How has bushcraft changed you? 🔥 . The other day, while sitting in traffic alone in my car, I noticed a ‘V’ of Canada geese flying overhead, due south. I found myself saying aloud, “Goodbye, Geese! Have a good winter! See you next year!” Then I thought to myself, “How odd. 🤔I’m talking to geese!” Then I realized that *this* is what bushcraft has done to me! . In the most wonderful of ways, it has changed me. It has brought me closer to nature, when I never even realized that I needed it or that this relationship was something missing from my life. I now notice the smells of trees and see signs of animal life so much more, even in the city. I notice how bird activities change from season to season. I feel much richer for it. . In bushcraft, we *take* from the natural environment. We use it and create from it heat, shelter, tools, containers, furniture, etc. On the surface, it may look like bushcrafters don’t care about protecting the environment, because we’re taking from its resources. But there is definitely something about getting my own hands dirty and ‘taking’ from Mother Nature that has made me acutely aware of just how much she is giving and I am receiving. And it leaves me filled with gratitude and a desire to do my part to make sure the land continues to be healthy and rich enough to continue to give. . A dohány ‒ és az élvezetét elősegítő pipa ‒ Amerikából érkezett Európába, s a 16. század végén vált egyre közkedveltebbé. Isztambulban is megjelent a 16. század végén, és a 17. század második felére már az oszmán elit kedvelt élvezeti cikkének számított. Míg Nyugat-Európában inkább a rövid szárú változatok terjedtek el, a törökök – az indiánokhoz hasonlóan ‒ a kis, cserépből formázott pipafejekbe hosszú, akár 1‒1,5 méteres szárat illesztettek, alighanem a füst lehűtése végett. Magyarországon a kávézással együtt ezt is az oszmánok terjesztették el, erre utal a dohány (törökül: duhan ’füst, dohány’) és a viszonylag későn megjelenő csibuk (törökül: çubuk ’vessző, pipaszár’) szavunk. A hagyományos magyar pipák is török formára készültek. A török pipafejeket nagy formai változatosság jellemzi, és sokféle módon díszítették őket. A legdíszesebbek mázasak, ezek között találunk feliratosakat is: többnyire a liká’u l-mahbúbi l-kulúba (a szeretett lény találkozása a szívekkel) szöveg olvasható rajtuk, ennek töredékei szerepelnek az Erdélyi bástyában talált példányon is. Sokkal több a mázatlan darab, amelyeket apró bepecsételt motívumokkal díszítettek, ezek többnyire világosabb anyagúak. A leletek többségét az egyszerű, díszítetlen, vörösre égett darabok adják. A pipák formája keveset változott a 18. század folyamán, a törökös forma élt tovább. A készítés technikája azonban átalakult: innentől kezdve inkább formába nyomva készítették, és bemélyedő virág- és levélmotívumok díszítették őket. Here is a terrific poster for Goal #15 by the wonderful Iranian artist Parisa Tashakori. Parisa Tashakori, Iranian graphic designer, art director and curator, was born in Tehran, Iran, where she was graduated in Graphic Design and was granted an honorary doctorate from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. She has collaborated as designer and art director for several international advertising agencies and cultural institutions. Now, she works as art director in her own studio, focusing primarily on social and cultural communication. Tashakori was a member of the board of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) and was in charge of the society exhibition section from 2012 to 2015. Parisa’s works has been exhibited over than 80 exhibitions in various countries and has received some international awards including, COW! festival In Ukraine, Ekoplagat in Slovakia, Tehran poster biennial, Ukraine Ecoposter triennial 4thBlock, among others. She has been member of the jury for numerous national and international competition and festivals like Lahti Poster Triennial in Finland, Mut zur Wut in Germany, Samsun International Poster Competition in Turkey, 13th Poster biennial in Mexico, “Silver Cypress” in Iran, “Posterfortomorrow” in France, “and Anti -AIDS” in Ukraine. Tashakori has organized and carried out various cultural projects and workshops as well, individually or jointly with her friends, the most important of which include: Poland Graphic Design Week in two cities of Iran, Tehran-Taipei collective poster exhibition in Taiwan, Vitrine: A historical exhibition of Iranian book cover designs in Tehran, 2nd IGDS museum exhibition (selection of old Iranian theatre posters), Divarkoob: collective poster exhibition in 5 cities of Iran. - @posterswithoutborders on Instagram

From roadside trash to beauty of the ball! I love it when I can take something destined for trash and use the skills of local craftspeople to turn it into a designer piece of furniture. This miners couch will be @upcycle.recycle.design.studio alongside beautiful work from a host of other Australian creatives who use waste materials in their designs. This piece has been repaired and the cushion has been made in a traditional #frenchprovincial style with buttons and running stitch border.
