While I was browsing through Google Play Store, one thing I immediately noticed was the clutter. So many unnecessary categories and tabs making the whole experience run into chaos. So I decided to make a hypothetical minimalistic design. One thing right of the bat - I opted out of flat and gradient based language this time and went for a 3D-kinda design. Here are the design choices - • 3D design for buttons • Removal of unnecessary tabs such as - Movies and Books No. of people who shop for movies and books on Play Store is close to none. Their store is already incorporated into the respective apps. • Removal of tabs on the top of main screen. Instead, a big featured apps slideshow, categories panel and editors choice panel can be accessed on the home screen • Removal of all unnecessary categories (horizontal scroll list) when a single category section can do the job. • Addition of rating, downloads and install button right below the app. Note - Some people might not like the design and I completely understand that. We are so used to flat design scheme in all our apps and this one can certainly feel a bit different. I completely respect their opinion. I personally wanted to go for a change this time around. The main aim behind this was to make as minimal as possible.
