It’s taken me a few days to articulate the overwhelming feeling of emotion I’ve felt from the number of messages I’ve had following my Podcast from a few days ago. In which I opened up about aspects of my life that I’ve only started to understand in self reflection stemming from my desire to strive to be the best version of myself that represents my values and traits. This isn’t about being perfect and self righteous or thinking I’ll never have moments or periods again where I’ll become a Pratt and wish I’d handled events differently! But the realisation that life is not always going to be easy and there are always lessons to learn from and improve. Using my podcast as platform to voice and acknowledge past events has been liberating and rewarding! My sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to message me and I am truly touched at some of the stories people have been kind enough to share and I consider that a privilege to be able to hear other people’s stories. Big-Block Supermodifieds Return To Thompson For World Series NAPLES, ME (September 25) – Officials from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and American-Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today that the Big-Block Supermodifieds of ISMA will be returning to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the 58th Annual World Series Of Speedway Racing. The ISMA Supermodifieds are one of 19 divisions that will be racing at Thompson as part of the World Series from Friday, October 9th through Sunday, October 11th. The breathtaking Big-Block Supermods will compete for 50 laps and will join the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finale, along with the PASS Super Late Models on the final day of racing. “The ISMA Supermodifieds are one of the most exciting divisions in pavement racing and we are happy to bring them back for their traditional visit to Thompson as part of the World Series, said PASS President Tom Mayberry. The World Series is one of the biggest weekends of racing in New England and we are really happy to provide such a great card of short track racing to our fans. The first ISMA Supermodified race to be held at Thompson as part of the World Series was in 1975 and was won by 9-time NASCAR Modified Champion, Richie Evans. Since ISMA returned to the World Series at Thompson in 2010, legendary names like Chris Perley, Ben Seitz, Dave Shullick, Jr., and Jon McKennedy have taken their Supermodifieds to the hallowed frontstretch victory lane. We present to you the #RaceHorsetoRoyalShowHorse Series: Stormtrooper (Registered name S JS Stormtrooper) Breeder: Cedarknoll Racing Stable, Puslinch, ON Race Career: Raced from age 3-7. 79 lifetime race starts, 7 wins, earnings of $94,659 and a lifetime race mark of 1:56.4 set at Georgian Downs. Show Career: Purchased by Lloyd and Carolyn Nugent in late 2010 and successfully transitioned to the show ring by winning the Green Roadster Classic (for road horses in their first or second year in the show ring) in 2011 and 2012. In addition to winning multiple qualifying classes “Trooper” successfully won numerous championships at the Royal including 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017 Canadian Bike Champion, and 2018 Canadian Road Horse to Wagon Champion. As with so many exhibitors involved in the Road Horse Division, family is vitally important, The Nugent family is the perfect example of that. Until Lloyd’s passing in 2019, Nugent Stables with Lloyd overseeing training, and Carolyn doing much of the driving. Carolyn has now added training to her repertoire and intends to continue in her father’s footsteps. When asked what qualities first attracted Carolyn and her late father Lloyd to Stormtrooper, Carolyn said: “What we saw in Trooper was his beauty all around, a fine head, nice long neck, trots light footed like he isnt touching the ground, high knee action even when he walks and lots of spirit. His race trainer Robert McKenzie, Jr. had him well-mannered so it didnt take us long to bring him along to be a show horse. The thing with Trooper is he has a switch like no other horse we owned, calm at home, in the stall, trailering and getting ready for a class but when you check him up he switches into full show gear. As my Dad would always say he has motion and presence and thats what we look for in a road horse.” The Nugent family’s favourite memory of showing Stormtrooper, who is still going strong at age 17, is when he won the Green Roadster Classic in 2011 and then following it up by being named Reserved Champion Road Horse to Bike that same year against many more experienced horses - Carolyn Nugent 📸 - Clive Cohen/New Image Media - @theroyalfair on Instagram
