- Dad and daughter, both gone now. I lost her in a house fire, along with my mom and aunt. He took his own life. Idk what comes after this life, but I hope they can be together this Fathers Day and all be at peace.
I was once at a party, naked and free bleeding. A man politely said to me, “hey, I think you’ve got blood on your leg”. I looked him dead in the eye, reached between my legs, grabbed the blood, and marked it across my face like war paint. Then I started laughing. Without words, two other women reached between my legs and put my blood on their faces. It felt very primal and raw, and for a moment I became an animal, my ego took the back seat, and I felt primordial energy surging thru my body. I felt present, light yet intense, and connected to everything. Menstruation is such an interesting experience, I often felt connected to a deep part of myself when I am bleeding. During this time I often go more inward, connect to Gaia wisdom, literally and metaphorically shed something, and remember that I am an untamed feline, fierce and powerful, carrying creative life force and connected to death. - One nasty dog bite and 16 stitches later. An 18 yo girl was attacked by a 110 pound dog, no internal damage, just one scar. Bite resulted in a sliced lip in half from corner all the way down to the lateral angle of mandible. Last picture is 2 months after the incident.

- UPDATE. The staph/strep photo was taken after 5 days in the hospital on multiple antibiotics. The EHL tendon had been repaired with multiple surgeries and complications. This is the foot before surgery. I was septic and hospitalized for 2 weeks! Toes were done several surgeries ago.

Going into the 19th week of postpartum and wheeeeeew has it been a journey! This is always my favorite part- watching babe grow, and my body grow through the ups and downs. I’ll always scream there’s no “snap back,” “bounce back.” Unrealistic expectations pressure so many women. What the “bounce back,” should be about is our inner strength. Our mental health is so so soooooo important. I struggled all 3 postpartums with depression and it’s no fun. And I can’t lie after my first babe the postpartum really hit as I compared my body to others. COMPARISON IS TOXIC. We have to love and respect the bodies that gave life. This body gave me a family. But let’s take a second to shy away from “body, body, body.” What’s most important here is this very moment. My baby girl asleep on me- a quiet morning, soaking in this love. Self love, Motherly love. This is me, in my moment- my favorite moments. No posing, no flexing, just me in my raw. LOVE you, so you can BE you!
