The pictures that capture the joyful moments of our baby being placed on our chest for the first time - along with those of us attempting to feed our infants while crying in baby stained PJ’s with messy hair. This is why we must tell our PMAD stories- so that other new and expecting moms don’t feel so alone as they struggle with hopelessness, helplessness, scary intrusive thoughts, and the hamster wheel of perpetual anxiety. By sharing our truths – we pave the way for new and expecting moms to come, and we get closer to a day where commercials about products that help women recover from birth are as common as those about medications that treat erectile dysfunction.
