⚠️🤔Self-efficacy is, according to psychologist Albert Bandura who originally proposed the concept, a personal judgment of how well one can execute courses of action required to deal with prospective situations 🤔👀Rather than identifying fear of movement and severity of pain perhaps we need to be taking a closer look at self-efficacy levels!👍 ‼️📗📘📙Costa et al. (2011) Pain self‐efficacy and fear of movement have been proposed to explain how pain can lead to disability for patients with chronic low back pain. However the extent to which pain self‐efficacy and fear of movement mediate the relationship between pain and disability over time has not been investigated. This study aimed to investigate whether pain self‐efficacy and/or fear of movement mediate the relationship between pain intensity and disability in patients with recent onset chronic low back pain. In a two‐wave longitudinal design, 1️⃣8️⃣4️⃣ chronic low back pain patients completed measures for pain intensity, disability, pain self‐efficacy and fear of movement at baseline and 1️⃣2️⃣ months after the onset of chronic low back pain. Regression analyses were used to test the mediation hypothesis. We found that, when measured at the same time, both pain self‐efficacy and fear of movement beliefs partially mediated the effects of pain intensity on disability at the onset of chronic low back pain. However, in the longitudinal analyses, only improvements in self‐efficacy beliefs partially mediated the relationship between changes in pain and changes in disability over a 1️⃣2️⃣months period. We found no support for the theory that fear of movement beliefs mediate this relationship. In the afternoon. Tomorrow it will be exactly three months since I posted the first chapter of this comics. Its almost over. Im drawing an epilogue which Ill post next week. This was based on a real story as all of these things have happened to me, metaphorically (or not). Im NOT gonna print a volume out of this as this doesnt even have a title, some characters dont even have names and I feel like it would be too self-referential to give my own name to the main character - also this is not about me, its about romanticizing the past and having nostalgia for days that were quite shitty but that now feel like that was as good as life gets. If you want a physical volume get @teahacic LIFE OF THE PARTY - its so good! I laughed and cried and thought about it for a long time and read it like 9 times so far. Speak to yourself like, you ❤ yourself & care about yourself🗣weve picked up a thinking pattern thats now a habit, not our fault, but we ARE going to pick up a NEW habit to replace it. We CAN do it. We ARE going to do it. . 6. Ask yourself to practice noticing when you are what ifing a worst case scenario. . When do you notice, take a moment to also notice what the thought causes you to feel like? You may notice a fearful feeling before you notice the thought. . 7. Now we can start to see practically how thoughts effect our feelings, this is brilliant practice well done. 8. Now have ready on paper some questions to provoke interest instead of fear. . ✒Why do I believe a worst case scenario is so possible? . ✒Has something similar happened before? . ✒Does this mean it WILL happen again, or am I just assuming? . ✒Am I only looking for evidence that supports the worst case scenario? . ✒Have we considered the best case scenario? . ✒What would that look & feel like? . ✒Whats the most likely scenario? . ✒What if the worst case scenario really is looking to be true. How can i prepare for this, to help myself through? . Working practically with your thought patterns to relearn wiser ones can change how you feel #cbt . WHAT ifs can be good.
