Want great groins of fire? The adductors are the fab five muscles that make up what we know as groin musculature. They are another often undervalued and overlooked in terms of the role in performance and human movement. . Here’s a breakdown of the muscle itself and the biggest issues commonly seen: . Anatomical facts: 1️⃣They attach to the inner portions of the thigh and also to the pelvis at different locations and make up around 23% of the total mass of the lower extremities. The longus, brevis and magnus attach more anteriorly. The pectineus and gracilis attach more posteriorly and are a part of the anterior oblique subsystem and lateral subsystem. 2️⃣They play an important role in hip stabilization especially during walking and injury prevention. 3️⃣They are also direct antagonists to glute max, TFL and gluteus medius. These sons-of- a-bitches can either be facilitated or inhibited depending on what might be causing the issue(s). . . The biggest problems: 1️⃣If the glutes are on vacation and not functioning properly, the hamstrings often take over the primary work of the glutes to extend the hip, which creates strain on these muscles to adduct the hip because the glutes are inhibited. 2️⃣The most common groin pulls are pectineus and adductor longus/brevis. 3️⃣They are also analogous to tibialis posterior and peroneals roll and stabilizing the ankle during frontal plane movement. In addition, they are involved in eccentric deceleration and aspects of rotation. 4️⃣If adductors are chronically tight, they will always battle with the glutes or other musculature and wont allow the pelvis to get out of a large anterior tilt with internal rotation. That in turn can cause issues throughout the chain and even create knee pain. . 📍Scroll to see some movements to either strengthen or stretch the adductors. . 📍Take-home message: In most cases, the adductors are overworking (facilitated), and sometimes inhibited (underworking). If you need a hand with estimating portion control, use your own 😂 Not only is this little guide great for helping you estimate portion control, but it’s also a great guide to helping you structure your meals! Simply adjust the number of portions you need to meet your own personal macro goals. MEN: doubling these portion suggestions (ex: 2 palms for protein, 2 thumbs for fats, etc) would put you between ~2,300-3000 calories if you were eating 3-4 meals/day. WOMEN: the portion sizes above would put you between ~1,200-1,500 calories each day if you were eating 3-4 meals/day. That being said, ACTIVE men and women would do best with 6-8 servings of each food group per day (That’s ~1500-2100 calories for women). Yesterday I promised myself I’d get in the gym for a lift no matter what… but before I realised it was 1715 on a Friday afternoon, feeling mentally and physically exhausted from a lack of sleep since the arrival of our little man on Monday earlier this week. I’d spent the morning working with clients, lunchtime running errands and the afternoon at the laptop taking care of paperwork. I realised I had a 10minute window to do something before I needed to be on the road and home in time to put my two daughters to bed, but my body was in a hole! Quick body status check ? Energy - low, Brain - running on caffeine, Eyes - proped open w/ cocktail sticks, Joints - cranky, Muscles - flat 🥴 Clearly not a day to push! What you can see is 7minutes worth of restorative breathing (condensed). 2x5 breath reps of cat stretch (all fours breathing). 2x5 breath reps of wall hammy bridge w/ reach. Followed by 2 quick sets of chins and guns (*not included), because its Friday 😉 Over the past 7 years I’ve placed increasing stock on breath work to restore movement, improve muscle tone and turn down the autonomic nervous system. It’s a not a fix all method, but it is a pretty effective one when used at the right time. Horses for courses. Interested to hear more about how I apply breath work? Muitos achavam que os colaterais podiam não justificar essa estratégia.A cloroquina , ou hidrocloroquina sinalizou que essa linha tem fundamento.Se por um lado vi pessoas eufóricas ,achando que o pesadelo acabou,também vi outras desprezando totalmente sua utilização e os dados que temos disponíveis.