A #throwbackthursday from 2005: my first endurance road bike race, the “Furnace Creek 508.” This is a 508 miles (820 kms) race in Southern Paiute and Western Shoshone lands going through Death Valley, northern Mojave Desert and surrounding areas in California-Nevada. 🚴🏾♀️ I rode in a 2-person team (#TeamCoonhound) with Bruce Gungle plus support crew members Sean and Cory. Building greenhouses to grow crops in the harsh Himalayan climate.⠀ Images showing ‘real people’ doing ‘real work’ help to generate a sense of climate solutions being integrated into daily life.⠀ ⠀ The high altitude and low rainfall in the Ladakh region of India mean that crops can be grown outside for only about 90 days in the year. Fresh vegetables have to be imported by truck in summer or by air in winter. GERES is a development NGO working in Europe, Africa and Asia to improve living conditions and fighting against climate change and its impacts. But still this name is unfamiliar to many But the thrilling facts and legends about this place uncanningly unmatched to that of its populairty. Gata Loop - is band of 21 Hairpin Bend Turns over a strech of 10 km in the Manali Leh Highway. This patch is also one of the most difficult, dangerous and yet thrilling part of the Jouney. If you are riding yourself just imagine al those 21 turns and at the same time the ascend , yet if you do any mistake there is sheer drop of few hundred meters.
