À notre plainte pour Aïcko, le dauphin mort en se jetant contre le mur d’un de leursbassins, Planète Sauvage répond en nous accusant : 1️⃣ de devoir soutenir psychologiquement ses salariés face à nos critiques, 2️⃣ davoir fait chuter les entrées 3️⃣ et nous réclame 100000€. À la suite du passage de nos enquêteurs fin mai lors du déconfinement, quand la limite des cent kilomètres autour du domicile étaient encore en application, le parc nous avait menacés de porter plainte si l’on publiait des images. On l’a fait, car c’est précisément notre rôle de défendre les dauphins captifs des bassins. C’est à leurs yeux la goutte qui a fait déborder le vase, et le delphinarium nantais, qui dit perdre de l’argent par notre faute, a déposé une main courante qui a enrichi leur réplique dans le cadre de notre plainte sur la mort d’Aïcko. Ils veulent nous réduire au silence en exigeant dorénavant de la justice que nous leur versions 100 000 euros ! Au lieu de répondre à notre plainte pour Aïcko en présentant des documents exhaustifs et en faisant profil bas — après tout, un delphineau est décédé en se jetant contre le mur d’un de leurs bassins —, ils préfèrent nous attaquer et réclamer une somme astronomique dans le but de nous faire taire. Ils espèrent qu’en nous privant de ces ressources, nous n’aurons plus les moyens de mener nos combats. Ils ont tenté de nous bâillonner avec des menaces. Et comme nous ne nous taisons pas, à présent, ils mettent leurs menaces à exécution devant les tribunaux. En demandant une telle somme, le groupe puissant qui possède de nombreux parcs dont Planète Sauvage sait ce qu’il fait. Mais il n’a pas l’air de nous connaître. Look at this little guy. Isnt he the cutest? Doesnt he just lift your spirits and make you feel relaxed? Me too 💦 He is the visual incarnation of Float, a new collaboration out today with talented friend @dugongjr · · · · · · · Float was first born in the wake of a co-writing session with @cambluff, and was originally a dark, moody slice of RnB. It is one of the many unreleased tracks Ive written over the last 2 years, all which Ive been hoarding like a possessive squirrel while figuring out the sonic vision for a Rromarin solo project. Fast forward to 2020 and the lovely Dylan touches base, seeing if Im any closer to emerging from my cocoon of creative isolation and asking if Im free to do a feature vocal. I wasnt, but I was a bona fide fan of his ability to transform & rework existing vocals into something new (cc. his remix of Fading Out). I gave Dylan the Float a capella, and he totally flipped it on its head, turning it into the dreamy, cruisy chill-fest that it is now. The original is night, and his version is day. Once I heard it, and saw the accompanying art, I knew that Float had to exist in the world - particularly in these sad & troubling times. As the practice of keeping cetaceans in captivity continues to be put under fire in the West (and rightly so), it’s becoming ever more popular and prominent in the East, with wild killer whales at the forefront of a long line of victims. While a range of oceanic dolphins are targeted by the captivity trade, orcas are among the most prized, with a single untrained orca fetching between one and five million dollars. Unfortunately, captive breeding programmes (although unethical themselves) are unable to keep up with the demand for captive orcas, so up-and-coming marine parks turn to wild-capture operations instead. Between 2012 and 2018 more than 30 orca calves were taken from the wild for the captivity trade. While 10 lucky individuals were released, the majority ended up in concrete tanks to be exploited for the rest of their lives. In the case of Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park’s four orcas, they’ve already been trained and put on display, and are already suffering the consequences of confinement. This vicious cycle of brutality and exploitation can be broken. By reducing profits or even causing losses, the demand is cut, aquariums are shut down and wild-captures are prevented. Here’s a dolphin, jumping out of the swell. Is it a robot? It’s quite hard to tell. __ This week we learned that a New Zealand-based company called Edge Innovations has created awesomely cool robotic dolphins so realistic that you apparently can’t tell them from the real thing. But they cost an eye-watering $26m each according to the @guardian. Well - we’ve created our own version that - as with all our creations - also looks exactly like the real thing.
