((First of all, DON’T PANIC. Emma is perfectly fine now 🥰🥰)) Here’s the thing about food allergies vs sickness. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s really going on.... is your child sick? Is it a reaction? And when you have a form of PTSD from your child’s last anaphylactic reaction... it makes it hard for you NOT to jump into “worst case scenario mode”. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago. Emma woke up around 3AM in excruciating stomach pain and had severe nausea. After talking with the CHOA nurse we decided to take her in to get checked out. Turns out it was thankfully just a 24 hour stomach virus. The thing is... I am still feeling unsettled about it. Nobody else in our family got sick, and we really hadn’t been anywhere that week so I have NO idea where she would’ve gotten it. It’s also strange to me that Emma had started with baked dairy again that week, and although her allergist doesn’t think it was from that (since her reaction was almost 24 hours later), I’m still very nervous about starting it up again. My beautiful Mother in Law, Teresa danced her way into heaven yesterday. I’ve never met a more courageous, warrior of a woman. She was such a beam of shimmering turquoise light. She WAS the party. Dear All, After two weeks with low energy and lots of sneezing, a trip to the vet was in order. We discovered I’ve recently had significant weight loss - from 15 pounds to 11. Got a full work up & learned the bad news today - that I’ve got Diabetes. The good news is - remission is considered a reasonable goal! Other good news is, my favorite people finally discovered I’m a big Chet Baker fan, so hopefully they’ll play that more in my presence to soothe me when needed. On Friday my humans will learn how to treat me with insulin therapy. We all have a lot of learn and I’ve got lots of changes ahead for treating this, so please send along the positive vibes that it leads me to feeling better! Many of you have seen this sweet kitty before. He was found deep inside an evacuation zone during the Santiam fires. This poor guy had fur filled with ash and smoke, and while he must have wanted to flee from danger, burns on all four of his feet kept him from escaping to safety. The team at Oregon Humane Society stepped in to save him, and he was transferred to us for lifesaving care. We clipped and cleaned his wounds, and we gave him medications to ease his pain and prevent infection. Were happy to report that he should make a full recovery. Best of all, weve found his family. You may have seen in our Stories a few weeks ago I had the privilege of visiting our previous charity partner @animalsinneeduk 💗⠀ I’ve been meaning to talk about it ever since! The vast majority of charities we have worked with are animal ones. As a vegan-friendly brand and in line with my own beliefs - it was really key for me to support them. Often I get sucked into day to day business ‘stuff’, it can be so easy to lose sight of why I’m doing all this! ⠀ ⠀ Taking time out with my husband to visit them, meeting the animals and the awesome people that volunteer there was a truly humbling experience. It showed me how hard they are working to use the donations they receive to maximum effect, but also just how many animals are in need of their help. Swipe for just a few! 🥰⠀ ⠀ Votch donating part of our profits to help them is just one thing, raising awareness is fundamental. I would say to anyone thinking of bringing an animal into their home to really think if they can look after all its needs. It’s not a decision to be taken lightly and research is always a good idea!
