Dia desses questionaram-me sobre a principal diferença entre a escola filosófica de Platão e a escola filosófica de Aristóteles. Respondi que, além do nome (“Academia” era a de Platão, e “Liceu” a do Aristóteles), as filosofias de ambos pensadores divergia no ponto mais magistral de todos: “Como e por que gente pensa?”, ou seja, a Origem do Pensamento, a Origem da Racionalidade, a Origem das Ideias. Para Platão nós, antes de nascermos, temos contato com o Mundo das Ideias, aonde conhecemos todos os conceitos de tudo que está ao nosso redor. Porém, justo no momento antes de virmos a este mundo, beberíamos a água do Rio Léthe, o “Rio do Esquecimento”, e portanto passaríamos a ter apenas uma ideia do que realmente são as coisas e seria necessário, aqui na Terra, relembrar todos os conceitos agora esquecidos. Ou seja, as ideias para Platão eram INATAS. Já nasciam com o ser humano. Já Aristóteles pensava muito diferente. Se Platão enxergava a existência de um Mundo Ideal (Mundo das Ideias), Aristóteles era muito mais Realista (“res” = coisa). Enxergava o Mundo das “Coisas”. E portanto o Conhecimento seria alcançado principalmente através da Experiência dos humanos com as “coisas”, com o mundo tangível, com o mundo tocável. Ou seja, as ideias para Aristóteles eram apreendidas através dos sentidos, elas eram EMPÍRICAS. Pensando sobre isto me lembrei do gigantesco afresco que está pintado nos aposentos do Papa Alexandre VI, desde 1501 lá no Vaticano. Dentre os inúmeros filósofos que compõe a “Escola de Atenas”, Rafael retratou nas duas figuras centrais Platão e Aristóteles. Se vocês observarem com atenção, verão que Platão, o mais velho e professor de Aristóteles, caminha com sua “República” embaixo do braço, e aponta o indicador direito para cima, para sua Origem do Pensamento, seu “Mundo das Ideias”. Já seu pupilo Aristóteles peripateticamente divaga com o seu mestre carregando sua “Ética Nicomaqueia” em uma das mãos e estendendo a outra para baixo, sobre a sua Origem do Pensamento, espalhada na “Experiência vivida no Mundo Real”. How powerless an emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar was! The Mughal Empire was in a continuous state of decline ever since Aurangzebs death. By the time Bahadur Shah Zafar became the Emperor, his real authority existed only within the walls of the Red Fort. The British Resident (representative of Governor General to the Palace), Sir Thomas Metcalfe, kept a firm eye on Zafar’s daily life and frequently forbade him from exercising rights that the Emperor regarded as sacrosanct. No nobleman from outside Delhi could enter the Red Fort without Metcalfe’s permission. To enforce his right to rent from his own lands, Zafar had to make an application to the British courts. He could not present gems from the crown jewels even to his own family members without first informing the Resident, and was occasionally, humiliatingly, made to ask for the return of unauthorised gifts if the agent came to hear about them. Zafar could not gift khilats (robes of honour, symbols of overlordship) on noblemen from outside the Delhi without Metcalfe’s say-so: when Raja Gulab Singh of Kollesur paid a visit to the court, presenting a nazr (or offering of fealty) of ‘a horse and 7 gold mohurs’, in return for which Zafar gave him a khilat, Metcalfe promptly made the Raja return it. A petition was received from Mirza Shoojat Shah stating that a chief had arrived and was desirous of visiting the Palace. Zafar replied that without the Agent’s permission no chief of a foreign territory could be allowed entrance. Как врачи развивают стоматофобию у детей. ⠀ На иллюстрации картина врача-художника Шикото, «Интубация» (1904). Мы видим маленького ребенка, который, сидя на коленях любящей матери, доверяет врачу серьёзную и болезненную процедуру. Мать держит малыша за ручки фиксируя их, ассистент придерживает головку малыша: крепко, но без насилия. Ребенок напряжен, но не вырывается из рук и не паникует, доверяясь взрослым. В целом это то, чего и желают добиться врачи в лечении детей. Им не нужно, чтобы ребенок с радостью ложился под шприц и нож: им достаточно, чтобы ребенок доверился. ⠀ Как-то услышал такую фразу от детского врача-стоматолога: «Ничего страшного, если ребенка подержать». ⠀ Некоторые врачи лояльно относятся к тому, чтобы физически фиксировать ребенка, когда тот сопротивляется. «Немного утихомирить», так сказать. Мол, ребенок и сам после процедуры поймет, что это для его блага, получит награду от мамы за терпение и успокоится. ⠀ Как эксперт, преподающий психологию, хочу разъяснить, почему я не рекомендую