Octobowl II.⠀ A wooden octopus bowl carved with @saburtooth burrs and textured with @liquidtex modeling paste. The outside is painted white, the inside is left clear light maple with a shellac finish. I like to keep the inside unpainted so that you can see that it came from wood.⠀ ⠀ This bowl has taken ages: first, I kept dropping it and ruining the texture medium I covered the whole thing in when it was still wet. Next I should have gone straight to spray paint instead of brushing or sponging paint. Waiting for the paint to dry, sanding back the brushstrokes, and painting again was so unnecessary. David Aronson Virtuoso Bronze Expressionist Sculpture An outstanding David Aronson bronze sculpture, titled Virtuoso. David Aronson (1923-2015) was a painter and Professor of Art at Boston University, who was also associated with the school of Boston Expressionism. Aronson was born in Šiluva, Lithuania in 1923. He taught at Boston University from 1955 to his death in 2015, where he formed the Fine Art Department. As an artist, he created bronze sculptures, paintings, and charcoal drawings. Aronson exhibited his works in Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris, Rome, Berlin and Copenhagen, among others. His work is represented in over forty museums. The New York Times published a wonderful article on Aronson in July 14, 2015, written by Sam Roberts. This exquisite sculpture is titled Virtuoso and dates from 1996. It is signed on the back at the base of the sculpture, and numbered 28/250. The sculpture depicts a musical virtuoso in a pensive yet delighted state of mind practicing with an imaginary instrument. The thought-provoking composition is highly Expressionist in style and is pulsating with life and emotion. Want to show you guys a really cool project that Ive been working on with my team some time ago. This is the new experience for me of the creating a vinyl toy character based on a real person. Im really happy with the result that has turned out. The basis for creating a designer toy has always been the simplicity of form, it is like a three-dimensional vector based on the artists illustrations. You need to cut off everything superfluous and show the essence of the character.
