STRONG AND FEMININE IS BEAUTY‼️WE MUST BREAK STEREOTYPES❌ - It is a shame that dietitians are spreading false information to women. Stating that lifting heavy should not be the goal or losing weight can be done using only one strategy. You cannot give everybody the same diet and training strategy. Every individual, whether female or male, must be given a specific diet based on how their bodies react and respond. Women are falling in love with being strong and feminine, which i think is pretty amazing how things are changing! But it is a shame how we compare a man to a woman.. a woman is capable differently than a man. It doesn’t mean she can’t lift heavy or she isn’t strong and determined. It doesn’t mean she cannot grow and get bigger. Also please, i’ve been into both sports, powerlifting and bodybuilding. They are two completely different sports.. not to be compared. Within the years, women are much more confident with their bodies and much more capable. Don’t underestimate them. You can be strong and feminine in your own way. - 🔹lifting heavy does not make you a man. 🔷stop comparing men to women. 🔹women can lift heavy. Women can grow muscles with the right diet and the right training program. 🔹 Carbs are your best friend! (Don’t forget to calculate your macros) 🔹 you don’t always have to eat clean. It is okay if you mess up sometimes. 🔹 you don’t need to train 6 hours a day to see results! You need to train wisely and hard! At the end, diet is key. 🔹 you DO need rest days! You need to recover, that’s when you’ll see progress! 🔹choose wisely who deals with your training and diet plan! 🔹lifting weights won’t make you big and bulky! One of my favorite sayings that I have had to also come to terms with is @jockowillink Discipline equals freedom. I was always like, yes...buuuuuut...😆 in reality what Ive had to realize is that I was always judged as lazy because I didnt meet others expectations of what they considered disciplined, so I went about just saying fuck it, I dont care. Then the more I went after what I wanted, created more stability, routine and joy in my life, I looked around and finally saw how disciplined I really am. Squatting your squats is cool, but you have to look at more than just torso angle. This has become the most popular thing I’ve seen in circles of people that don’t actually want to work hard. The torso pitches forward 1°, and we immediately move back to the bar because “I didn’t squat my squat!!! I hinged it!”. This is bullshit. There’s a lot of other factors to consider outside this ONE particular piece of the puzzle. Shin angle matters. Bar placement matters. Task matters. If you are a low bar squatter, you will pitch forward. Period. This is just because the bar pushes the ribcage forward in space, so the hips move backwards as a counterbalance to keep the bar over the center of mass. High bar, it’s much easier to keep these stacked, but you’ll probably lift less overall load. If your goal is max load, this is not a good choice. Low bar will recruit significantly more musculature of the posterior chain, let you leverage extension, and push heavier weight. Shin angle also matters. If you sit back and maintain a near vertical shin, you are hinging. If you’re pitched forward in a low bar, but the knees drive forward? Guess what? You’re still squatting. You’re still getting quads, and you won’t die. This is all multifactorial. It’s not a yes or no. You have to look at individual morphology and how the body operates as a whole. THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING FOR A SPORT When I first started training, I trained because I wanted my legs to look a certain way in a tight dress. I trained because I wanted my shoulders to look ‘sculpted’ in a summer top or my stomach to look defined in a bikini. During this time I fell on and off the band wagon countless of times, yet the guilt of not sticking to plan was continuous. Why am I telling you this? Because I thought that was the best way to train, the way that would keep me the most motivated. About a year ago, I attended a Calisthenics workshop which opened my eyes to the sport. Since then I have been well and truly hooked. My training has transformed in the past year and my whole program revolves around Calisthenics. I no longer training for physique, I train for performance. I don’t train because of guilt, I train because I want to be better and stronger at what I do. BIGGEST FACTORS IN FINGER STRENGTH! 💪🔥💪 Most climbers are pretty obsessed about finger strength. We also know it has a big impact on climbing, whether bouldering, sport climbing or trad climbing. In addition, we all very aware that it’s not always easy to make progress consistently over the years! Many of the clients we work with find that a couple of years of finger strength gains come quickly as they either boulder more or they take their steps in training it systematically. As we’ve assessed and worked with so many climbers of all walks of life over the years, we’ve really come to see some strong patterns associated with either excessively strong fingers or excessively weak ones! Lets have a look at some of the BIG areas that affect the extremes of physiology. Before you drive in, please remember were talking about real outliers of strength here! These observations are based around the far end of the scale either end and the most important thing in this case is to reflect on whether you think your own situation may mirror any of the scenarios below.... could it impact choices going forward? 🌪Too much going on in your life This one can be termed as allostatic load. We see this issue every single week!! Its in our DMs, on social media comments and in emails from inquiring climbers. Do NOT expect to jam your life with stress, lack of sleep, a 24-7 lifestyle and partying and be really strong. It doesnt work. 🥘 Eat well – High Energy Availability One pattern we have observed over the years is that climbers who spend long periods of time in calorie deficit, with very low body fat percentages really struggle to make significant, lasting strength gains. Those climbers are not coming through the long-term with excessively strong fingers or upper bodies. Yes, they can create the effect of high strength-to-weight (STW) by moderating body composition, but in the long run, it’s setting up any athlete for sub-optimal gains in strength. 