удерживать ребенка насильно. Если без физического воздействия убедить его не удается, то лучше отложить лечение. ⠀ А в случае, когда откладывать лечение нельзя, лучше применить медикаментозные методы от седативной премедикации до седации. И вплоть до общей анестезии. ⠀ Если вы ребенка успешно зафиксируете, то «ничего страшного» не произойдет только в рамках одной процедуры. Но впереди ребенка ждёт ещё много медицинских процедур. И эпизод становится предпосылкой к развитию стоматофобии, а иногда панических атак уже во взрослом состоянии. С последствиями уже придется работать неврологам и психотерапевтам. ⠀ Добавлю даже больше: фактически у всех людей, кто приобрел стоматофобию, был эпизод, когда его насильно удерживали в кресле стоматолога. ⠀ Прошу коллег, которые все еще думают, что «нет ничего страшного в том, чтобы подержать ребенка», поразмыслить над этим, и впредь думать не в рамках одной процедуры, а в комплексе. ⠀ Если вы хотите, чтобы ребенок вернулся к вам еще раз и доверился вам более охотно, то лучше применять другие методы воздействия. La Madonna di Joris van der Paele è la più grande opera di Jan van Eyck (Maaseik, 1390 circa – Bruges, 1441) dopo il Polittico dell’Agnello mistico. L’opera fu realizzata tra il 1434 e il 1436 su incarico di Joris van der Paele (1370 circa – 1443), canonico della chiesa di San Donaziano, allora il principale edificio di culto di Bruges. Il dipinto raffigura una complessa struttura teologica fondata su diversi livelli di lettura e significato. Formalmente, la composizione ricorda un epitaffio: e in effetti, sia il dipinto sia l’eredità lasciata dal fondatore della cappella avevano lo scopo di tramandare la sua memoria. Sulla sinistra infatti vediamo san Donaziano che, in quanto santo titolare della collegiata di Bruges, viene collocato nella posizione gerarchica più importante, a destra di Maria. Di fronte a lui, a sinistra della Vergine, vediamo il donatore inginocchiato, e vestito con una tunica bianca, Joris van der Paele viene presentato da san Giorgio (suo santo eponimo, nonché patrono), raffigurato in una splendida armatura dorata, che riluce della grazia della Vergine e del Bambino. Il santo, che porta sul petto la scritta in lingua ebraica “Adonai” (“Signore”), si toglie l’elmo in segno di saluto e con la mano sinistra indica il canonico. Imagine today.. a sunny day, but then 400 years ago: 16 September 1620. On this day, the Pilgrims (a group of English Puritans) set sail from the port in Plymouth (UK) on a ship called the Mayflower, to travel to the free colonies in Massachusetts (US). Like today, it was sunny apparently. But the voyage of the Pilgrims across the transatlantic was harsh. It took them 66 days, as they left the UK in September their crossing was afflicted by winter storms and seasickness. The Pilgrims had already been travelling for a long time. To escape religious persecution, they decided to flee England for the Netherlands from 1609 onwards - back in the days, the Dutch republic was seen as a liberal nation where they could live peacefully. The Pilgrims settled in Leiden, where they lived and worked for 12 years. They built houses in what is today known as Engelse poort (English Alley). Another astonishing fact that shows just how much impact the arrival of these European settlers has had on America: no less than nine US presidents are descendants of these Leiden Pilgrims. Throughout 2020, museums in the Dutch cities of Leiden and Rotterdam - as in the UK and the US - are dedicating exhibitions to the Mayflower. The commemoration is not solely focused on the time the Pilgrims spent in the Netherlands or their stories on the boat. The perspectives of Native American communities on the consequences of the arrival of the Pilgrims form an integral part of the story. Today, our Ambassador Karel van Oosterom joined the commemoration ceremony in Plymouth, together with the US Ambassador in the UK, Admiral Tony Radakin (First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy) and online representation of the Wampanoag. The crew of IBM and MSubs also joint - who built a new autonomous vessel, powered by AI and energy from the sun, bearing the same name as the old Mayflower. This vessel was taken to water for the first time, opening doors for the future of shopping and oceanography. La figura di carattere cerimoniale si staglia contro un cielo terso e ha il corpo leggermente rivolto verso destra, questo fa si che lo sguardo non vada ad incontrare quello dello spettatore. La sezione a sinistra del quadro è occupata da un monumentale elemento architettonico forse