Yes, we moved out of the van and into an apartment while Steve pursues his MFA in fiction writing! I’ve been busy with DIYs and one of those was building my own desk (along with spraying the orange cabinet). It’s super simple. Materials: 4 hairpin legs 1 piece of 2x4-foot, 3/4-inch thick plywood Screws (they usually come with the legs) Drill and bits Sander to smooth your surface Varnish to seal your surface After sanding and varnishing, here’s how to give it legs: 1/ Lay your piece of wood flat with the underside facing up. 2/ Measure 1 inch (you can measure farther in if you want) in from both sides of each corner. 3/ Dry fit the hairpin legs and mark the holes. 4/ Pre-drill your holes. Be careful not to punch all the way through. 5/ Screw in the legs. Voila! - @hi_amelia on Instagram

Dejen solo los artículos de aseo que se usan, categoricen, pongan en contenedores, etiqueten y mantengan 🙌🏻 💫 Hay infinidad de opciones en cuanto a cajas y organizadores para hacer de este espacio un lugar más funcional e incluso estético. 💫 Si se fijan en las fotos todos los canastos son plásticos, de esta forma es más fácil lavarlos y duran más. Para otros sectores de la casa pueden usar materiales como mimbre, genero, fieltro, cartón, etc. 💫 Si no tienen suficiente espacio, les recomiendo usar el espacio vertical, o sea, los muros, así queda el suelo lo más despejado posible. Con repisas, ganchos y/o muebles murales. 💫 Ojala colgar todo, tabla de planchar, tendedero de ropa, escoba/pala, etc. 💫 Tratemos de dejar aquí solo cosas de aseo y lavado y ojalá lo justo y necesario, si no tienen espacio les recomiendo no comprar la promo de 15 detergentes 😅 . . . Yesterday marked exactly one year since I took the plunge and moved to London. To say it was the best decision I could have made would be an understatement. It was just three months after Ben’s passing that I moved and up until that point it was a hazy blur running on a potent fuel of excitement for change mixed with the pure heartbreak of having my two years apart twin ripped away from me. Now ... I really am home. When the move was first done, no new job to go to and a load of hours to sit listening to my dark thoughts, I had no distractions and now realise it was when my grieving properly started. When someone dies your life changes forever, you start this new chapter of devastation and you certainly don’t get given a hand book on ‘Grieving’. One I’m not sure on reflection I would read after knowing the tunnel of pain you have to ride through. When you lose someone and tell another human they instantly feel the need to try to make you feel better (or themselves) and say something like “I know how you feel, my Nan died last year, in a few months you’ll be ok, 7 stages of grief and all that”. I think I can talk on behalf of most when I say, please refrain from being such an imbecile and don’t compare your personal experience with losing someone and how you grieved to someone else’s. Losing a loved one is harrowing but every single one of us humans are wired differently. What we feel, how we react, our mind, bodies, souls and for every person unlucky enough to have a ticket to ride through that tunnel of pain to grief will be different. The room I’m sitting in (in my cousins flat) was the room Ben was supposed to move into. Sprinkled all around this room are some of Ben’s belongings and pictures of his beautiful face. I always say goodnight to him and good morning. What started with saying them through teary eyes is slowly being out weighed through smiles. My love of displaying family photos as art pieces throughout our home shows itself in a lot of ways. These photo ledges are about the most traditional displays we have, but still feel like a unique take. I typically change 5 or 6 prints every 6 months or so, but admittedly haven’t changed anything since Christmas. TBH we’re homesick. When all we know is that a “forever home” is far away (or maybe even non existent for us) family memories just feel like our forever. That’s why I love filling our walls with prints rather than buying less sentimental decor. It’s official, I’m in full “nesting” mode... although for me it’s more like “oh crap this kid is coming any minute and we need to stop putting off that mile long to do list” mode🤪 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think a lot of it was brought on by the fact we are coming to the realization that the birth experience we thought we were going to have likely won’t be a reality. It’s crazy to think when we first found out we were pregnant, we never in a million years thought we’d be facing the same COVID restrictions we were facing earlier this year. Oddly enough, house projects like this have given me a little sense of control as I come to terms with all the unknowns around what we will face when October comes. Trying to stay optimistic over here!
