After an x-ray found a shadow on my bone I entered into a long diagnostic process culminating in referral to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. // Yesterday I had surgery to remove an Aneurysmal Bone Cyst (TBC) from my Proximal Fibula. As a runner & a coach it’s hard to reconcile things that are out of your control - this isn’t an injury, it’s a pathology, I can’t blame this on a training error or accident, just luck. Luck that has kept me from accepting my hard earned qualifying place at both the Boston & London Marathon 2019. // This is where running / training as a metaphor for life comes in. Injuries suck but I guess it’s apart of riding a bike. Unfortunately I have done a high grade sprain to my right ankle and it appears that a fracture from 8 years ago never healed properly. I have been advised that I will not be able to walk for the next 2-3 weeks which sucks but all the physio work I’ll be doing is gonna help. I fuckin love drumming 🤘😝🤘 ahaha . . . I hadn’t played on my kit much over the past couple weeks, life just got to be hectic enough that I mostly just stuck to my practice pad stuff. Finally got back on for a good session yesterday, and boy did I ever need it. I kind of forgot how tuned up my body is to play, and without playing much, my body started tensing up and causing more pain than usual. I kind of forgot that my physiotherapist proscribed it as treatment ahaha. Getting on the kit makes me so happy, and so much better off with my pain, wether it’s the distraction of doing what I love, or whatever therapeutic benefits it holds, it’s nice to be refocused. Life is pretty crazy, and it’s okay to get overwhelmed! Just gotta work on what you can, focus on things you can change 🤘 . . . I’m still here guys! Sorry that I haven’t been on and posting nothing. I’ve been trying my best to keep it all together during this quarantine. I’m at day 27 of being quarantined and it has already not been an easy road. I don’t talk a lot about it but I suffer from depression and I have been since I was a teenager.