l’angolo di un edificio o un pilastro di un’ampia loggia. Su di esso è tracciata l’iscrizione celebrativa che ricorda l’origine maceratese del gesuita e il suo primato come evangelizzatore della città imperiale. Happy Birthday Edward Burne-Jones! The British painter and designer Edward Burne-Jones was born on this day in 1833. One of the key figures of the Pre-Raphaelite group, Burne-Jones also worked closely with the designer William Morris and was a co-founder of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. In addition to paintings, Burne-Jones was involved in the resurgence of the art of stained glass in Britain. Examples of his paintings, stained glass, and illustrations are on view in the AFA exhibition, “Victorian Radicals: From the Pre-Raphaelites to the Arts & Crafts Movement.” In his unfinished painting, “The Wizard” which he worked on from 1891 to 1898, we see a hooded sorcerer revealing a convex mirror behind a curtain. Is the shipwreck we see in that mirror happening at the moment or is this a view into the future? Burne-Jones never identified a specific literary source of this painting, so perhaps the scene was drawn from his own imagination. “Victorian Radicals” resumes its national tour when it opens at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno on March 6, 2021. Nato a Coma in Egitto, a ventanni (intorno al 250) abbandonò ogni cosa per vivere in solitudine e dedicarsi alla contemplazione e alle pratiche ascetiche per più di 80 anni: morì ultracentenario nel 356. Lopera nella foto, un gonfalone processionale con leffige del santo, realizzato nel 1457 circa da Niccolò di Liberatore detto l’Alunno, veniva portato in processione, e per questo è dipinto su entrambi i lati. Anche dopo il suo ingresso nella pinacoteca di #Deruta, e fino al 1953, è stato impiegato nella processione del 17 gennaio per la festa del santo dedicatario. I’m grateful for the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. 𝑰𝑳 𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑬 𝑮𝑹𝑬𝑪𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑨 𝑫𝑰 𝑭𝑰𝑹𝑬𝑵𝒁𝑬. Il greco antico, una lingua che per lungo tempo lEuropa dimenticò e con essa tutto il sapere antico che quella lingua aveva espresso. Ma se per tutto lAlto Medioevo e molto del Basso tale conoscenza fu dimenticata e in parte osteggiata per via dello scisma tra Cattolici ed Ortodossi, dal XV° secolo ci fu una ripresa dei contatti con lOriente greco e un ritorno di quel sapere. In Toscana, a Montepulciano, proprio in quei tempi nacque Angelo Ambrogini, il 14 luglio 1454, conosciuto ai più con il nome di Poliziano, dal nome latino di Montepulciano: Mons Politianus. Figlio di un avvocato, il padre morì a causa di una vendetta trasversale quando aveva 10 anni e perciò fu costretto a fuggire a Firenze. Lì riuscì a frequentare lUniversità venendo a contatto con illustri letterati come Marsilio Ficino e Giovanni Argiropulo. Per dimostrare la sua abilità a soli 17 anni tradusse dal greco al latino i primi due libri dellIliade, dimostrando in ciò sia un rigore grammaticale che una grande vastità di lessico. Dedicò lopera ai fratelli Lorenzo e Giuliano de Medici che, apprezzando il gesto, lo accolsero nella loro corte, proteggendolo e finanziandolo. Nel 1475, Lorenzo decise di farlo divenire precettore del figlio Piero per poi spingerlo a divenire sacerdote e canonico in Santa Maria del Fiore. Poliziano assistette impotente nel 1478 alla Congiura dei Pazzi in cui morì Giuliano e, a causa di questo e di una epidemia di peste, accompagnò Lorenzo nella villa di Cafaggiolo. Scrisse perciò una cronaca dellevento e poi, entrato in contrasto con la moglie di Lorenzo, lasciò Cafaggiolo per girare lItalia. Dopo essere stato a Mantova, decise di tornare a Firenze, nel 1480, e ottenendo da Lorenzo la cattedra di greco nello Studio Fiorentino. Stretta amicizia con Pico della Mirandola con questi stese testi poetici come Sylvae e la traduzioni di alcune opere aristoteliche. Nel 1492, alla morte di Lorenzo, il Poliziano cercò di ottenere la carica di cardinale attraverso linfluenza di Piero de Medici, ma lambiente di Firenze gli era divenuto ostile a causa del Savonarola e finì per essere avvelenato, il 29 settembre 1494. - @il.medioevo.social on Instagram

Si tratta della Madonna con il Bambino tra i santi Gennaro, Nicola di Bari e Severo dipinta dal pittore napoletano Filippo Vitale nel 1618. Il santo, che indossa abiti vescovili, è riconoscibile perché mostra, poggiate su un libro, le due ampolle con il sangue miracoloso, raccolto secondo la tradizione da una pia donna dopo il martirio.
