This afternoon, The Queen conferred the Honour of Knighthood on Captain Sir Thomas Moore at an Investiture in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle. The Queens arrival into the quadrangle was signalled by the sound of bagpipes played by the Queens Piper, Pipe Major Richard Grisdale, of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The Queen knighted Captain Sir Tom Moore with the sword that belonged to her father, King George VI, and awarded him with his insignia of Knight Bachelor. In April, the 100-year-old Second World War veteran raised almost £33 million for the NHS by embarking on 100 laps of his garden with the initial aim to raise £1,000. Her Majesty had a brief chat with Sir Tom and his family. She told him: Thank you so much, an amazing amount of money you raised. Captain Sir Tom Moores knighthood was announced by the Prime Minister on 20th May, outside of the usual announcements of the Queens Birthday Honours and the New Years Honours. __________ The Queen wore the same Angela Kelly outfit she wore earlier today to Princess Beatrices wedding. The outfit is comprised of a coat in pale aqua wool crêpe and silk print dress on aqua background, with an aqua straw hat with a slightly upturned bound brim, trimmed with pale grey arrow cut feathers, hand rolled pink straw flowers and curling green leaves on the side. Вместе с тем, я искренне рад, что она есть. Стране – всякой стране – совершенно необходим противопоставляющий себя власти голос. Кстати, хотел бы заметить, что в так называемых демократических странах оппозиция гораздо менее слышна, чем у нас. Скажем, в США Демократическая партия борется за власть с Республиканской, но она не является оппозицией в истинном смысле этого слова, поскольку она сторонник той же власти – она просто хочет отнять ее, но не изменять.