4 Tips for Better Box Squats . This isnt a post for or against box squats. But rather how to get more out of them if you choose to use them. The left side is correct , the right side is a bunch of bullshit . . 1. If you have a proper adjustable box, make sure the corner of the box is pointed forward. Its safer and allows you to be aware of where the box is so you dont trip and fall back and die. @jacob.w.ross showed me this . . 2. A Box Squat is not a squat to a box. Your free squat and box squat technique should not be 1:1. In a true box squat we are hinging to the box and limiting the forward knee travel you see with a free squat. Look at slide 2 to see the difference in knee angles from the side. Your stance width will also most likely be a little wider and your torso angle will be steeper because of the lack of movement at the knee. 3. Stop rocking on the box- this is not doing you any favors. If you want any carryover to your free squat stop rocking. 4. Dont relax on the box. Would you relax in the bottom of a pause squat? No, so dont relax on the box. Isometric full body tension on the box is key to make them more effective. . Box squats can be a valuable tool, but like any tool the application and execution is key. Crossfit för mig är det som får mig att fortsätta träna! Ja när jag började träna då va jag lärd som alla andra PTs var musklerna satt. Hur man rörde och tränade dom musklerna. Sen tränade man dom i maskiner. Typ split pass. Rygg och biceps. Bröst och triceps. Mage. Cardio ja osv. Fyyyyyyyyyy fan va tråkigt. Ett halvår in som PT och min träningskarriär. Så kände jag hur tråkigt det va. Jag dog av tristess i maskinerna. Ja menar hallå så enformigt och outvecklade 🙄 Men sen hittade jag marklyft, knäböj och tillslut gymnastik och olympiska lyft och sen blev det naturligt att börja med crossfit. En mera idrottsspecifik träningsform. Jag hade absolut en fördel av att jag hade jobbat i maskiner innan då jag hade kontakt med mina muskler och va stark i överkroppen och benen vilket är ett plus i crossfit. Så missförstå mig rätt! Att börja i maskiner och jobba med basrörelser är superbra till en start och även rehab samt bygga muskler tärning. Men jag skulle slutat träna om jag inte fortsatte utveckla mig vidare. Så se till att alltid vara nyfiken. Jobba med mer än bara maskiner. Jobba med kroppsligt. Jobba mot gravitationen oxå! Stimulerar mera hjärna och är mera likt din vardag! Då vi alltid rör oss mot gravitationen. Så fortsätt ha nyfikenhet och testa nytt. Våga misslyckas för att i längden lyckas. Mis amigos de @boxtvar , alentando en cada evento y abrazándome a la distancia al finalizarlos . @nicoglenny_ph capturando los mejores y peores momentos, hasta casi filma cuando estaba a punto de lanzar todo post evento 5. @marianelasanchez08 y @emmagomez4183 , mis hermanos de la vida, los miras y es imposible no soltar una risa. 24 strict pull ups 61 kg 3RM no hook, no feet snatch 81 kg 3 clean + 1 Jerk Loooong post coming up: (TL;DNR: accept where you are and keep working for what you want without beating yourself up mentally!) Went home from training yesterday and felt it wasnt a good session. I was tired, drained and annoyed because I missed my 3RM snatch attempt at 71 kg and my complexes didnt felt perfect . Then I looked at my videos from the session and realized that Im an idiot thinking that way 😅. I did 2 PRs (video 2 & 3) and a shitload of pull ups, that most people would not even dream about doing in one set.. It can be tough being in competitive sport - you wanna do better every single day. Sometimes I get caught up in numbers and get annoyed with myself if the lifts feel different than I want them to and isnt perfect. Im working hard on not being to hard on myself and sometimes I succeed and sometimes I dont, but most inportant is that Im aware! So today I decided that yesterdays session actually was good - even though the no hook, no feet snatches was in front of me, even though I lost my back a little on the last clean and the jerk dip was bad and a looot of other things.. So why this long post? ⁣ Seated Cable Row for Lats⁣ ⁣ Seated Cable rows are a common and basic back exercise that can be used to target different muscles in your back.⁣ ⁣ If your goal is LATS here are some easy set up and execution goals and some things to avoid.⁣ ⁣ Keep in mind the #1 rule for targeting your lats. Arm path is king. Your lats pull your humerus (think elbow) DOWN and IN towards your spine. So your set up and execution should be dictated by that. ⁣ ⁣ -Choose a neutral grip and shoulder width or just slightly inside shoulder width attachment. I don’t like the standard V handle. It’s too narrow. Having your hands that close usually encourages your elbows to flare out to your side. (See rule #1, lats pull down and IN). It also puts an awkward rotational force on your elbows which could cause issues over time. The wider the individual the more these issues come into play.⁣ (Vid 2,3) ⁣ -Instead of sitting upright (meh) or leaning back (real bad) hinge your torso forward slightly, like 10-15 degrees. This will give your lats an increased ROM to do work. The further your humerus has to pull down the more work the lats have to do. Sitting upright reduces that range, leaning back even more so.⁣ (Vid 4,5) ⁣ -When you’re rowing think elbows DOWN, not back. Once elbows reach your torso think IN, not back. The cue of driving elbows back as far as you can isn’t good for your lats. Your lats won’t continue to pull on your humerus beyond its anatomical position on your body. Meaning once your elbows are as far back as your lats are the only place for them to still do work is to pull your humerus IN towards the spine (see rule #1). So by continuing to pull elbows back you actually lose tension on the lats and some other back muscle, probably rear delt, will take over.⁣ ⁣ Try it out.⁣ ⁣ Questions/Comments 👇🏻⁣ - @jeff.p.zahler on Instagram
