Five live hatchlings were recovered from this nest that would not have been able to emerge on their own. To further flatten the curve and stop the spread of COVID-19, Capitola Beach will be closed to the public for Labor Day Weekend. The beach will close at 5am on Saturday, September 5, and reopen at 5pm on Monday, September 7. During the Closure Period (Sep. 5 – Sep. 7), the ocean will remain open for activity and water sports, so traversing the beach to access the water is allowed. On Saturday and Sunday, Capitola Beach will be opened from 6pm to 8pm only. Similar closures will be enforced at all Santa Cruz County and City beaches. Tripledoublewowza! The new Kaju Yatka Kalbarri Skywalk is simply awesome!! What a truly amazing engineering masterpiece overlooking the Murchison River Gorge. Gotta say, soooooo impressed with all the newly installed infrastructure that has been established in the Kalbarri region the past year. Awesome trails, great interpretive information and art installations. All perfectly timed for the influx of West Aussies wandering out yonder this year👍. But theres a big truth in the early birds catching the worm😂. We got up at 5.15 to make it here for sunrise and had it almost all to ourselves as the sun rose over a misty landscape. We hiked trails until 10am and then the hordes arrived😳. Literally hundreds of cars and thousands of people! 😞 OUR LOST SEASON 😞 Where do I begin.... Sponsor stage banners should have been mounted today for the Labor Day Weekend C.T. Fletcher ISCA World Strict Curl & Muscle Beach Championship. Due to social distancing restrictions, City of L.A./Rec. & Parks would not issue permits this year. The decision to cancel the 2020 season was taken out of my hands. In anticipation of crowd gathering size restrictions being lifted, weve been diligently working on next years Memorial Day Weekend, C.T. Fletchers ISCA Muscle Beach Strict Curl, Saturday May 29th, & the Muscle Beach Intl Classic, Monday May 31, 2021. Regarding the weight pen, new equipment has been purchased. Once gym guidelines have been established, we anticipate installation and access sometime next year. LAST, but certainly not least, PLEASE continue to practice safe distancing & WEAR YOUR MASK. Okay so my time with Hopey is coming to an end and I gotta say GIRL TIME IS SO HEALING. I believe every friend is unique and fills certain parts of us up: for me @hope_annarose reminds me to keep having fun and making an effort to DRESS UP! And we either hang out looking disgusting or fully dressed to the nines and there is no in between... I love that. 🤣 It’s so fun and relaxed. This week we looked at wedding dresses, had tons of deep talks, big laughs. She helped me feel more confident about my hair and also taught me so much shiz in the kitchen. Many things I will bring to VF. Also her and Dan were making jokes via text that I help with dishes but I am NOT allowed to wash her cast iron skillets or nice knives 🤪 Ugh such a great week and I’m sad to leave but I also can’t wait to be back with Dan. We checked out the newly opened @area15official a few days ago and WOW. Just, WOW. Even without anchor tenants @meow__wolf and @lostspiritsdistillery open yet, there is SO MUCH to do and see. It is VERY cool, and honestly we probably only saw about 1/4 of it. ——— You have to reserve tickets ahead of time; it’s free to do so but they’re currently completely sold out through October and haven’t opened up reservations for November yet. Once inside, there are bars to eat and drink at and several of the “rides” are open (those aren’t free, though), including one that zips you around the ceiling so you get a birds-eye-view of the whole venue! ——— Here’s photos just from the outside leading to the main entry. Public Works staff have completed some Pier Plaza landscape improvements. A drip irrigation system was installed along with plant species suitable for the coastal environment. Aloe, agave, California native rush and grasses mixed with rock and gravel mulch have replaced the synthetic turf.