É bem verdade que temos uma amostra pequena, e existem outras limitações nos estudos disponíveis,como falamos ontem.Acontece que muitos estão julgando equivocadamente apenas por um estudo.Antes de ontem saiu um artigo na revista Nature,uma das mais conceituadas do mundo,falando sobre a eficácia dela na inibição da infecção do vírus da covid 19.Nesse estudo foi demonstrado alguns mecanismos interessantes ,como a elevação do ph de organelas que naturalmente são ácidas,como endossomos. A hidrocloroquina também alteraria a glicosilação do receptor.Tudo foi analisado por imunofluorescencia e microscopia de altíssima resolução.Muitos vão dizer:Mas isso é estudo in vitro. É verdade. E se só tivéssemos isso seria muito pouco.Mas temos mais coisas.Ontem saiu um estudo francês usando hidrocloroquina e azitromicina realmente bem pequeno e não cego. Bem longe do ideal.Por outro lado aqueles que exigem uma metanalise pra considerar algo válido e não conseguem ver que é um quadro atípico é urgente também estão fora da realidade . Nesse pequeno estudo foi encontrado um surpreendente resultado de negativação da carga viral em boa parte dos pacientes.Mas aí vão falar que se fixou na carga viral e não analisaram a parte clínica. Mithilfe der Hand den Kopf langsam nach links und rechts drehen.  ✅ 20 Wdh. ☝️ Nur sanft drehen, sodass es sich vom Druck angenehm anfühlt, aber anstrengend tief vorne an der Halsmuskulatur. 3️⃣ Rückenlage, Füsse aufgestellt, Kinn einziehen.  Den Kopf ca. 5cm vom Boden heben und langsam nach links und rechts drehen, ohne das Kinn nach vorne zu schieben, ablegen. ✅ 3x10 Wdh. 👆 Steigerung von Übung 2, wichtig, dass du immer das Doppelkinn hälst! 4️⃣ Rückenlage, Blackroll quer unter der Brustwirbelsäule, Füsse aufgestellt, Gewichtsscheibe (ca. 5kg) mit beiden Händen hinter dem Kopf halten. Den Oberkörper ein wenig nach oben rollen und über die Rolle strecken.  ✅ 3x12 Wdh. 👆 Mobilisiere verschiedene Teile der Wirbelsäule, bei der du merkst, dass es klemmt. 5️⃣ Kleiner Ball (z.B. Tennisball oder Blackball) zwischen Wand und auf die Schultern. Mit Druck des Oberkörpers den verspannten Muskel bearbeiten. ✅ 3 x 30 - 60 Sek. halten, bis der Schmerz nachlässt. I wrote this years ago and I feel like many of my patients use my Facebook and Instagram posts to do just this... When we moved to Irving and I decided to join a practice in Lewisville, I realized I wanted to know more about the schools in the area and get a feel for the culture of the teachers that would be teaching my patients and kids. I searched online and found great and encouraging information about Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Irving and Lewisville school districts. I also looked up several teachers and administrators While I expected to get good information, I never expected to learn a concept that I hope to incorporate into my medical practice, but that is exactly what happened. I followed an educator on Twitter (@LaurenBibby) who is the Technology Integration Specialist for Lewisville ISD (@LewisvilleISD) and she has since “introduced” me to a concept known as the flipped classroom (even though she doesn’t know it yet). Wikipedia describes flipped learning as “a form of blended learning in which students learn new content online by watching video lectures, usually at home, and what used to be homework (assigned problems) is now done in class with teachers offering more personalized guidance and interaction with students, instead of lecturing.” So, students watch lectures at home in the afternoon then come to school the next day to do homework and other projects during class time. This gives the teacher time and opportunity to address what the student doesn’t understand from the lectures rather than have students turn to their parents for their Calculus homework (when dad had trouble passing Algebra). So, how does this apply to me and my practice? I’d like to have more patients to do “flipped check-ups.” In the flipped classroom, student listen to lectures at home and come prepared to do work and application related to the material. In a flipped check-up, parents would read and learn about the upcoming checkup (check out this page on my blog: Check-Ups for an example), develop specific questions and then allow me to get into deeper, higher-level education when they come in for their check-up... They help 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐠 and prevent shear and rotational forces that we know can be problematic! . If you’re having pain with weight bearing, these exercises and progressions are a great way to unload the leg and still light these muscles up 🍑 🔥 🔥 . 🙌Wall slides are one of my favorite non-weight bearing glute medius exercises. I love the slightly extended position which puts more emphasis on that posterior chain. 