June 25-26, 1876. Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer and over 268 men of the 7th US Cavalry Regiment were slaughtered in the Battle of Little Bighorn by Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes near Little Bighorn River, Montana. The Natives hoped by winning the battle Americans would leave native land for good. Instead the death of Custer as well as the 7th made the American public outraged, and the vengeful US military brought the Sioux tribe to their knees by 1877. All Sioux land had been annexed by the US in the Agreement of 1877, and placed Native Americans in reservations ending the Great Sioux War of 1876. Custer and the 7th would go down in American history as icons, and heroes for their last stand. _______________ #ushistory #americanhistory #history #usa #american #america #tagafriend #tagsomeone #tagaperson #sioux #littlebighorn #custer #cavalry #7th #montana #native #nativeamerican - @ushistorydaily on Instagram

- Thirty Years Total War has more potential than Medieval 3 or Empire 2. Fight me.
