Huge Kraken gap filler with a lost message in a bottle! The bottle looks a little bit wonky in the pictures because it goes right over that weird bump on the inside of the elbow… This is the very first piece back from my maternity leave. It was something different for me, I think we tattooed for a total of 12 hours. What a way to kick it off! ::: THE PROPOSAL GAMES::: A couple of days ago it was 4 years since we both said yes to joining our lives together and embarking on the adventure that is married life. In our case we both literally said yes as we proposed to each other! It wasnt coordinated, I figured out what was going on when Targ flew to Prague in secret to ask my mom for her blessing and at that moment I realised how important it was for me to propose to him too. I really wanted to start this next chapter off on totally equal footing. I tell you though, going around jewellers requesting that they make a ring for the boyfriend who will definitely be proposing soon raises a few eyebrows and prompts more than a few pitying looks! And dont even get me started on the logistics of ensuring that I had Targs ring with me at every potentially romantic moment in case a proposal was about to go down. Thankfully it all worked out and we both whipped out our respective rings at sunrise on a deserted island in the BVIs those 4 years ago. That was our second sailing holiday and we cannot wait to take Lady G back to that gorgeous place in the next couple of years. These were definitely encouraging thoughts as we battled for 9 hours straight to cover our Ladys 57 foot long belly with silicone. SOME HAVE SAID.... that deep within the blackest seas exists a beast named the Kraken. Legend has it, a ship carrying spiced rum from the Caribbean fell prey to the Kraken. The beast thrust upon the ship its massive limbs, plunging the vessel and the men on board into impenetrable darkness. Everything on board was destroyed except a single barrel of rum, stained black by the Kraken’s ink. Here’s the latest mural project I’ve been working on @keyscable on Grassy Key in Marathon, Florida Keys. (I painted the sawfish on this wall 2 years ago!) . While designing this wall I got really into learning about “wreckers” in The Florida Keys. Wrecking was big business by the late 1800’s in the Keys and required sailing out each morning to see if a ship had run aground overnight. While wreckers were required to save the surviving crew they were primarily after the cargo. Sometimes, the wrecked ship itself would be able to be salvaged. Salvaged cargo would be taken down to Key West and other nearby keys to be auctioned and sold off. . . Around the corner is the homie @amandalvaldes painting a beautiful keys mermaid - working alongside her has made this project really fun, especially in the island heat! .