1. Wall slide 2. Wall slide - greater hip extension 3. Wall slide against physioball 4. Wall taps . The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) And how it interacts with CBD 🔬 The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) plays a crucial role in regulating our physiology, mood, and everyday experience. This system in our bodies comprised of receptors that have been said to interact exclusively with cannabinoids like CBD and THC. ⚗️ Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that trigger cannabinoid (and other) receptors. We have (at least) two types of cannabinoid receptors: CB1 which is in the central nervous system (brain and nerves of the spinal cord) CB2 which is in the peripheral nervous system (nerves in your extremities), the digestive system, and specialized cells in the immune system 🧬 Through these receptors, ECS helps to regulate functions like appetite, digestion, inflammation, memory, pain etc. Research has indicated that when CBD bonds with the CB1 or CB2 receptors, it is possible to alter and or improve the capabilities of that receptor by restoring balance within the body and improving the receptors functionality. 🧪 When researching maximum daily dosage of CBD, we found in large doses, it can inhibit the metabolizing properties of P450, temporarily neutralizing the effects of other medicinal products in the body’s system. ⁣Das sind deutlich Anzeichen von Übertraining.🤯⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ☝🏼 Übertraining ist der körperliche Zustand, in dem du trotz regelmäßigem Training immer schlechtere Leistung erbringst. Du regenerierst dich in der Erholungsphase nicht vollständig. Letztlich kann sich dein Körper nicht ausreichend auf die nächste Belastung vorbereiten. Kurzfristig und langfristig kann das erhebliche Schäden und Konsequenzen hinterlassen. Im Beitrag sind die typischen Symptome aufgelistet, an denen du ein Übertraining erkennen kannst. Du bist innerlich unruhig, hast starken und anhaltenden Muskelkater, musst einen starken Leistungsabfall hinnehmen, bist ständig müde, leidest unter einer erhöhten Krankheitsanfällligkeit, bist oft schlecht gelaunt und reizbar. Willst du Übertraining vermeiden und endlich deine Trainingsziele erreichen, dann solltest du diesbezüglich deinen optimalen Trainingsrhythmus finden. KNEE DECELERATION STRENGTH⁣ ⁣ 👆Here are some of our favorite drills to work on deceleration as well as propulsion in the more end stages of rehab. Many times it’s all about getting someone’s knee (and brain) more and more used to decelerating high amounts of forces in a quick manner in end stage rehab. Nothing beats isolated and targeted open chain knee extensions to target the vasti - but you have to put that quad strength to good use in more functional drills like these!⁣ ⁣ 🔑Some keys to look for when doing this drills:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣Positive shin angle. Make sure that knee is traveling past the toes! You technically can perform ALL of these movements with a very neutral shin angle. This would be an attempt of our body to decrease the external moment arm and what our quadriceps muscle has to produce to slow our forward progression⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣Weight through the balls of the foot at all times. No flat footed landings.⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣Don’t dump the chest forward and the hips up. Again, another compensatory strategy and trying to use the hip extensors to slow down the forward momentum rather than the knee extensors.⁣ ⁣ ‼️Regressions to many of these exercises can come in the form of slower speeds and no external overload. Form matters with these drills. I’d much rather move at 30% speed with a nice positive shin angle, weight through the ball of the foot, and a parallel trunk and shin angle than moving faster and with overload while lacking proper quadriceps loading.⁣ ⁣ 🔥Stole this first one from @ericmeirpt course. So simple and yet so effective. Can be patterned up and down in so many ways. ⁣ ⁣ 𝙆𝙣𝙚𝙚 [𝙋]𝙍𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙗 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢⁣ Knee aches and pains often get neglected until it’s too late, turning a minor fixable ache into a potential chronic pain and debilitating issue. Flow . Every athlete craves flow, the optimal performance state. But funnily enough, sometimes the more we try to access it, the harder it is to reach. Being fully immersed in performance often occurs quite naturally which I think adds to the mystique of it. . A systematic review from Swann et al., (2012) gathered 26 studies and aimed to analyse the factors which influence flow. The academics summarised that 10 factors influenced flow, outlined below. More importantly however, the academics found that these factors were a double edged sword. At an optimal level, these factors helped athletes to access flow, but at a sub-optimal level, they disrupted the state and performances. . By outlining the factors which contribute to flow, this research gives some guidance on what factors an athletes mental skills profile perhaps should prioritise (as well as indivudal needs of course). Travelling Australia in OHANA 🚎 with family on hold so based on the South Coast of NSW till the boarders open up again....
