already🤔 We’ve been so blessed with great weather here in beautiful Alberta and I’ve been taking full advantage of nature therapy! . . I hope all my Black ppls are taking some time for yourselves and practicing some self care since we carry more than we should. Specially during this time when it feels like everyone wants to engage us on everything race related. . . Some of my self care has included: 1. Limiting my social media intake. I didn’t realize how much the increased consumption over the past few months was having on my mental health. 2. Reading 3. Biking more. One of my 2020 goals was to complete my first sprint triathlon. 4. Spending quality time with my mom. 5. Getting back into a consistent running schedule. Identify the tasks that drain your energy. I knew I was gay at a young age but I also survived sexual trauma at a young age. It is impossible to separate the two facts. My trauma response was self-loathing. I didn’t date women in my 20’s because I hated myself so much & I love women. I didn’t think the dynamic, incredible women I was attracted to would want to be with someone like me, who I believed to be so worthless, having nothing to offer them. So I dated men because a heteronormative world made that easier than facing my feelings about myself. I was intoxicated most of the time & disassociated mentally during intimate moments with them. My journey with sobriety, self-love & letting go of my plans for suicide has allowed me the space to start to shift this narrative. Coming out as a lesbian a few months ago was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. In my mind it was me saying “I may not be good enough to want what I want but I can’t let that stop me anymore.” It’s a daily battle to quiet the voices in my head that say I’m 🗑 but I’m trying. Traded in my twenty-something label for the big 3-0 yesterday. I think it’s time for 2020 to wine down...I mean this year, has been a lot. 🤷🏽♀️ I don’t know about you, but this week I’ve been struggling to find any creative motivation. So I’m trying to practice what I preach and have been prioritizing some self care time and working on my mental health. Here are a few of my self care tips: 💫 Have a glass of wine from a new bottle. I changed my water up this week by putting it in a big glass with lots of ice, 2 lemon slices, and a squeezing some lemon juice in it. I set a goal to drink 40oz of water. I finally started painting the boys room this weekend, and as you can see, I take my painting jobs very seriously 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Ok, in all seriousness, I enjoyed this painting activity a lot more because the kids got involved, and it was the first time I used a color other than white. Happy Monday! This week is back to business as usual. Recently invested in some planners to help keep life organized and last week I slipped up and did not plan. HUGE MISTAKE. Pretty much winged it every single day last week and was a hot mess express trying to balance it all, which left me really anxious and overwhelmed. I found myself just doing way too much and feeling extremely burnt out by the end of the week. Getting back into a routine is helping me remain stress free (for the most part because, kids 🥴). It really just helps me stay focused on what my goals are so Im not piling more on my plate than I can realistically handle. Feels good going into the week knowing exactly what I want to accomplish for the week and exactly whats on my to-do list so I can check things off. Heres to a new week, new goals, and a fresh start! I had an excellent lunch break yesterday courtesy of Goodman’ City location. I ordered their famous lunchtime Steak Frites which consists of a 250g NY Sirloin served with hand cut chips and peppercorn sauce with a glass of red wine. I found both my meal and the dinning experience very please try. My steak well seasoned and served was medium rare at my request. The chips were fresh, crispy and golden brow. The red wine complemented my steak perfectly. According to their website they age six tonnes of their beef at their restaurant location. Their Steak cut every day and on request. Their meat suppliers are located in the UK, USA, Spain and beyond. Their wine sourced from 20+ suppliers.
